I guess it doesn't take any skill to be fast on a ds4 then?

I assume the problem is the difference in drivind style/line most of the time. Average driver with ds4 isnt as smooth and predictable as with a wheel. Thats also why (undestandably) there is more aid required for the average ds4 driver, which shouldnt give too much competitive edge over wheel drivers with no aid.

And you sir dont count as an average ds4 driver.. ;)👍

I've experienced rammers online already. I get ahead and someone rams me when I'm braking for a turn, and it sucks cuz it puts me all the way behind. I do for the most part find myb way back to the middle, but I have to get better. In the 'ring, I'm about 45 seconds behind the leader.

Rammers will always be there. Either due to frustration or pure fun (evil). Its human nature and no matching system can take that away. Usual online lobbies with kick/ban are the most effective way if one doesnt have regular closed lobbies.

In a mellow state of mind I even find it entertaining to fight agains the rammers. By choosing line and taking evasive maneuvers one can quite often out play the rammer. :mischievous:

Otherwise the key is to survive the first corners in the front. Take inside and brake early instead of usual line and rammers either hit you to the rear before the corner or fly past you (and the turn:mischievous:) from outside. 👍

You're correct. 99% of DS4 drivers are casuals and will require a lot of aids, but I'm curious how much of that aid really helps. A fast driver will be fast regardless the method of input. It all boils down to knowledge of the track and racing lines.

I just got a G29 earlier this week and I got to put in my first real good session with it last night. The one thing I noticed is the amount of control I have over the car with it. If I accidentally turn in to early, it's easily remedied. As for the ds4, it's quite a bit more difficult. I'm already far more consistent with my laps with the g29. If I was guessing, I would say that I would complete a ds4 lap once out of every 10-15 times due to offs or barrier colllisions, I can easily double that with the wheel. I am talking about on the limit, hot laps. Race pace is normally a little slower due to traffic or risk/reward corners that you don't take so carelessly in time trials.

With that said and my extremely limited experience with the wheel, I'd definitely say the wheel gives a greater advantage on where it excels vs what the ds4 excels at. The DS4 seems like an all or nothing while the wheel is a precision machine. Maybe I'll do some testing and run 1 hour with the DS4 and 1 hour with the wheel, note the percentage of completed laps, average corner speeds and anything else that may be of value. Ya know. For sciences!!

Wheel is also a lot more forgiving what comes to catching a slide at the moment compared to usual. Lets hope they remove the "forced srf", so you dont get used to it. ;)

I don't think that is the point that is being made. It would appear that the game currently allows players without the necessary skills to be fast as well. How many times have you been in an online race and seen people make ridiculous mistakes, end up on the grass, not appear to have any control yet they somehow manage to keep up with you?

I think the point is that less skilled drivers with a DS4 seem to be able to drive really fast which is slightly unfair on skilled drivers using both a wheel AND a DS4. Take away the hand holding and the skillful DS4 drivers would be just as quick but it would level the playing field.

I'm actually surprised on how the closed beta lasted 2 months and kept going. I thought a beta usually last 1-2 weeks at most?

Now thinking about it, that and plus several updates we got, that it might take a while before we get the final product.

Considering N300 and Gr.4 classes are a bit unbalanced, i'm worried about the other classes which isn't in the beta at the moment. Maybe it will have the same fate. I think PD needs far more testing in other classes as well.

I wonder if we ever going to race at willows springs other layouts like Horse Theif Mile?

I think there is a chance we could still get an open beta so that they can fully stress their servers. Also this media cup could be a first toe in the water for testing running championships. That could be opened up to more people as time goes on. This beta could run a little while longer yet.

Any idea how many slots they've given out as "beta testers"?

Given its heavily online oriented game, i wouldnt be surprised if the transition from beta to final is continuous. If they anyways plan on updating the game, they might as well let the beta run all the way to release. Soft launch in a way.

Closed beta to open beta to offline demo..

No idea unfortunately.

I hope not. I would find it pretty disappointing to not have a gap then the launch of a feature filled game. I wouldn't want to see features added in stages up to a release.

Oh no no no.. Features as they are now until release. Just updating the engine, online - physics etc. Then one big bang to full version.

Just had 3 good, fast, clean races at the Nordschleife in the N300s. Every single one of us gained SR.

Is that you @Amaru? Good racing with you.

That screenshot confirms something I noticed myself yesterday. They appear to have changed matchmaking again, so now you get a whole field with the same SR as yours.

I'm an S now and I had the same clean race experience yesterday in a field full of S's of various DR's.

Anyone notice they added the pitlane to the course map on the qualifying screen for Northern Isle Speedway?
I can confirm this, looked at my older video recordings and now looked at my sport mode screen.

It bothers me why the pitlane isn't connected in the minimap.

To me, they are all excellent, which is the case for most GT games. That's why their car sounds are never quality, and just starting to improve after 15+ years.

Oh look a PD apologist. You can't possibly believe that the engine sounds have been bad because they've been too busy with the soundtracks. Yeah, nah, all they had to do was choose some songs and put them in a list, probably took 1 or 2 guys no more than a week for each game.

Of course not... Everyone has their own department... And that car audio department was not the best/strongest one...

Not quite like you said its more like they recorded each song in a whole studio
https://www.gtplanet.net/gt-sports-...impse-into-a-staple-of-entertainment-history/ so yeah they take this too seriously (leaving car audio quality a bit behind with only minor/decent improvement).

That SR at Blue Moon Bay is 🤬. Started B/B today. 3 great races at Gr. 4:cheers: got blue sr in all of them. Then went to Blue Moon / gr3, got dive bombed few times and a big one at the last corner resulting a spin. DROPPED SR FROM B TO C?!🤬

Noice. 👍

People just love to ruin good things. How do you feel about the track? Aesthetically (or visually) and the layout when your competition isn't full of a bunch animals.

Was in that last race with you. Avoided you the best I could but the ramming was out of this world. Won the next one last lap in a great clean 3 way battle but sr still went down from b to c..

Its a chain effect when one starts the ramming. And the ghosting.. Man.. Talk about inconsistent..

Best part was me driving next to the wall on a straight side by side. Got sandwitched and i got the sr punishment.:crazy:

Then something 🤬ing hilarious happened - last straight of the last race i got a good exit and swayed all the way to the left to pass this red/yellow danger before finish line. The guy decided to ram me to the side but did too quick of a change of lane, ghosted and flew right through me..:lol::lol:

Just stumbled on this video on YT... wtf is this guy talking about?:lol: like seriously, does anyone who can actually see thinks GTS Beta looks like a PS3 game? I'm shocked

I would ignore it. People in the comments think that Forza 5 looks better than stuff like Driveclub, which isn't true.

Looking at his channel itself, I think he's just a Microsoft shill.

GTSport have exactly the same art style as Gran turismo games on PS3, but it's far from looking like a last gen game to me.
