"Right then, let's get the old Clio fired up then."

"We're gonna have a bit of fun, boy..."

Later on...

"Man, I didn't know it was this late. Still, I ain't been to my dealers in a while, so let's see what's new there."

"We're almost there now."

"There it is. Been a while, hasn't it?"

"Hey Chris, what's up?"
"Hey Russell! Been a while, hasn't it?"
"I know. So, you gotten any stock whilst I've been away?"
"Plenty! Tons of new cars have came in pretty recently."

"We've had a couple of Imprezas..."
"Nice."

"A Tesla...yes I know..."
"Why is an electric car here? Aha."

"Some Evos..."
"Ah, of course. When there's Impreza's, there's Evos. Classic."

"We've also got this wonderful 370Z. Low mileage, 2008 spec."
"Nice! I like it."

"We got a Commodore here as well..."
"Wow, man! You don't get one of those in Italy like, ever! Nice work."

"Tempest GTO..."
"Ooh, cool."

"An RX-7..."
"Which model?"
"Bathurst R I think..."
"Nice. That's one of the rarer ones."

"A Cougar XR-7..."
"Cool. One of my favourites."

"We managed to get an Evora as well. Low mileage, around 2009 I think."

"And then we have this Corvette C3 Convertible here..."
"How many miles?"
"Less than 1000."

"You've got yourself a sale."

"What?! You can't buy one of these cars! You're part of the company!"
"So what. I can give in the money to you and you can give it to the boss. I'm sure there's enough money down at my house anyway..."
"OK then...but what if the boss finds out?"
"So be it. It's not like it's gonna matter anyway. If he's getting money, he'll be happy."
"...Alright then. Here they are, the keys. Now fork over that money."

"Right then, it's time to see what sort of potential this Corvette's got."

"Here we go..."

"Well...it's...not too bad."

"It's actually pretty nice to drive."

"I'm undoubtedly limited down these straights..."

"But I'll tell you what, this has very nice cornering."

"But I'm thinking something's...missing."

"I'm not getting too much of a thrill from driving it."

"I can't think modifications to this thing will be bad at all."

The next morning...

"Right...San Gimignano. I know a garage around here. They should be able to...spice these looks up a bit."

"I mean, they're not bad in the first place, but eh."

"Buongiorno, Enzo!"
"Ah, hello Russell! How can I help you?"
"OK then. I've got a new Corvette. C3 Convertible version, it's sitting over there right now.

"Hmm...yes, very good. So, what do you want done with it?"
"I want its looks spiced up a bit."
"So aero parts, you say?"
"Yes indeed. Maybe a new set of wheels, and if you can, is an oil change possible at this time?"
"I can do an oil change, yes. But before that, let's see what you want."
"OK then."

...

"So you're taking some PDI P525N's, and giving it these aero parts, yes?"
"Of course. And don't forget..."
"Oil change, yes. We'll be done soon. You might wanna go for a coffee while you're waiting."
"Certainly yes, I will. See you around."

Later...

"So here it is. You like it now?"
"I certainly do. It looks like a good old NASCAR now."
"Aha. I'd say the same too."

"It's mostly the front aero lip and that stock car style wing that give it away. And those GoodYear Eagles..."
"Nice to see you like it. So, you'll be off then?"

"Bye then. You're going to the GP Week at Monza, I assume?"
"Oh, of course! Who isn't?"
"I am. I'm getting the weekend off. And let me guess...Classic Muscle Car Championship?"
"I don't know yet. I'm still modifying this Corvette further so it'll probably be too fast for the championship by the time I've finished making this thing a star."
"Good. See you around."

Later that day, at San Galgano...

"So here it is. Must say the performance hasn't changed much...but it is a lot more muscle looking."

"Hey, Luca!"
"Oh, hi, Russell. I see you have a new Corvette you want to modify, I presume?"
"Of course. So then, you know the drill. Take a sheet, tick the boxes for what you want and we can get ourselves set for the task."
"OK. Thanks."

"Right...let's see. Body and Chassis...I'll probably reduce the weight a bit. It is over 1600, although the handling is fine already...it'll be even better with this. Suppose I'll get the rigidity improvement too...keep it more stable in a straight line."
"Engine mods? I suppose I'll modify the engine a bit, and give it a new ECU..."
"Intake system? I should get a new exhaust manifold, and a racing filter...should be good for more power."
"Exhaust mods...let's get a sports exhaust and a new catalytic converter."
"Right, turbo, I can only get a supercharger really. So let's do that."
"Transmission I definitely want to change. I don't wanna be stuck doing 130 all the time."
"Drivetrain...I suppose I'll get a better clutch and a new differential. Sounds good."
"Suspension I'll probably want to change. Although the Corvette felt OK before I think the feel could be improved on. New suspension for me."
"And tyres? Well, I think I'll get a soft compound sports tyre set. And...maybe some offroad tyres for kicks. Yeah."

