OK people this is it. The videos has been sent to Jordan, and as soon as he cope with them, you'll be able to see them. As you'll be able to see in download section, there are 5 videos in total when upload ends:
- Nurburgring full-lap with 120d, road (full simulation) tyres,
- Capri (Costa di Amalfi) full-lap with 120i, road tyres,
- Capri replay,
- NY BMW Series 1 drive full-lap 120i, sports tyres VS. NY Prologue drive full-lap with Civic Type R, sports tyres,
- Collision Mayhem educational video for all tha wall-riders.
NOTE: NY Compo video will be uploaded tommorow (Saturday), as Calisto have to finish its coding.
Did Nurb with road tyres. Road tyres enables full-simulation mode, with full-suspension-work and full-road-bumpiness-mapping enabled. Guess this mode is closest so far to the future simulation mode in game. You'll notice that road tyres are skidding as hell, and they are very sensitive to drive, as simulation tyres seen in GT3. With them included in first-pick, Gran Turismo finally got the real-life feeling from the start (most drivers I know never even laid their hands on simulation tyres in GT3, which is shame), just because you need to maintain a prefect speed for every corner if you don't want to kiss the fence/sandtrap/wall/whatever. Great stuff.
Did Capri with road tyres too, notice the speed trough corners - there are no more idiotic speeds.
NOTICE 4 DRIFTAZ: Drifting with road-tyres will make you go crazy. It is now a true skill to master, even for the professionals (me?
).
Did NY with sports tyres, just to make a decent compo with Prologue. Have chosen Civic Type R because of the best comparison, and managed to drive both laps almost in exact speeds. Difference is 1 sec, so feel free to call me names
.
As for tyres, road are simulation ones, sports are closest to ones seen in Prologue game and simulation mode of game in GT3 (not the simulation tyres in GT3 though), while arcade tyres are very fun to drive because you can do lot of impossible things with them and they remind me on driving model of GT and GT2. True surprises are coming in the final build of the game, I suppose.
Collision Mayhem video shows the new collision effect, did it on Nurb. Notice that slamming into wall make the car to lose grip in total, leaving you without the control in second or two. In last part of the video you'll see how collision-effect is limited to an bumper (driver's eye) cam, probably in wish that inexperienced drivers who drive from other two perspectives wouldn't get frustrated before switching to the bumper cam. Nice touch for keeping the game more accessible to wider audience. Still, we have to wait and see what will happen with the 10 sec. penalty, seen in Prologue.
All videos are divx, full-laps are coded with 15000 kbit/s video-bit-rate, others with 10000, all videos are in 720x400 resolution, anamorphic wide-screen and 128 kbit/s stereo audio. I did de-interlace, not happy with that because some details have been lost, but you want it so - have it
.
NOTICE THAT QuickTime IS NOT playing these divxez properly - there are noticeable problems with compression and sound. If you are a MAC USER, go to
www.versiontracker.com or
www.macupdate.com and download superior "VLC" video-player to solve these problems. Didn't try these videos on PC, but I guess they will work flawlessly.
Feel free to download these babies, best to all who will steal them from here, and ruin them with further compression or false-crediting.
These videos have been done in best-manner exclusively and respectfully for gtplanet.net. This time I did not credited anyone or anything, just to make the watching experience as best as possible. So, I will just ask anyone who will take this videos for further re-posting (and respectfully, gaining some traffic on their web-pages) to credit gtplanet.net. If you take them and not do so - do so (here was a very nice offense, but I removed it because of the younger readers
).
I'm using this opportunity to remember once more of legendary granturismo.com, and Kenji-man. Thanks to Jordan and others for great work here on gtplanet.net and for letting me post this videos here.
Hope that all of ya will get a chance to have this baby-disc on 18th September. See ya all in Croatia in the next summer.
