Gran Turismo World Tour is happening

Was watching the final four races last night, and man I'm hooked! This is so fun to watch! Yes yes, there were mishaps and some questionable decisions, but overall really great, close racing! I also loved having Jimmy as a commentator, love that guy :D. Hope he stays on for future events.

Subbed the Gran Turismo TV channel and definitely planning to watch the next event live if I have the chance.

I'm very intrigued with this new build. The broadcast was really cool with the new camera angles, the new graphic overlays looked great and I'm really hoping there will be a option to do something similar for lobby races. I'm running a local league here in Iceland and I'd love to be able to stream the races from a broadcast type of camera :). Note sure if that will come to pass, but one can hope ;)

New tire/physics model sounds good. A comparison to Assetto Corsa is a good thing, there is always room for improvements and I'm aching to get my hands on this new build, hoping for an update in the near future.

Also, @mclarenLB .. very excited to see your write up from the event. Really cool that you had the chance to chat with Mr. Kaz himself, and I'm sure that being a part of this event must have been quite a unique experience! :)

Getting first hand insights from you guys that were a part of this is a privilage! Thanks for sharing and congratz all of you on being part of this elite crew!

Those races were very exciting! Especially the last one! But the first race was botched though... The broadcaster first said they had to pit once and then suddenly it was optional. Don't know how this was communicated with the racers... But I can imagine that some thought it was mandatory.

I hear you. You are probably right about that being the best sim!....But I would bet that kind of game would sell far less copies than a typical Gran Turismo game, like Assetto Corsa and Project Cars already do. I hope I am wrong on that, but I wonder based on their sales, at least on console anyway. I love all three of those games. You are missing my point. Unless Sony/PD suddenly decide they don't want to have one of the best selling racing franchises in history.....then Gran Turismo is going to remain a casual/sim oriented game. It is the only way to reach the maximum amount of players. Remember, by FAR most players use a pad. Sony are always going to want PD to cater to that crowd, at least alongside offering excellent wheel support. Frankly, I think PD do a good job of catering to both crowds already. I love the game as is except for the lack of content. Like you, I also enjoy the more sim oriented games too. I just don't see the need to change Gran Turismo into that. But I'm also someone that prefers gaming on console....I have a nice PC, but I just like the simplicity of the console experience, but to each their own! Cheers

I think you re not seeing the whole picture... the thing that makes the balance pend to GTS side is above all that in this game its remarkabke easy to embrace online racing with a ranking syatem and all, and regarding PC2 we must add a lot of bugs creeping in on 1st launch and on 1st updates... those are the only true reasobs why players that are looking for a racing simulation.. and not Gta like on line... are still playing GTS... and dailly, that number keeps... decreasing... for those who play the game for more then 2 to 3 months...

More... this summer will be launched AC Competizione... and once that happens... the vast majority of those (wanting a good online racing simulation) will migrate to that new truly racing simulation with probably even better online racing capabilities then actual GTS!

So ... if by that time Gts does not makes any moves to change... it will be used only for kids... mostly...

Rumors of Gt7 are real? Don t know... but... I know that strong changes are needed or then Gts will loose what it was amming for... and a vast number of actual players until the end of this summer...

The thing is ACC wont be released on console and that userbase is much larger. I dont like gaming on PC anymore for the simpel fact you are never done upgrading and for not being plug and play.

I'm convinced there was a technical issue with the game when they restarted race 2 because of 'grid issues.'
I'm guessing 'blue screen.'
If that's the case, then the game is clearly not ready. This issue has been going on pretty much since release.

Were you at the event? Didn't see you racing. I guess it's difficult to keep up with the better drivers.
Just a thought: Perhaps you could've written the 'report' whilst watching both finals?