"You chosen yet?"
"Yeah. Here's my sheet. Get to work on it."
"OK."

Later on...

"Right, it's done! You think you'll like it?"
"After a setup it should work."
"Ah, but we don't do setups of course."
"Yes...I do know. I'll have to go to the one down in Toscana. Good thing I brought those off road tyres eh?"
"Yeah. Now be on your way, and see how you do in it now. Be seeing you later."
"Bye."

"Let's go, Corvette...let's see how you've changed."

Later on, in Toscana...

"Well, you've changed a lot on tarmac..."

"But how can you face to dirt?"

"Well, it's not too bad now."

"And the boy's definitely a lot faster as well, even here."

"I love this thing now!"

"But now it's time to get this thing set up."
"Let's do it."

"Heya, Tonio."
"Yo, Russell. How's it going?"
"Well. You see that new Corvette out there?"
"Yeah?"
"That's mine. And I want a setup for it."
"OK...but what parts do you have for it?"
"Many. Got a new suspension, gearbox and differential for it..."
"Right, let's see what we can do for you. Any sort of setup?"
"Good all round..."
"Of course. Let's see what we can do about that. Bring the baby over here and let's get her set up."
"OK."

Later on...

"OK, I've extended the transmission a lot, since the old setup was obviously still so low even I couldn't get lower than them!"
"I would have gathered. It's a muscle car, after all!"
"Yeah. So now the differential's been lightened down a bit to make it an easier drive..."
"Right..."
"And the suspension's been lowered, stiffened, and camber has been extended to give you better cornering."
"Right. That's OK. So now that's it?"
"Yep. See you around!"
"Bye!"
"Oh, and by the way, Russell, you going GP Week?"
"Yeah."
"Ok, cool. Bye now!"
"Bye!"

"Right then, Corvette, let's see how you get on now."

Later on, on the tarmac in Rome...

"Ohohohoho! This thing is magnificent!"

"This transmission is spot on. Perfect for this place."

"I love the cornering as well...it's very good."

"And I just love how this thing manages to brake!"

"Yes, it could sound better...even with this new exhaust..."

"But it goes to show how good tuning is!"

"This thing is just perfect in every way."

"It's still not rivalling the Clio..."

"But I'm not regretting buying this thing ever."

"And by the end of it's lifetime, it won't have driven 1000 miles...it would have driven millions of miles."

"Man, did you see that speedster in that gold Corvette?"
"I know man...he's crazy!"
"He's just showing off because he thinks he can probably try and beat anyone."
"Not if you have anything to say about it though!"
"Of course. But there's no time for other cars now. We need to get to Monza and prepare for the GP Week. We must hurry..."

Russell has bought a Corvette and taken it from a stock one to a tuned beast in the space of one day. With the GP Week at Monza coming up very soon, every one around not just Italy, but Switzerland, France and Germany are preparing for the time when they get their chance to drive their biggest races ever and watch cars they've never seen before speeding around the Monza track at high speed. How can our heroes manage when this time comes around?

Chapter 14 - First True Steps

Prior to the trip we would be having to Monza to enjoy ourselves for the GP Week races, we had some races we would be entering as our method of practice for the events. We'd entered ourselves into all of the races we wished, and after a few practice races we came to our last one - in the same high-level race series I'd entered in the GTO at Monza. Except this time...I wasn't driving in it.

"You absolutely sure about this, Ishizaki?"
"Yeah! I've gotten the practice in the GT required to smoke some race-tuned ass."

Yes, that's right, Ishizaki was driving in my dad's GT for this race. The race in question was at Circuit de la Sarthe, which, if you think about it REALLY hard, is pretty much the same as Monza. Just a lot bigger.

Of course, this wasn't just Ishizaki we were talking about. A large number of the racers from my wet race at Monza had returned for this dry race at Le Mans - as well as a couple of new ones...

"...You did very well in the last race at Tokyo, Darren. Now try and get at least 2nd this time."
"Challenge accepted. You say just 2nd, so let me guess..."
"Yes, that retard's runner Group C wannabe is here."
"Sigh. He's a total 🤬 sometimes. He makes the races unfair, but the regulation loophole lets the GTA keep him in. Bloody 🤬.
"Don't worry about him. Just ignore him when he's up with you...he won't provide a factor in your race much anyway."
"Got it. I'm going out. I won't disappoint you, Henry."
"Right, Darren."

