GT producer - Damage still the same.

Why are you dissapointed? This is not NFS, the producer wants people to see the beauty of the cars, not smash them up. I could care less about damage. It be would neat if it was a little better, but it really doesn't bother me. GT is a racing game where crashing will loose you the race, its Burnout paradise.

He did say it is similar to GT5, so there is a chance that it could be slightly better.

Burnout Paradise had some pretty darn good damage system. One of the bests in a racing game I have seen.

prefer still waiting 3 year more for a good GT6...
Its the same situation after GT2 with GT3, few cars but with nice design graffics.
of course, GT3 dont have standards cars lol.

Cual es la prisa KY? :/ esperamos algo mejor.

I hate the way the damage currently is, where each manufacturer seems to have their own specifc rules and each type of car has its own rules as well.

How could you possibly come to the conclusion that AI will be the same after reading the response?

Am I missing something? AI wasn't mentioned in the article.

As far as damage I don't care. I can't see it when I'm driving anyway. I wish they'd quit wasting time on it if they're going to do such a halfhearted job of it anyway.

I would prefer no damage to the kind of damage we have, I would love them to give us a no physical damage option. What's the point anyways? I don't play to wreck my cars and when I do I have no interest in anything other than restarting the race. Also, the current damage model just looks awful. The cars get scuffed and melted and thats it, they look ugly but not realistically damaged. The only cars that got proper damage modelling as far as I know are the WRC cars, and even so you have to decidedly smash the car a good couple of times until bodyparts begin to fall off.

Keeping the same damage is fine by me (it would be even better if they didn't kept it at all...), but I think we definitely need some better AI that doesn't force you to use a 50PP inferior car if you want to have a good race.

The only thing I care about is mechanical damage and how cars behave in a collision. They might as well not bother with visual damage at all in sims since no one gets it right anyway.

Saw that coming, and couldn't care less for it!
There is no good damage model for this gen, deal with it...

What's next? Same bad AI and boring racing? This game is looking more and more like Gt5 spec III.. Major disappointment.

Gran Turismo, the only sim where you can punt, crash your way past cars and into walls with impunity, on your way to victory lol.

They really are losing touch.

Meh. I agree with the others. Damage in a GT game is kinda meh. And I've seen the "better" damage model in Forza and it's not much better. The truth is, with licensed cars, damage models will always be meh unless you're doing single make games.

then don't call GT, the "real car simulator"... :sly:

Damage makes you drive more realistically and more cautiously, like for RL... You don't take unnecessary risk without consequences. It teaches you how to behave in a race environment (especially online).

chromatic 9 (A well known GT Screentshot artist) picture of Project CARS alfa stage visual damage, it shows you that other game creators are not seeing GT as the king anymore (in graphic as in other field):

Honestly, who didn't see this coming?

Knew damage would be unchanged once they announced standard cars are returning. How would it be possible to give standard and premium cars an equal level of damage? Its just not possible.

Can anybody really say the above wouldnt add to the game? That damage isn't needed? I use to make excuses for Polyphony Digital, but not anymore. I kissed their butt and was one of their biggest apologists all the way up to GT5. But now, after it appears they've learned little to nothing from GT5, Im not giving them the benefit of a doubt anymore

^ Seen it all and it's not good enough for me. At least not good enough to be that big a deal to me.

Mechanical damage on the other hand...

WHat? Codies's games ,Forza,NFS,Burnout and 5 year old racing sims have atleast a good damage model.

PD don't even try and that PD want you to see the beauty of cars is frankly idiotic,I'm sorry but for a person who races real cars and speaks about the drama of racing ,Kaz has no reason to implement such a half arsed damage system.

I still remember E3 when GT5 was announced and we saw that damaged Impreza everyone was excited that finally PD have fixed a fatal flaw in GT,way to mess that up.

visual and mechanical are one, I agree, Project CARS producers knows it too and are coding also the mecahnical dammage which goes along with the already amazing visual damage... where is GT6 damage? nowhere as usual.

I would love for gt to have that type of damage but to accomplish that they would have to completely change their way of modeling cars.To be honest I figured after they posted screens of the car modeling process I sorta knew the physical damage would be the same.To get that type of damage they would have to model each part ( or fenders doors hood and trunk) separately.

@dude27 yea Slightly mad made nfs shift too which had good damage. They are really one of the few that got it right.

lol , of those games only burnout has good damage model, seriously you think forza has a good damage model ? Still 3 of 4 games you mention are 30 fps and 720p at max, wonder why ?

I don't think the level of damage in those games would be possible in GT6 because the premium cars are just a shell and don't have internal/mechanical parts modeled. So it would be possible to have some deformation but parts falling off would be very limited (hence the WRC cars in GT5).

As for me, damage in Gran Turismo has never been a big deal and I don't care much about it.

I am fairly certain it's not entirely PD's fault. When you look at the damage the WRC cars can take or even some of the stuff in the pre-release demos, where the cars bend and come apart, then you realise they are capable of it... I just think they have some awful licenses with the manufacturers that prevents them doing real damage to the car, especially the interior.

GT6 is going to have the same issue.

Out of ALL those games ,ALL have a better damage model and what does fps have anything to do with having a good damage model exactly ? :odd:

The magic word is console "horse power", in GT5 it gone for other things , and from the sales perspective it's the better way.
