Oh hey, look at that, a bunch of new yellow badges... :D

Last I checked, the size of a game had no basis on it's A-rating, since that has to do with developer and budget.

Are you really suggesting GT Sport will sell under 2 million copies? I mean, that's fine — we're all guessing at this point — but I consider myself cautiously optimistic and even my estimate doesn't go that low. The last game in the series sold less than half its predecessor, but even if GT Sport did a similar decrease it'd be sitting at 2.5 million units. Which, it should be noted, is more than any other racing game title sold in the last year, including the multi-platform PCARS (though we haven't heard sales figures on FH3 yet).
So many new articles and nothing about GT... I can't blame GTplanet given the dead silence of Poly. Pitstop blog, FB, Snapchat, Twitter : all dead. Where is their community manager?

I'm basing that on what I consider best case scenario. 10 million GT5 buyers all still being in the market for GT now. 20% of which, at best, are online players equals 2 million sales.

I really shouldn't have to point out the faulty logic there...

Y'know, there've been a lot of similar comments on the Facebook page lately (though you've worded it far nicer :P ). I'll say what I would say to them: I'd love for our (recently-expanded) staff to write more GT articles, but we can't draw blood from a stone. As soon as news hits (or leaks), we'll cover it. But this is why the expansion of the front page's scope has been so good for us. 👍

UNCHARTED 4: A Thief's End reached a cumulative sell through of more than 8.7 million copies globally*4 as of December 21, 2016.

I don't think GTS is getting anywhere close in lifetime sales tbh. That's a full GT game and the genre in it's prime figures right there.

Of course GTSport will sell millions, it's a new main line Granturismo entry, also GT5P sold more than 5 million copies.

Yes. The size of the game is irrelevant to its AAA status because you must take a look at who is backing it. For this case, it is one of the largest contenders in the industry: Sony. Couple that with one of the oldest and highly experienced development studios along with marketing provided by the publisher and you should have GT Sport selling in the millions.
Contributing writers eh? Congratulations to both of you:cheers:.

It was given the GT3 A Spec bundle treatment (edit - actually, this isn't definite). With that said, I don't believe it's crazy to think GTS can get up to 7 million. Was GT6 bundled? Either way, it's gotten up to or over 5 million, impressively. Releasing after the PS4, that's something else.

UC4 is far and away the best selling of the series and yet I'm surprised at the numbers. It still won't be slowing down much anytime soon.

After looking at the car list for a while, I began to wonder. Since there are a few Vision Gran Turismo vehicles in the game, do you think they would include the entire roster of Vision vehicles, or only include fan favorites like the LM55 and the Tomahawk? Also, if the racing varieties are implemented, will the other versions arrive as well? Such as the Tomahawk S/X. Personally, I believe the Tomahawk X is too extreme to be considered "legit" in a racing simulator.

All of the VGT cars are confirmed for GTS - http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/vgt/

We just don't know in what guise. Once would assume they'll all be tweaked into a Group and as for the Tomahawk, one would guess only one version will be included, but we'll have to wait and see.

evil smile/ really impressive numbers there, life time sales of 10 million+ are almost a given now. Bodes well for GTS doing well though.

Is it GTS ?
New screen tech, better than Oled that Sony will reveal at CES press conf

It doesn't quite look like PDs lighting engine to me. Look at the door reflection, and the area around the wing mirror. The same can be said for the shots in the video.

Not PD IMO. Their lighting has been better than that for years.

Your saying an esport orientated, online focused, no GT mode title is going to appeal to anyone else?
That's not what he said. Apart from GT5 having sold around 10 million copies, those numbers are just being pulled out from no where. Even if the online player numbers are anywhere near accurate, it's almost guaranteed that it won't only appeal to online players, but fans who are loyal to the franchise and other people outside of the GT franchise who participate in online racing and gaming. Plus, not all of the online players are going to return to play this game, so how the game will sell is nearly unpredictable at this point.