"I wonder if that pesky little GTO bastard is here as well..."

"So then, Dad, have you any details on the opposition?"
"Bad news. You probably won't be winning the race today."
"I expected that much. I'm still just a beginner, you know!"

Of course, Ishizaki would say that. If you remember my race at Monza, that went well and it was only my 3rd real race. But that was in the rain. Of course, Ishizaki has the faster car in his hands though...

"Right then, I'm going onto the grid. See you guys after this."
"Good luck, Ishizaki-kun. You'll need it."
"Later, mate. Good luck!"

"He's way out of his league, Dad. Don't you always overestimate someone's ability?"
"I underestimated your ability last time."
"That wasn't me, that was the car."
"Well, you might as well get reputation early."
"Well, if that's your idea of racing..."

And then, 15 minutes later, it was time for the race and what would almost certainly result in failure...on two fronts.

"Huh, wow. What an easy bunch I have ahead of me."

"It's useless. I'm totally underpowered!"

"Aw man, why am I doing this? Why?!?!?!?!"

"This is not good, being put back in a place like this. Blasphemy!!!!!"

"GT-R power for the win! Lol."

"Why is there another Citroen on track with me?"

"This Fairlady Z should prove more powerful than the 350Z up ahead."

"I dunno how I'm in last again. This is ludicrous."

As the 12 super fast cars got their way off the line, Ishizaki almost immediately got by the 350Z.

"Well, he's made one place already..."

"Arrgh, man! This thing always hits me so hard! Haha!"

Next up he came to the weird Group C hybrid. Then he got...past it?!

"Wow, I'm past that thing! Damn it!"
"?!!"

Ishizaki immediately set about catching up to the group in front - including the Gulf GT, the slow starting NSX and Darren's Zonda.

"Let's see how well these guys can handle it!"

And then he straight away passed the NSX.

"Whoa, that was quick!"
"I'm totally outclassed! Help me!!!"

Then the cars made their way down the Mulsanne.

"Dude, get off my ass!"
"Look, you're gonna have to give up soon, so just do it now."

But another thing was closing in at a gargantuan rate of knots, as Darren's Zonda was being battled with by Ishizaki.

"....."
"Oh no! It's that monstrosity!"
"Don't even think about it."

And soon, Darren found himself down by two positions as Ishizaki tried helplessly to fight against the giant-power Group C car coming up to him.

"Help!"
"....!"
"Well, that's him out of the way."

And Ishizaki would pass the Gulf GT into the first Mulsanne chicane.

"Woo! Yeah!"
"No! Where did he come from?"

Then the Group C car came crashing in once again. Dad radioed in Ishizaki to tell him the gravity of the situation.

"Ishizaki, that car has 920bhp and weighs 900kg. Trust me, there's no point in fighting it off..."
"But I don't wanna lose any positions!"
"Fair enough then...just see for yourself. It won't go well, I tell you."

Yet Ishizaki decided to keep fending him off.

"Come on man, can't you realize I'm not gonna let you overtake?"
"!!!!!"

This driver was serious.

"No, you can't!"
"!!!!!!!"

But Ishizaki still kept on fighting!

"Wow, he's keeping it up!"
"That's pretty impressive."

"He must be as angry as a bull right now!"
"!!!!!!!!!"

However, more good news for Ishizaki was that the Carbon Ford GT ahead of them was being caught up by the two of them.

"Whoa god they're getting close!"
"How about if I just pass this thing instead?"

Ishizaki came to the end of the straight, then braked hard for the Mulsanne corner...

"Come on car!"
"No! You're not getting past me!"

Then he swerved left then right, hitting the GT as he came across the track...

"Aargh no! I'm losing it!"
"Oi, you 🤬! Don't touch my 🤬 ass, you 🤬!"

...before coming closer to the wall, with those in front seeing him as no more than a smoke bomb...

"No!!! I'm off!!!!"
"Serves you right, 🤬!"

...and then making light contact with the wall.

"No!!! I've hit the wall!!!"
"Haha, what a fail at driving! Hahaha!"

He ended up the wrong way, with a light tap from the Group C replica to accompany him back into position.

"No! This has all gone wrong!"
"....!!!"

And before he knew it the battle between Darren's Zonda and the Gulf GT was blocked off by him!

"Hey! It's that GT by Citroen guy!"
"Oh god, just what I don't need now. A car in front of me."

Ishizaki reversed back to avoid a collision.

"Whoa, that was close...too close."

And with the GT now passed by the Zonda...

"Come on, car! Let's get this back!"