Dude, what's your problem? :S

Ever since you missed the invitation towards the end of April you have turned into a bitter, angry man who can't accept others are better than you. You get involved in so many incidents because of YOUR mistakes, not others most of the time and have taken to blaming everything for your fall to DR B except yourself. He missed a chance to get into the Nations final because of my mistake in quali, and in Manufacturers Finals he went from 10th to 2nd at Monza in his stint in the Renault and was competitive at N24 against the OP Nissan and BMW. Like to have seen you get through the traffic like he did without crashing...

You keep saying you're never going to play again, yet always come back and complain about the game every single day. Weird for someone who has "no time to play" compared to us who got invited. As long as you never accept fault for anything, you'll never improve and never get invited to such events. Get over yourself and drop the salt.

About to say the same thing... Just didn't want to since my statement might be invalid because my DR's not capped out.

I don't like how he disrespects you guys. Sure it was a shame that he wasn't invited, but I think everything else he said was uncalled for. I'm sure he wouldn't act like that should he have been invited

@Lord Protector Coming from someone who isn't in JIM, from my experience, he's been clean and flippin' quick. Love racing wheel-to-wheel against him (when I try to keep up with him).
Some of the drivers at the Nürburg I've had issues with though.

says the guy who is dirty himself, i know you refering to me.
but honestly every comment you make, it`s for making you look better. you know in that race when i hit you of track, the guys where backing me up, and they where from you`re country as well. you where wrong, but yeah i should not have hit you but after three times of wrong driving from you`re sight in one race, i`m done with it, you will never learn otherwise, and for the nurburgring move, what was i thinking lol, he went wide and i had the pace to go beside him but slightly overshoot it and the fact he also steered in to me. and hit him side to side, but honestly it looked worst then it was, i didn`t even get a penalty we both could just continue, no off track, so agressive driving yes, maybe to agressive. but if i see a gap i go for it. and whatch real live nurburgring there where some same moves as well. the commentary was a bit dramatic at that moment in my eyes. but yeah the race itself could have been much better for sure.also on my sight.

I’ve raced ads once before and easily kept up with broken pedals. And he also did a questionable pass on me by just sticking his nose in and causing contact.

And I’ve raced mthomas many times and not sure if I’ve ever managed to keep up! Definitely deserves to be there !!

Damn...

Lucky you! Would've loved to donate some of my DR race with mthomas some day :)

Anyway, I'm backing out of this argument now before anyone starts asking for my DR of which I have nothing to present

Looked like an amazing event with some great commentary. Can't wait for it to come to Asia/Oceania region. Was so surprised to see that Giorgio got a TAG Heuer watch for 1st place! That thing must be worth around a thousand dollars here in Aus. A great incentive for drivers to push for the win. :)

I wonder how the Gr.4 BoP works now. Did anyone notice how the SLS was all of sudden much more competitive?

So what did I exactly do in your opinion so that you could push me off circuit? Weave slightly once defending on a straight? And that gives you the opportunity to push me off circuit and ruin my race? Seems justified...
But I'm the dirty driver, right? Haha

So why was I still selected to race in the British Championship and you weren't?
Because the move was completely fine according to the steward and you also ruined @Revver00 's race, for not giving me and him enough room on the exit.
Well done for keeping up with me once too. That was the race I was adjusting to my new pedals

Viewers, grab the popcorn...

Because you finished ahead of me? I was only a second behind you all race but I couldn’t overtake you because my throttle was spiking.

You've completely misunderstood me, mthomas. Of course there are drivers better than me. I occasionally play just for fun as I have other commitments now. I'll try to raise my DR again soon.
Yes I'm not happy with some of the game's features and where I stand, but this has nothing to do with being a 'bitter and angry man'
And I'm not sure how you know if they are 'MY' mistakes, because you haven't witnessed absolutely everything on what has been going on.

It's a tough level to race at. The 3 drivers on the podium are arguably better than us lot. They're the aliens in terms of pace.

So bringing up other situations completely irrelevant to what is being said in this chat is unacceptable.

This post reads well but you previous posts in this topic come across as really bitter but, by the sound of this post, you didn't mean them to be.

A common problem with relatively short posts on a forum.
