GT5 delayed

100% of those who come to this forum are no doubt disappointed to have to wait longer but...

99.9% of everyone who comes to this forum will still buy GT5 and be happy with the product, despite the bellyaching going on right now.

It would be nice to get a real explanation of what caused this delay...after all the firm release date promises. In the end, when you have your customers fully sold on your product, you can drop the ball like this without too much of a consequence. They may lose a few casual buyers due to other holiday games coming out first but really this doesn't hurt Sony too much with a game like GT5.

Just remember not to buy PS4 expecting to get GT7 within a year of launch...

110% true! Lesson learned PS6 will be the first console I've ever bought, after buying a game for it. GT6 (or perhaps 5) will be in my hand before I even consider shelling out for the console.

This honestly wouldn't be so bad if PD atleast told us what was going on. If it's simply a marketing problem, and not something related to game content, then I think most of us wouldn't be as pissed and frustrated as we are.

March 2011 baby

Thats hat my money is on. Im starting to calm down and in the end im fine with the delay. Of course im not happy about it, but not a thing I can do but wait, so Ill just keep waiting.

I really do not believe that if this was supposed to come out on 11/2, they delay it, and dont even know when it will come out, that there is a great chance it will be out this year. I can easily see it getting bumped to the spring.

So Ill keep busy with fallout, and peak my head out of the cave in a few months to see if GT5 is still coming out. I wont reserve it, I wont let myself get all excited about it until I see it on a shelf, at which point ill hand my money over.

I love this quote,

How about GT5? Is development running smoothly?

It’s going well. We could put it out at any time, or we could carry on working on it. There’s always something to polish.

Could be any reason for the delay. So no one can say for sure just yet.

December has less competition by the way. Only WOW really. Also SCEE and SCEA delayed all their games. Abit unfair to just pile pressure on GT5.

Afew weeks is pretty ok imo. I am quite sickened by all the people here moaning about rushing games out quickly. All games nowadays are made quickly. Back in the day even Nintendo did this as standard. Now Nintendo do not and their quality has dropped dramatically. GT5 is now part of a dying breed of games where developers are allowed to spend their time making a quality game and not focus on yearly or every two years release. What games have had the time and attention poured on to them like GT5 as of late?

Seriously how many well polished racing game releases have we had lately? None. All of have had stupid issues and bugs at launch and not near enough content and polish as they need to work on their next yearly update. Some games like NFS Shift are not even remotely finished. I played NFS Hot Pursuit at the expo and it clearly felt like it had very little development time spent on it compared to Burnout Paradise. More area to drive in but less roads, variety and actual 'content'.

Some of you might like the whole fast factory style of development but I do not. The fact hat Kaz does not mind doing a delay at this stage shows he is still committed to what is more important. If only other developers did this.

Oh please, if everyone started doing this like kaz, we wouldnt have new games to play since 2004 :D

The word gutted when I read this news is an understatement. However I do a theory why this might be the case.

Yesterday I posted a comment in the general discussion thread about a GT5 demo and how PSN plus hasn't been a huge success. I said in this thread that Sony have missed an opportunity because they should of released a GT5 demo for PSN plus members only. As the price of PSN plus (£39.99) is the same as retail games it would of been like selling GT5 twice!

So the delay MIGHT be due to Sony wanting to take full advantage of GT5 and use this to increase the number of subscribers to PSN plus. Im sure many would pay for this if it mean't playing the GT5 demo.

It's an interesting theory, but I don't think Sony would have delayed this game. Remember, 'delay' is PD's middle name. Plus, Sony stands to lose critical Q4 holiday sales by pushing this back. The number of hardcore fans that would get a PSN Plus account would be far, far less than the number of GT5 sales. They'd (Sony) end up with smaller fourth quarter (Q4) numbers and that would enrage their shareholders and result in a depressed share price.

I think the delay is PD's call. But now that it has been confirmed, I think Sony would be wise to heed your advice and offer some sort of a free GT5 demo for PSN Plus subscribers. That would help mitigate potential financial losses from the delay.

Mr.Yamauchi, European GT5 Launch Party is very near, if you don't give us a demo, we're going to throw you some rocks. Please, don't come to Spain if you don't want to die.

I SWEAR!

I'm so stunned at this I don't know how I feel. I was one of the day counters. I could type a whole wall of text about being disappointed but the funny thing is right now I'm smiling. I hadn't planned on buying any games to play while waiting for GT5 but now I think I'm going to look in to it.

I'm so disappointed I'm numb.

🤬 Um!

I might get it or maybe not don't know yet. See how long the new release date is first before I decide.

The thing that annoys me the most is the lack of info coming from PD .... we ( GT fans) are always being surprised, and this last episode - GT5 delayed - caught us off-guard, as usual :-(

Sony needs to show it's face and give a clear explanation otherwise a new release date will have almost zero credibility...and pre-orders for that new release date will be in much lower numbers...right now, Sony needs to be honest in order to regain credibility...

Kaz....i calmed down on the standard car thing. Now I want 1000 cockpits again.

Hehe, I never really calmed down about that. I will never be happy knowing only a 5th of the cars are actually done.

Not that this delay has anything to do with that, but it will always bug me. What if I fall in love with a car, and then realize I cant drive the damn thing in the rain. Oh yeah, is that your idea of perfection Kaz, cuz I think I have a very different idea of what that word means.

So I wonder what "Holiday Season" includes.... I hope this isn't one of those "over 200 means slightly less than or slightly more than" issues where Holiday season includes date within 3 months of a Holiday or something....

As far as I'm concerned, this game hasn't got a release date, and it doesn't exist until I have it in my hand
indeed :) after i got so hyped and disappointed with PD's same poor performance with GT4's release, i vowed i wouldn't allow
myself to be so silly again over something as trivial as a video game

when its in my PS3 and installing i'll believe i have it. until then there's F1-2010, Shift, SCC, SSV8NC, GTR2, GTL, rFactor, etc etc

plenty to be going on with :D

still though, very poor PD/Sony 👎

If Kaz is really such a perfectionist, why is GT5 then littered with recycled PS2 cars?

+1

I'm just as pissed off as anyone here. I booked days off of work for this. Here's the bright(ish) side (and i know most of you will be telling me to shove it) December is the month after November, so in theory we're only waiting another month or so provided the evil corporation that is Sony doesn't change its mind AGAIN