Ishizaki set his sights on him again.

"No! Get off me, you stupid 🤬!"

But then, at the end of Indianapolis...

"No! I've gone off again!!"

...he went way off again.

"No! I can't believe this!"

Once he recovered he'd been put back to seventh, where he'd started the race from.

"Oh my god this is retarded...why can't I keep this baby boy on the track?"

But it was no time for pondering. Ishizaki quickly set about latching himself back onto the PD GT and getting back to 6th.

"This should be no problem."

And then it was gone in a flash. Next up was the Citroen GT ahead of him.

"Well that was easy..."

And before long he was dispossessed of his 5th place come the chicanes.

"Yeah! This is good."
"Non! I cannot be passed by le other Citroen!"

And through the next chicane the Ford GT Gulf was gone too.

"Wow, this guy's come out of nowhere again."
"Yes! Another place."
"No! I can't lose a position to him now!"

When the 2nd lap started, the GT fought back immediately with strong brute power down the home straight.

"Yaargh! You can't stay there for long, surely!"
"I won't lose to you this time!"

Ishizaki did indeed stay ahead.

"Whoa...this has been eventful already!"

As the bunch came down to Mulsanne again, Darren's Zonda was gone in a flash...

"Bye again!"
"Huh? The speed of that thing...it's totally owned me..."

"So then, who's up next?"

It was the Carbon GT, who had long been passed by that Group C car.

"No! I'm not going down to 3rd!"
"Hell yeah! I'm gonna do it..."

And yep, he was ahead. He was into 2nd, and it wasn't likely he was gonna move from there...the Group C car had long since scattered off into the distance. So now it was just a case of seeing how much time he could keep against it...

Until he came up to Indianapolis again, that is.

"God, I'm getting understeer!"

And there he ran off again.

"No! Not this again!"

The consequent slowdown dropped him to 4th, so he'd have to pass Darren's Zonda again as well as the Carbon GT.

Down at Arnage, it got slightly dirty...

"Aargh, what are you doing? You 🤬."
"Sorry!"

But even despite the taste of it, it was a pass so he was up into 3rd.

"Woo! Into 3rd again!"
"Sigh. What a disrespectful driver."

He then came up to the Porsche Curves...

"Come on, boy! Let's do this!"
"...Outside line?!!"

...and pulled off a superb pass on the GT. Round the outside, like he said.

"Whoa! Oh my god!"
"Damn it, that's not good."

And after that, it really WAS just a matter of seeing how fast he could go compared to the Group C car. He had one lap to compare himself with it, anyway...

"Right, I should be keeping second."

And as he was going around the Sarthe circuit for the final time...

...he really was making no mistakes.

Just keeping his foot down and leaving all his other competitors in the dust.

It had been a truly magnificent run from him.

And he'd done enough to keep himself in 2nd for the rest of the race.

And this time, he didn't run into the gravel at Indianapolis...

...just kept it on the right side of the track.

But what of the battle for 3rd place?

"I can make this for sure."
"Come on GT! Make me proud!"

"Come on, Zonda. Get the guy through the corner..."
"I'm losing out!"

"No! Down to 4th!"
"Good. Up to 3rd..."

"Aargh, no! Wide through Maison Blanche!"
"Haha! That's what you get for being a bad boy like that."

Ishizaki battled on through the circuit until he finally got to the chicanes.

"It's been a truly great drive, GT...hope I'll see you again."

And while he hadn't won...

".......Pathetic fools."

He had come home a strong 2nd and beaten everyone else possible.

"Woo! 2nd place! Yeah!"

And in the end...

"Don't pass me now, fool."
"Come on! COME ONNNNN!!!!!!!!!"

It was the Ford GT that would get 3rd.

"YES! Into 3rd at the last corner! YES!"
"No! How can I lose a podium now? Sigh...the boss won't be happy at all with this."

"Wow, Ishizaki, you did a great job."
"Thanks."
"I can't say much more other than that was amazing."
"Thanks to you, too."
"Oh, certainly. And by the way, do you wanna know how close the copy Group C was?"
"Go on then..."
"Last lap, the Group C did it in 3:47.8. You did your last lap in 3:48.3. You were 7 tenths shy of a car that has nearly 1/2 our power added on and nearly a 1/4 of our weight taken away. Amazing mate."
"And the final gap?"
"Just 8.6. No one has come closer to the Group C car in a race ever on a track other than the Superspeedway Indy."
"Well why don't we go there and race it there then?"
"Erm...that race is already done."
"Oh, OK then. So shall we get going back home to Bern then? We've finished our practice races now for the GP Week, so why don't we go home and have a break before the big week?"
"Yes, certainly."
"OK. Monza, here I come!"
"Heh. That's the spirit, Ishizaki."
"Let's go!"
"Woo! Yeah!"

