GT Racing - GT1, GT3, Blancpain Endurance Series & National GT SeriesSports Cars

Ginetta will homologate their G55 for GT3. National events this season, and an international homologation for next year. Powered by a V8 with 540hp from Nissan.

Meaning?

We've known about the Nissan GT-R GT3 for quite some time, unlikely to see it being run in 'GT1' though. If I remember correctly RJN Motorsport will be running it in Blancpain Endurance Series though.

Might see a couple in national championships as well.

And in the european GT3 championship >

If I recall correctly no teams have confirmed for the GT-R in GT3 European Championship yet. In fact, in general there's been very little news on the GT3 Euro series.

I think it's just listed on that site as an eligible car to take part in the series, not actually confirmed with a full season entry - as of yet at least.

Certainly is a lovely car, shame it hasn't been gifted the performance it probably deserves - a poor showing in the Dubai 24H & at Donington British GT probably hasn't helped it's reputation. It is however being developed by the same guys that ran the GT-R GT1 so hopefully it'll improve.

Having photographed one in the flesh (at Donington) I can also confirm that it sounds epic!

I hope some team enters the championship with one, one think I like in the european GT3 championship is the number of diferent cars competing.

I don't think that's going to be case this year to be brutally honest.

GT1 WC & GT3 both seem to be suffering - probably due to the one hour format that they've both been given. If you want a variety of different cars competing I'd probably start looking into the Blancpain Endurance Series. BES runs GT3/GT4 format in 3 hour races and the entry list is already looking stronger than both GT1 & GT3 Euro put together!

For a big variety of GT3 cars the best series IMO is the ADAC GT Masters (German GT3 championship) but unfortunatly I dont get TV coverage of it.

It's a 3.8 V6TT in the GT3 GTR, 4.5 V8 in the GT1....

it used to be a 5.5 in 2010 and 2011 Im not sure in 2012... maybe if you could share you info?

As predicted the GT1 GT-R features a front mounted naturally aspirated V8 engine, a VK56DE with a displacement of 5,552cc. The VK develops 600hp and more than 650Nm of torque. It’s mated to a Ricardo 6 speed transaxle via a 5.5″ carbon triple plate clutch. All this drives only the rear wheels. Carbon brakes and pads all round are clamped by 6 piston front and 6 piston rear calipers. Putting the power to the ground are 18″ x 13″ Rays forged wheels all round.

I assume that he believed there to be a connection with the GT1's V8 and the production V8's found in Infiniti's, which are 4.5l.

Either way, I now know for sure that he doesn't know what he's talking about all the time and isn't right just because he says it.

Haha you guys are classic, yeah my bad it's the 5.5l and it's not from the Infiniti but based on the V8 from the Triton....

Classic? you where the one to point out that I was wrong when I said I knew for a fact...

and The VK56DE engine is used by the following Nissan cars

2004–present Nissan Armada, 317 hp (236 kW) and 385 lb·ft (522 N·m)
2004–present Nissan Titan, 317 hp (236 kW) and 385 lb·ft (522 N·m)
2004–2010 Infiniti QX56, 320 hp (240 kW) and 393 lb·ft (533 N·m)
2008–present Nissan Pathfinder, 310 hp (230 kW) and 388 lb·ft (526 N·m)
2009–present Nissan GT-R GT1, 600 hp (450 kW) and 479 lb·ft (649 N·m)

Seems I've mixed Triton with Titan, don't Mitsubishi make the Triton? Really shouldn't post first thing in the morning

Snaeper

This is what I'm calling a classic line, don't go Captain Negative because you've misunderstood what I meant. Whoopdedoo I said one thing in reply to what you said, you backed up your claim and I said fair enough, what do you not understand about that?

I think that one is running in the ADAC GT Masters if I recall correctly, but a nice livery none the less!

It's part of a two car team running in the VLN series this year and will also be at the Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The new McLaren MP4-12C livery:

Yet another great gt car that we will never see in gt5 in racing form. I dont know why PD sponsors alot of cars that do the nur24 and race in alot of gt series in eruope but wont put any in game. I guess if its not the GT-R Kaz raced in they dont care.

Actually, PD sponsors the VLN series, which runs the Nurb24hr. All the cars in the series wear that GT5 banner on the window.
