Gran Turismo Sport: General Discussion

I have a question. Has anyone seen evidence that tuning will actually be a part of GTS? I'm asking, because I haven't seen any, and from the point of view of creating a game for equal competition between different cars, it might make sense to keep the cars in the exact same state they were BoP'd by PD.

Thoughts?

There's a 'Car Settings' option into the garage section.

Hi MarchingSaint I have looked at my printed ticket and there are no T & C I can see, I did note have the ring had LOD issues, really bad flashing in places. It even froze on me twice I selected the driver options before the track image popped up and had to press the PS button. Loading times seemed good I wonder if they used SSD in the PS4.

There have been some negative comments on the Videos I wonder if that is why they were taken down.

Some games on PS4 load really fast, driveclub for instance.

Given the quick turnaround I'm not expecting anything particularly different in Ring builds, not in terms of features/gameplay/audio anyway, probably just the full 24hr circuit and a couple of new cars.

I think the reaction is because there really wasn't a positive atmosphere, on most sites the reveal was slated, the trailer was mocked and there was a lot of criticism and calls for change at PD.

This is just bad damage control, but it's what we should expect from a developer that has only shown disinterest at best to its customers and community.

The problem here is, most of those critics had no foundation at all, the reviews made by some sites were clearly exaggerated (graphics wise), and comments from youtube just show the lack of knowledge from people who see those videos.
Overall the negativity was exaggerated and people made up their mind about the game based on a livestream on youtube of that first build shown on Thursday. After that, just foolish comments about of people claiming thay won't buy the game because it doesn't look "good". That just shows how this industry has evolved.

Graphics are clearly much better compared to GT6, and this was proven by side-by-side comparisons (with GT6).
Sounds are also better, not perfect, but better. Just look for that Corvette video, or the Bugatti one, and everyone will see that there is an improvement and no "vacuum cleaner" sounds.
Physics, as far as we know they have been improved (from the feedback we got from GTP members who attended the event). People expecting this to be a true sim, are not realistic with their expectations since this game is for a large audience, from the more hardcore players, who even enter in competitions to the casual players (which represent the largest part of the community) and for all ages. This is supposed to be something like a Battlefield, not a full-on war simulator, but has some components of that, making it something in the middle of an Arcade and a Sim.

Why are we dwelling on this so much? The videos are officially gone, they're still out there unofficially and the reason why doesn't really make a difference. It's happened, move on.

Not all of them. Am I missing something or only two were uploaded before the requests?

Exactly this. I don't want to sink myself into a full blown sim, as I have no wheel, but I also want a somewhat realistic experience, so GT is perfect for me.
In short? What is that, slang for "TL;DR:"? :P

Hopefully Kaz & co don't take the internet vitriol to heart. GT Sport looks great, and it'll only get better before release.
BREAKING NEWS: GTS cancelled, Kaz's heart destroyed by angry youtube commenter's.

Heheh, I'm just old fashioned.
I also hope the same to the developers. Criticism can be hard to accept, but learning from it and correcting those faults into their game will make the response better and a better product too.

So far, the only explanation I can come up with is that Sony doesn't want to advertise an outdated build of the game if a better version will be coming out soon. Still doesn't make much sense though...

Sense isn't in their dictionary i'm afraid :D

But possibly , yeah , it's what i think as well.

I just... I am really exited to drive the 4C race car and the F-Type race car around the nurburgring by myself. I want to play this game so bad, and I have absolutely no substitute games right now, and its frustrating.

I'm only waiting on this game to drop so i can buy me a PS4 (again...) and say goodbye to my social life.:lol:

ONLY complaint I have is yet again a lack of a clutch and transmission noise (engine samples not too bad this time). Other than that it looks great. It won't replace the "motorsport" feel PCARS has (GTS having no engineer and other details), but its a GT and should be fun. Offline seems to have a few more things to do at least.

I've driven the 4C in another game and it's absolutely wonderful. One of my favourite cars. A brilliant combination of the right amount of power and grip in a short wheelbase MR layout.

Maybe the members from GTP that are going to take a look can make new "personal" recordings

At least with Microsoft you can go to their media website and anyone can download extremely high quality B-Roll footage from events, Sony really needs the equivalent to this.

Sony has a PlayStation press center, but it's one of those companies where it's only open to members of the press who got an account, which is stupid.

Because it's an interesting question, are we so used to PD's absurd PR work that we just accept it now?

Seen a "Decal Deform" function in a Livery Editor before?

No, I haven't. Want to tell me what it does, then?

Two, and 2.5, this is the time to ask for things, because it's entirely possible that we'll be getting a Spec II update as every online-capable GT game has offered so far.

There is absolutely nothing to support that.

And I expect one, as with all you guys throwing epical tantrums to remove every pixel of Standard content - this is tracks too - that's going to mean a skimpy GT7. Unless PD has their modeling staff working eight days a week on upgrading as much as they can to at least Premium "standards." ;)

If PD didn't think their "future-proof" PS3 models were enough for this game, why do you think they'd go and include 15-year old PS2 assets?

Had they decided to include all PS3 Premiums in GTS (or GT7), they'd be sitting at roughly 450 cars, a total higher than all but a single game this generation. If you find that skimpy, that's on you.

This makes a two year-plus wait for GT7 a distinct possibility, and a Spec II update for Sport entirely possible as well. So I suggest you follow my lead and ask for stuff.

Yeah, no thanks. I'd rather they work on the stuff that's currently in the game, bringing it up to the best level of quality possible, before shoving more half-baked features in. The kitchen-sink approach is what gave us the peaks-and-valleys release-day GT5.

It's just part and parcel of the internet these days, unfortunately. Not that it wouldn't be nicer without it, but there's always going to be retards with more anger than sense.

It's why I think big developers try to use community managers. A community manager doesn't have a stake in the actual game, so they're not as offended by all the bile. And they can make sure that useful information still makes it's way to devs without the people who are actually making the game having to subject themselves to demoralising criticism of their baby.

But at a certain point they just need to man up as well. The game isn't the best looking thing around, but neither is it a bad looking game. There's going to be criticism for the lack of perceived progress in some areas, but progress has been made. If Polyphony is really confident in their work, then they should leave it out there and give people time to get over their outrage and get used to it.

I think if they feel the need to pull it because of criticism then they're probably not that confident. Not that criticism is necessarily the reason it was pulled, but if it was then that doesn't say great things.

i think forza 3 (or was it 2?) had livery editing basedon on decal shapes. You choose shape, bring along the car and choose color, and so on. Worked well i made lots of liveries back then.

I should expand: I'm very familiar with Forza's livery editor. "Decal deform" in GTS hasn't been explained, and it could be a fairly simple feature, or it could be a very handy one, allowing us to curve logos around wheel arches or windshields. The thing is, we don't know.

Now that Forza is coming to PC they should release a livery program on Windows 10 but with some Photoshop like features.

Oh... and Gran Turismo should do that too :P