"Darren...you disappoint."
"But seriously, if you think about it-"
"I have my own thoughts. I'm gonna say you could have done so much better than just 4th."
"...OK, maybe...but-"
"No buts. Or ifs. You're gonna try again at the Nurburgring in the last race. And if you don't get at least, at LEAST a podium..."
"Yes?"
"You're out."
"Yes, Henry."
"Right, let's get back to London. We've got to prepare properly for GP Week now, so let's go."
"Indeed. Let's go."

Ishizaki has entered his first truly hardcore professional event, and with a 2nd place in the event behind only a mysterious and odd Group C replica, he now looks primed and ready to take out some competition when GP Week comes. What can both him and Jason do once the time comes to race in the GP Week?

Who is the mysterious guy in the Jag?

Lol you weren't supposed to say what it is.

But even I don't entirely know who the person in the Jag is. No one knows. I just know he's mysterious and terrorizes the competitors in this event. Though it's said he acts perfectly normally when he's in an event where his car is actually a fair match for the other cars in the race.

In fact I was almost planning to try and beat the Jag before I spun out (completely by accident, I tell you. ) and just let it get away. And also I had no idea my GT tune would be good enough to get within 7 tenths of an XJR-9's laptime even if the AI driver of the Jag is at minimum heat possible I was even gaining on through all of the corners even though I could have sworn I was still on RH and with TCS at 5, SRF On, ASM On and Sensitivity at 0...

I just did it in the Dream Car Championship in A-Spec. It's one of the best events in the game when the XJR-9 isn't around to kill everything in sight. And when it isn't raining.

In an industrial city in Switzerland, a race was getting ready to take off.

"So is this all of them?"
"One more. We've got a privateer Clio entering in this race."
"A Clio?! Hah, he's having a laugh. He won't stand a chance against any of us!"
"And here it comes."

"Oh, wait a minute...isn't that...Russell's Clio? Oh god."

"Hello all."
"Hi, Russell!"
"Oh, hey Zach. How's it going with you and your CT230R?"

"It's going great, thanks. So tell me, Russ...why did you bother to enter in your Clio?"
"I'm practicing for the GP Week."
"Of course you would be. But why here?"
"I though this was the best race I could enter. Close by, good time, all that."
"OK then...but are you sure you're gonna stand any chance of beating us at all?"
"Oh...you'll see. You will see..."
"Ah, that's how I remember you Russ. Classic determination as ever..."

What must be done

A certain scene at SSR5 for the next chapter which will require exactly 4 willing soldiers to fight for an acting spot in the fan fic. The ruling is a bit complicated, so listen well.

Basically the scene will start with 4 cars lined up to the side of the track, which will, after a conversation, result in a chase. So practice the course (remember also, Reverse direction!) well in the car you choose to use.

Any people who don't follow the instructions, start ramming and crashing will get the boot. Except the chase of course. However, even then, don't actually make me spin out - just try and nudge me off, then lift off so I can get away. Hang on, I'm spoiling it, aren't I?

I will give the directions for the scene in the lobby chat as well. And yes, I do have a mic, but I don't use it.

When is it?

Tomorrow, Wednesday 6th July, with a lobby that'll be open from 1600 UTC - 1800 UTC (the time zone converter is here if you need it). Though only the beginning of the lobby's setup will be the set up for the fan fic. The rest will probably be just races, so come along after if you can.

Where will it be held?

My private lobby. If you do sign up, make sure you add me to your PSN friends list by adding V16T91 to your friends list. If you don't, then you're not gonna be able to get in (unless you can get in through a friend).

What car will I need?

This is easily the most complex part of the description, so you'll need to listen carefully.

The cars you need to use are all specific, but I only need one of these cars in the lobby to make it work. These are the cars that need to be in the scene:

(Either a black or purple Pagani Zonda R) TAKEN.
(Pagani Zonda LM Race Car) TAKEN.
(Any two road Zonda's, one silver, the other purple) - BOTH TAKEN.

However, since I only need one of these cars in the scene, post in this thread which car you would want to use the most. And remember, first come, first serve.

What modifications should I have?

The Zonda R and Zonda LM should be kept stock (you can adjust power limiter and ballast on the Zonda R if you wish, and of course settings), but if you're using one of the road Zonda's, then you can go mad. Give them any mods you want, but try to keep them no more than equal to the Zonda LM's spec (preferably without power limiting).
