I just noticed that as well.

I wonder what the "advanced systems" are they are referring too.

No way to know for sure, but the first thing that I thought of were "bugs". Personally, I don't see how games before GT could've published their game already and had the new firmware, but a first party title didn't. So, I probably will always consider the most likely scenario to be bugs that arose from last minute additions.

Just thought I would throw this out there:

http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm

It's important to know the difference between frame rate of computer generated images vs real life captures moving images. Again, it's a lot to do with motion blur and that's why that 24fps movie rate is not comparable at all to what you do in a video game (unless you do some really good motion blur in the game).

Also remember that 120hz on TVs nowadays is interpolated frames. The TV takes each frame from a 60hz source and guesses a frame midway to double the frames. As with any motion interpolation it's absolutley not a perfect substitute for real 120 frames of data.

As for those claming to see things up to 200fps etc I question what display you are seeing these on... I don't think anyones CRT monitors were refreshing that fast and LCDs certainly not.

The 240 and 480 hz LCDs you see out there now are really just 120hz LCDs with strobing backlights that let them claim 240hz+ when really the image is not changing more than 120 times per second so the absolute max you could be seeing is 120fps and even then I don't think any TVs actually have 120hz capable scalers ie they cannot accept a 120hz signal. The most they can accept inputwise is 60 hz and then that is interpolated into 120hz. I may be off for 100hz PAL sets but even then those max at 100hz.

So I strongly doubt anyone here has really seen 120+ FPS and thus hasn't been able to see the difference between say 200fps and 100fps.

I have always felt the 72 fps for non motion blur computer graphics to generate a sense of motion was about spot on. That's right around where when frame rate when up I didn't notice much improvement.

Now that said that as back on a 19 inch CRT. If you have a much larger display things might change as the change in position of a moving particle ould be larger on a larger screen, but then again, the same would be true of a movie or tv image so I don't know that it makes a difference.

I thought the same thing.

It seems wierd that bugs would be found a few weeks before release, almost as if the 2nd was never really the release date. If it was a firmware issue, you would think PD would just come out and say it. I remain positive, but this coming up all of a sudden seems a little suspect.

I guess it is all just speculation at this point though.

When I said I can tell the difference between 100 and 200 FPS, it's mostly about the responsiveness of the game, when I used to play Unreal Tournament 2004 at 200 the game felt quicker and more responsive than 100, the immersion is better. The whole debate about FPS in videogame is about the responsiveness for the major part. I used to play on monitor with 100-120Hz, now I play on a HDTV at 60Hz and I still feel the difference between 100 and 200 and can "see" a slowdown from one to the other. Maybe my tv come from out of space, maybe our brain actually experience the game faster than the information coming from our eyes and, even though you don't actually see the difference between 100 and 200 FPS, it notices that 200 FPS is twice in accordance with your fingers' inputs than at 100, who knows. I don't know if I "see" the difference, but I definatly experience it in someway.

I have faith in it being out by late Nov, early Dec.
👍 Me too! Right now I really have many games to play. And I can't play them all the whole time.

Castlevania
Sengoku Basara 3
Enslaved
Medal of Honor
Sonic 4
Deathspank 2
.......And more

Thanks to PD. They gave me time to play the other games while waiting for GT5

Hey did you guys hear? GT5 might be coming out in 2008.

Haha do you guys all remember where we were 3 odd years ago all speculating when GT5 would be coming out? Honestly if if I had know it would be out late 2010 early 2011 I wouldnt have let myself think about the game at all. I would have bought an Xbox to ease the wait.

Everyday I wake up and refresh GTPlanet, and hope that there will be new news regarding the next release date after this delay.

What pisses me off most is that during E3 that happened, they definitely said it would come out on November 3rd.

I don't mind waiting for a game that comes out great, but getting me hyped up especially stating that it would definitely come out on Nov 3rd and suddenly dropping the bombshell does make it pretty annoying.

Oh well, I guess it's more time for F1 2010 :):dopey:

Same! I was pretty annoyed when I woke up that morning to see that GT had been delayed without any specified re-release date.

another +1

I can stay busy with...
F1 2010
iRacing
GTR2

I may buy the WRC 2010...but it is getting mixed reviews. Also, I never played a rally game and I was hoping to try this sport in GT5 to see if I like it. however, i think the WRC game is cheap?

WRC its ok, nothing more, if you want a hardcore sim but dated graphics try Richard Burns Rally, thats cheap:tup:

IMHO they should have called it HRC-Hovercraft Racing Championship.
It feels nothing like driving a car over a gravel road at >150 km/h.

You should definitely try the demo before buying, I wouldn't spend any money on it.

Do you own a PS3? Download the demo of WRC 2010 and try for yourself.

WRC2010 is laughably bad. F2010 is about the only new racing game any GT5 fan should consider. Anybody who played GT5P should feel right at home with F2010. Its feels about as accurate as Dirt 2 as far as physics are concerned. Its not iRacing or rFactor but for most people it is just fine.

OMG you have iRacing? me 2! :D
Whatcha race?

On Topic: The GT5 delay sucks, but hey, it's only been 5 years since i started waiting. no biggie
