The Nuerburgring video I was downloading stopped at 50%... server overload I guess.
I've managed to watch the unfinished part though... But Amar! With diesel engines you don't need to shift gears at those high rpms (over 5000 rpms) since power decreases very quickly after its peak (for the 120d, 4000 rpms). And there's no need to worry for low revs power, since modern turbodiesels (including the bmw 2.0) have plenty of low-end torque. In real life, turbodiesel engines can be seriously damaged by overrevving, because the diesel fuel burning process is much more violent than petrol ignition. 5500 rpms (like in the video) or more could be fatal. Most europan diesel cars have the rev limiter set not much beyond peak power. The BMW in game seems to go much further than that! I don't know if the real version does/will do, too.
Oh, by the way, in game the turbo gauge is missing, weird.
