Ok so no new date yet; now we must wait some more.đź‘Ž:yuck::ouch::scared:
The count down starts again..

Anyone else want to join in a vigil for the death of the previous U.S. release date? I am pro-choice but this is one that should have been born..

:(
I'm with you one that. Today was such a beautiful day to release the game. Why the hell I'm I even saying it, Sony and PD aren't looking any way. They don't need to watch Comedy Central, they just come here

Since today is supposed to be the official release date, we need to create a new thread like the "countdown to GT5" thread...only this would count the number of + days since the supposed official release.

Plz somebody create this thread ( because I don't have enough posts lol)

Let's solve all the speculation with some fact: the game will be released on one of the following days:

Nov. 23 or 30
Dec. 7, 14, 21 or 28
Jan. 4, 11, 18 or 25
Feb. 1, 8, 15 or 22
March 1, 8, 15, 22 or 29
April 5, 12, 19 or 26
May 3, 10, 17, 24 or 31

I think we can safely assume it will be out by the end of May.

Way to narrow it down! Thanks. I'm marking my calendar now.

I would, but seems everyone here is either dry of humor, or always having a bad day, and closes my threads half the time :grumpy:.
Ah well, back to complaining about the delay. I'll be watching the 2nd season premiere of The Tester; those lucky fools got the fully rigged out GT5 demo

I'm glad I have no idea what jailbreaking a console or phone even MEANS.

Amazon sent me a letter saying the date is now Dec. 31

Yes, also recieved that Dear John Letter too, as what was expected.

Looking back at previous games, what is the minimum amount of time between the time the release date was announced & the day it was released?. Usually there is a week or two at least of separation at minimum.

Unfortunately the new TVs are not likely to last 10-15 years like the old ones did. I have a 65 SD projector set in the family room which is 13 years old and going strong. I have a 32 inch 1080i which died after 3 years and a 37 inch 1080p which is almost 1 year old now. My brother has also went through 3 LCD or Plasma TVs in the last 10 years.

Yeah it's pretty sad really. My dad has two tiny TVs from the '80s that still work fine. The 27" LCD he bought three years ago died last month.

It's bad we used to buy electronics so they would last a while. Now we expect them to fail.

Sony said they would announce the 'new' release date before end of October

A lot of things were said about this game that came to pass. Why does anyone believe a word they read regarding release dates and announcements for this game?

If they tell me tomorrow it's coming out in december, I will not believe that will actually happen until I see it on a shelf.

Emotional stress? It's a videogame. They're trying to get it done, sounds like its getting hung up in corporate politics to me, so they'll get it out when they can. Until then go play something else.

I cant understand why people are reacting the way they are to this.

Surely it should be..

"The countdown to the release of the release date for the release date of Gran Turismo 5"

But by how we have got nothing so far it may aswell be a countdown to the new year.

But whos knows I know I don't but their is the GT Awards show at SEMA to go so hopefully something will be announced then.đź‘Ť

One thing is for sure, there is more going on here than meets the eye. How can a schedule slip take you from a definite release date of Nov 2 to not even being able to state a release date a month later. That's really a bit much of a stretch. If the blu-ray production schedule was the issue, you simply look forward, figure out what needs to get bumped or where there is an available slot and reschedule. You don't throw up your hands and go 'We have no idea now when we'll be able to ship this thing'.

And seriously is there *any* Blu-ray that Sony are producing that is more on the radar than GT5 that it couldn't be bumped for GT5, and here the implication is that *all* of the blu-ray production is more important - you know, all of those low quality movies that barely justify DVD quality that they are shipping on blu-ray just to boost the numbers.

So what it comes down to is Sony aren't shipping it because they don't want to ship it, and therein lies a very interesting question ... why? Is the game not finished? I doubt it because after all of this time I'll bet they wouldn't have committed to the Nov 2 release date (PD that is) if they weren't really close to completion, so the chance of them getting to Nov 2 and still having no idea when it's going to be finished seems unlikely.

My guess, and I'm absolutely sure you'll never hear this from an official source, is the exchange rate. Sony know that whenever they release GT5 it will be a mega-hit (even allowing for those who've vowed not to buy the game if it doesn't ship before Christmas). With the weak exchange rate Sony just aren't going to make as much money as they could have and I think they are waiting for the exchange rate to improve before they release and collect their pile of cash for first run sales.

So if you want to figure out when it will be released, watch the exchange rate and look for a significant improvement.

Not a single person on this site knows if that's actually what caused the delay. That's just what they told us, we don't really know if that's the truth. Maybe there is some critical bug with the game and they don't want to worry anyone.

If people start hearing there are game breaking bugs this late in the development, some will lose confidence the game will be out anytime soon and go buy Forza or something. They don't want that information getting out, so they make up a less damaging excuse. Don't take everything you read so seriously, these are business men trying to tell you what you want to hear.

I don't believe it is what caused the delay, but that's what we were told. My point was what we are being told doesn't make sense ... therefore we're not getting the full story. A bug is not going to halt shipment as my expectation (and I doubt too many here would disagree) is that the first thing that's going to happen when I put GT5 in my PS3 is a message will come up saying 'Downloading latest updates and patches'. If you understand the software development cycle there is a long time between code freeze and a customer getting a disc in hand.

I'm going to say that this is the least likely reason I've heard. Sony, being an international corporation has bank-roll in all major countries. Therefore it holds assets in those banks in dozens for currencies.

So what they'll do is release something, collect all the money in the local retailer's currency then hold for an advantageous exchange rate, then change it over.
