GT Racing - GT1, GT3, Blancpain Endurance Series & National GT SeriesSports Cars

I've always thought it would be a good idea for youtube to get into the streaming business. But that's awesome news!

This is a fantastic news! Finally, things are getting better. We no longer have the coverage in Malaysia despite having them last year. Definitely a fantastic news for fans without the coverage.

I have to say, looking at the GT1 World calendar this year ... I'm not wildly impressed by it. I'd ditch half the circuits without a moment's hesitation, and while the other half are okay, I'm pretty sure I could find better choices for them. Ideally, this is what I think a good GT1 calendar would look like:

1) Algarve, Portugal
2) Aragon, Spain
3) Lausitzring, Germany
4) Imola, Italy
5) Red Bull Ring, Austria
6) Istanbul Park, Turkey
7) Buddh International, India
8) Adelaide Parklands, Australia
9) Autopolis, Japan
10) Barber Motorsports Park, USA
11) Hermanos Rodriguez, Mexico
12) Sao Paulo Sambadrome, Brazil

I know, I've skipped over the big names, like Spa and Silverstone and Interlagos. But the idea was to come up with a calendar that used very good circuits without resorting to the obvious choices. It would probably never happen, but I think it would make for some great racing year-round.

The GT1 series will be live-streamed on YouTube this year:

Also, the GT1 World website has been totally revised. It looks much better now.

This is excellent news, especially after the disaster that Dailymotion has provided in recent months. Can't wait to see how good the quality is - only a few more days to find out!

As for the GT1 calendar, I feel they've missed a trick. I understand they've wanted to go further overseas than they've done previously but there is a heavy, heavy bias towards Asia and circuits in Europe that perhaps aren't as popular as they could be. I get the feeling the SRO has pulled a bit of a Bernie E here and gone to circuits in markets which will make them money than going to circuits which can actually provide some decent racing.

Neither does Malaysia.
I can only watch that replay. IF only i get lucky.

I'll let Neil Degrass Tyson, a great astrophysicist do the talking.

Also, I've been here long enough and on several threads that you've been and not once did I sound like that. Way to make leaps and bounds though 👍

Jav
Yeah, I think he men't modeling the actual race cars and accurately replicate the car's performance so we don't have to use road cars and call it a racing series wich quite frankly is kind of pathetic...

Yes, thank you Jav for understanding.

Also Jav, why is the Camaro GT3 running 650hp the rest of the cars seem low on power in comparison and I think the weight of it is right under 1300 kg. Well when compared with others the weight to ratio doesn't seem to match.

Don't take any notice of car stats for GT3 cars. Balance Of Performance means they are totally meaningless.

I would assume the cars are equal. That was the entire point of the GT World regulations - to bring GT1 and GT3 cars together on a level playing field.

Thanks Tired Tyres, so what should I use as a gauge for success, I mean should I just have trust/faith that the cars are equal?

You can't. The cars are in constant development. Also Drivers in BOP tests have a tendency not to drive as fast as they can.

There are no GT1 cars. Only GT3. I really really wish they would change the title of that bloody championship! What is wrong with GT World Championship?

I get that but the FIA doesn't provide concrete numbers from what I could find, unlike other series that is. I've been looking all yesterday and early this morning since I asked about it yesterday. I just wanted to see the specifications for each car to get an image of how they stack up, this is the first time I've looked in depth to this series. That past couple years I caught maybe one or two races.

Figures, every series it seems does the sandbagging trick why should I think this one is different, thanks again Tired.

Really strong line up for British GT I think, some superb drivers in the mix as well. Nice to see that GT4 is progressively getting stronger as too.

Yes that does look good. It's a shame it's not live streamed.

I didn't realise Jann Mardenborough was in this race.

In edited highlights form. ^

It's not shown live anywhere although the last race last season was streamed of my memory is working correctly.

Edit. No it's not. That was a Britcar race I was thinking of.

For what I can see on the updated GT1 site the cars are running between 500 and 535 hp, so going from that they should be pretty even.
Also a bit off topic but the Radio LeMans guys where saying that the GT3/GT1 cars are already running 1 second faster than the GT-E cars arround Paul Ricard. They where explaining how the GT3/GT1 car's evolution is much faster than the GT-E cars, it'll be interesting how the cars compare at the end of this season...

There is a Ford GT, but from what I'm aware they aren't racing until the next round. But they are on the official entry list!

There still a few changes to be made the Aston Martin Advantage will replace the DBRS9 in that video for once and I think that there might be another Porsche and two Ford GTs.

I'm glad you bring that up. Also which race do I watch for the Camaro?