It could appeal to a lot of different folks.

People who will buy a game simply because of the logo on the cover, for one.
People who may not know that it's a massively different game, but know what the Gran Turismo experience tends to be.
People who do know it's a massively different game, and want to try that.
People who enjoy online competitive gaming in general, but are looking for a new genre.
People who want some PS4 Pro-powered eye candy for their new 4K, HDR TV.
People who want a realistic racing game on PS4 that isn't a third-party, buggy mess.
People who were conquest sales from Microsoft last generation.

I could go on.

You're basing your estimate on a guess at a fraction of GT5's player base, and literally nobody else.

Y'know, from that angle, it could be Driveclub.

But the second, yep it s from a random work designer

That's because you can't estimate any of those. There is no data available. I suppose it comes down to the drop in sales for GT6. How much is down it the proximity of PS4 and how much is down to GT6 being what it was.

I would suggest the first two possibilities would have been well and truly cured of that tendency by GT6. I'd agree with the rest, but putting numbers to them?

Even in slow-mo you'll get this done under a minute. I doubt this was ever the cause of a delay.

Yep. It's really easy and the machinery is not that expensive. But if they want that data then the manufacturers will be able to just give it to them. As will probably any decent paint shop.

The perfect Ferrari red thing is just more marketing bollocks. They've been able to do pearlescent paint for some time, therefore the tech for angle-dependent colour has been there also.

I imagine that specific bullet-point was triple underlined in the press kit, as it spreads over in multiple articles. Maybe they get a special licensing discount every time it is mentioned…

Sadly, no particular (r)evolution in terms of HDR capabilities for 2017 so far; adding Oled to their range makes GTS HDR figures even more questionable.

@05XR8 Thin is seemingly what the market wants; at least you will not have to complain you get a bended display once they get packaged in rolls.

Forza Horizon 3 lists 2.6 million players from both platforms on the global stunt points leaderboard now.

That only gives us a rough idea though — people could be using multiple usernames, or playing offline entirely.

Regarding the, let's call them, "Promotional Shots" for Sony's new display technology. The first question that comes up in my head, is: If they use cars to promote their new stuff, why are they doing it with real cars (you know, 3D models of real cars) and not with fictional cars, or even lookalike 3D models of real cars that have been cleaned (removed badges and all that stuff)? For me, there must be a reason why they are using real cars for promotion, because we're talking about Sony here, and that brings us to SCE, Polyphony Digital, and so on. In my eyes, everthing comes together. I don't really think a random company (LG for example) would just go and say: "Oh, let's take a brand new Corvette Z06 C7, do a precise 3D model of it so we can promote our new technology with it." On my old LG TV cardboard box, they also used a car in the promo shot / product shot. It wasn't a real car though, it was a generic F1 car.

Yep, I'm pretty much screwed. Realised soon after seeing that US cheapest way to get a PS4 is with Uncharted 4 and that's still the case now, also good timing for console sales with the new Slim and Pro models released and good game to show off graphical capabilities of the console and also at discounted price.

Only hope really is they stop doing that bundle and also do a GT SPORT one to similar extent. There will probably be a PS4 Pro Slim with maybe UHD drive later on in the year or it might slip into 2018 or even 2019 (Depending on 10nm / 7nm situation and if they switch to more efficient architecture again), it will be good if GT SPORT is bundled with that and also the standard model. However I think there is a good chance Uncharted 4 will still be bundled which will compound situation. Out of interest @sems4arsenal , can I serve any potential avatar sentence early with current avatar change or not? Probably be a few years before we get to know which way it goes.

I'll allow your Avatar for a month :P

an interesting take on Uncharted 4's numbers, can TLOU part 2 overtake GT3 as the best selling PS4 exclusive of all time?

It's not the capturing or creating of the color that was the problem but displaying it on the TV to reflect the real thing.

Which is what they said - that even if it was there you couldn't see it and now with HDR you can.
