Color pallet is a personal thing but AC totally has "last gen" roots. (well "budget PC sim" roots)

Yeah, I really do like Assetto Corsa for its great physics and its real simulation 'feel,' but its graphics aren't really cutting it for me. I may be being brutal, but it looks like a 720p image on a small TV with the TVs 'Sharpen' effect turned sky high. Again, they're not bad but I prefer GT Sports lighting engine and overall 'super premium' quality textures. But I'm not biased as I think GTs physics as a whole need to be improved... unless they're targeting young novice souls who just want to drive a car for fun and it not be difficult at all.

or LFS :P which with some changes ( improvement in crash physics, tire model, weight transfer, inertia, higher physics tick rate etc ), LFS physics and FFB would be great to be incorporated in GTS.

Used the cockpit view for the first time tonight after the improvements to the cockpit lighting. How horrible is the cockpit movement. I look past my steering wheel and see the dashboard moving as I turn. And once I saw it I couldn't unsee it. Just couldn't drive well after that. They need to give us options to change all of these things, fov, seat position, world movement, head movement etc. It's bloody 2017 for gawd's sake!
The movement you see is the driver's head moving. I agree the option should be there to turn it off but personally it adds greatly to the driving experience for me in cockpit view. I'm actually really happy it's in the game.

I'm the driver and my head aint moving like that, I can move my own head thanks ;)

I'd tend to agree that AC has a more natural palette to GT Sport's over-contrasted, bloom-everywhere approach. For me, it's what adds to the immersion once you're in the heat of setting a fast lap. That said, the environments are utterly lifeless, to the extent they even make GT's usually clinical atmosphere feel warm and inviting. That unfortunately has the opposite effect on immersion levels, for me anyway.

Have to disagree with AC's palette being more natural as real-life looks bright and colorful during a sunny midday. AC actually looks a bit too desaturated imo. A sunny day in AC ends up looking sort of like an overcast with shadows.

Honestly, you rarely see Gran Turismo fans running around on other racing game's threads parading their game about like its better than everything else, but in the Gran Turismo threads, you have many fanboys rushing in trying to assert their dominance as the master race and "shame on you enjoying a game despite its flaws." It's iritating to be frank.

Now aside from the fact this is unnecessary flame bait, it's also not true.

I, and just about every member of staff find the reality of this to be the almost exact opposite.

You must not get around much.

It seems that way because GT is as popular as NFS. There's more places to find hate than in the forum of a PC sim racing forum.

There's your mistake right there. You think the people pointing out the flaws in the game aren't also fans of Gran Turismo.

Meh, I'm having an off day, so the thing I decided to do was go to the closest place I could find negativity, which was this forum, and just vent. I'm sorry.

Also, Project CARS' controller handling isn't trash @Johnnypenso, I enjoy that game and I was just lookin for an argument. Sorry man.

I apologize if my posts have come across that way. Since it is impossible for me to play GTSport (no PS4), the only way that I can gauge how the game must be is to ask people who's opinions I respect and throw in some references to the game that I play (AC at this point in time). I'm not here to insinuate one is better than the other...I wouldn't waste my time or your time with that childish nonsense. Frankly, I hope GTSport sells 5 million copies. Competition is good for the genre! 👍

Does anyone have a firm grasp on HOW the Safety Rating works in GTSport? Do you collect points for each lap you complete without playing bumper cars? Is the system fair? If someone T-Bones* you, are you on the hook for the collision too? :boggled:

I see that you tried to force a three wide... there's a radar function, it helps a lot.
I'm not sure what point you're referring to in the vid, but the only time that could have been construed as me forcing anything like a three wide would be while I was the furthest car ahead. I'm also aware of the radar function, it's uses and its shortcomings.

Watching the video again, who probably caused the crash was one of the Brazilian guys coming behind...

Looks like the last update included some changes to how the SR system works. Stay tuned for updates:sly:

Everybody is aggressive because let's be frank, when you're close to the top of the pile in a race you want to pull out the win. But a system where I go down in SR from getting hit in the side and from behind, doesn't reflect My Sportmanship at all. It really needs work.

Anyone here use DS4 motion steer besides me?
I tried it, and it seems very responsive, but I'm very awkward when I race in video games and trying to learn a new way to play right now just felt like too much. Especially since I just started manual shifting on the DS4 recently.

I knew how it was going to be but I finally dipped my toe in the water and tried my first online races today.. first race was at the Nurb in the N300 Evo and it was crazy with drivers deliberately driving into me on the early corners.. I left before T2 and got penalized for it... Then I tried 3 races in the GT-R at Brands Hatch and the first 2 races pretty much the same with carnage everywhere :P

The last race was a bit better but still no avoiding opposition other than myself it seems, Anyway what I'm getting at is I reckon even the cleanest most considerate drivers online wouldn't be able to keep a perfect ranking due to some of the random kamikaze opposition who like to ditch everyone in their path :D

Thankfully it's just a BETA we are testing and the full game should have private rooms with invite only 👍 when you can separate the wheat from the chaff it should and will be a better experience for all
Stuff the silly ranking that others can ruin for you on a whim and wait for the full game before we all start getting serious with hand picked opposition looking for the perfect license ;)👍

I'm not sure what point you're referring to in the vid,
right here, you're 3 wide.
Possibly not quite level with the A pillar of the BMW outside you, but the EVO is right alongside on your inside.
you proceed to turn across the front of the EVO and squeeze him on entry
And on the exit you run wide across the front of the BMW, push him off the road, so he gives you as love-tap to push you back on the road.

As for the flying, dive-bombing Corvette's using you as a pinata..
You were pointing the wrong direction anyway from the incident at the corner before, so that's kind of a moot point

It seems a bit like this: each sector is rated. clean sector is blue is good, bad sector (sometimes/often ;) also because of the other driver) is red is bad. So lets say after 10 sector you have ideally 10 blue and thats a clear level up. What I didn;t found out yet what the weight factor is of one red sector. One red has more (negative) impact then e.g. five blue??

Before the update you got +/+ or -/- in numbers on a scale of 1-99. Now it's done in rating letters. Less variation but there must be a clear explanation behind it. Will dive into this later today. Or easier if anyone else has the real story feel free to add or edit my thoughts. (a real GT Sport SR/DR expert or PD dev)

You have to manage to start 1-2 @Nords. In the first turn after the start take care of the bumper kickers and then full throttle. So survive the first 300 meters and then it's drving your own relaxing race ;).
Clean overtaking is not always appreciated

With your excellent quali time you start in the middle of the grid??
