GT5 delayed

Sony had to be nuts to lose their free online stance and get greedy offering early demos to PSN+ users. On Live it's a given as that's how it's always been, but expecting a large user base used to free online to migrate en masse to a paid model was just blind optimism.

Yes boo hoo let's all go cry and slit our wrists because GT5 has been delayed onece again.... (dont really kill yourselves)
Yes It sucks but on the bright side the game will be better, we have stated that many times on this site that it would be better for all of us to have a working game rather than a game that has issues.

So relax and mellow out and play some other games till release
for me its better as I would have played Fallout New Vegas for about a week and then it would sit and gather dust for a few month's
go Sony (to make the game better)

The word gutted when I read this news is an understatement. However I do a theory why this might be the case.

Yesterday I posted a comment in the general discussion thread about a GT5 demo and how PSN plus hasn't been a huge success. I said in this thread that Sony have missed an opportunity because they should of released a GT5 demo for PSN plus members only. As the price of PSN plus (£39.99) is the same as retail games it would of been like selling GT5 twice!

So the delay MIGHT be due to Sony wanting to take full advantage of GT5 and use this to increase the number of subscribers to PSN plus. Im sure many would pay for this if it mean't playing the GT5 demo.

It's a good theory and i'd certainly Subscribe to PSN + If this was the case in a heartbeat... But too be honest it's really kicking us fans in the crotch some more. We've had enough of the delays now It's disappointing. Enough is enough.

467 currently looking at this thread and growing...I think they are trying to get people to anticipate it more, but it backfired. Major league:censored: up. In the mean time I'll just play Black Ops as that was gonna dominate November over GT5 anyways.

Son of a . . .

I can't believe I woke up to THIS.

What the Hell could cause a delay less than three weeks before release?!

I'm kind of relieved to see all of this genuine anger being shown by the majority of people in this thread. Usually when I check this forum, I get immediately annoyed at the fanboys, of which there are a few in here, like that one guy who called everybody a "loser" for being disappointed that their game is delayed again.

It's warranted. This is pathetic, and in my opinion is at this point due to corruption. All this rhetoric about perfection is marketing BS, as was made even more apparent with the premium car debacle. KY and the guys spent these past 5 years cashing blank checks from SONY, flying all over the world, "testing" super cars, recording their sounds, participating in races... it was a good run. There's no excuse for this game taking this long with all of the resources they've had behind them.

100% of those who come to this forum are no doubt disappointed to have to wait longer but...

99.9% of everyone who comes to this forum will still buy GT5 and be happy with the product, despite the bellyaching going on right now.

It would be nice to get a real explanation of what caused this delay...after all the firm release date promises. In the end, when you have your customers fully sold on your product, you can drop the ball like this without too much of a consequence. They may lose a few casual buyers due to other holiday games coming out first but really this doesn't hurt Sony too much with a game like GT5.

Just remember not to buy PS4 expecting to get GT7 within a year of launch...

I will forgive them if they give us some more info on the games content.

I demand to see 1/3rd of the track and car list. Thats enough to get a good idea of what is in the game (and what we are missing out on this November) but still leave a big chunk out until the launch.

This has made me so sad. The wait for GT5 was the only thing keeping me excited during my boring lectures at university.

Could be any reason for the delay. So no one can say for sure just yet.

December has less competition by the way. Only WOW really. Also SCEE and SCEA delayed all their games. Abit unfair to just pile pressure on GT5.

The delays are expected with Polyphony Digital. But when it comes less than 3 weeks from the stated release date, they run the risk of alienating fans. People end up feeling like they're being jerked around. Obviously PD isn't doing this for fun, but there is a limit to people's patience - even hardcore fans.

Afew weeks is pretty ok imo. I am quite sickened by all the people here moaning about rushing games out quickly. All games nowadays are made quickly. Back in the day even Nintendo did this as standard. Now Nintendo do not and their quality has dropped dramatically. GT5 is now part of a dying breed of games where developers are allowed to spend their time making a quality game and not focus on yearly or every two years release. What games have had the time and attention poured on to them like GT5 as of late?

Seriously how many well polished racing game releases have we had lately? None. All of have had stupid issues and bugs at launch and not near enough content and polish as they need to work on their next yearly update. Some games like NFS Shift are not even remotely finished. I played NFS Hot Pursuit at the expo and it clearly felt like it had very little development time spent on it compared to Burnout Paradise. Polished, more area to drive in(very misleading) but less roads, variety and actual 'content' compared to driving in Burnout.

Some of you might like the whole fast factory style of development but I do not. The fact hat Kaz does not mind doing a delay at this stage shows he is still committed to what is more important. If only other developers did this.

The cause of the delay has probably been known for months...the reason they havent told you about it is to keep you on the hype train :)

But this time I think it has backfired...there is rage on every GT related board. It will eventually calm down of course, will be interesting to see if it causes permanent damage in the form of not believing future announced release dates and such.

Yup! 445 users viewing it as I'm writing.

I wonder if after the delay they will come up with features previously deemed as unlikely for GT5 such as a livery editor or cockpit views for all cars. They will obviously have worked on them since months before, but probably will publicly thank the delay for making them possible, even if the features would have most likely been almost ready if not 100% ready before the previously disclosed official release.
