The fov in the cockpit view is pretty much identical with the fov in the cockpit view from GT5:P. Its almost the same as in the GT-R.

They should have really used the Tokyo track for this GT Academy thing.

I wanted the TGS demo :(

1. It had a sneak peak at the damage.

2. It was pure eye candy.

I'll have to give some grand kudos to those who can drive from that cockpit view. It looks even worse than in Prologue that you're driving from the back seat. The view of the road is a little over 20% of your entire viewing area. Yuck... and with roofcam gone in the Time Trial, looks like I'm doing the chase cam thing.

Sure hope it's back in GT5, or I may be spending all my pleasure driving in GT4 and Prologue...

huh?!?! no roofcam in the Time Trail??? :grumpy:👎

Well I think the other thing is that the tuned 370Z has the big windshield banner at the top, which cuts down on the overall viewing area of everything around you in comparison to that GTR pic, which doesn't have the windshield banner, in which you can see more overall. I think it's very similar to GT5p if not identical.

I was unaware that game site reviewers had to be professional racing car drivers.

Not professional. I'm not professional and I can do a lot better :sly:

But seriously. Is it that hard to find a racing game fan to do the review? I don't think so...

Like someone said it's the windshield banner- in Prologue, you get it with a few cars (the BMW 135 Ti Concept). But nothing quite compare to this view when it comes to claustrophobia :)

They're previewing the game for the general public, the general public tend not to use wheels. It's not important what the guy was using for this really, but I would expect a full game review to mention what it's like with a wheel.

You dont need a wheel for a first look from a demo like that.
You can drive clean with a pad too, but most press guys arent racing game fans at all unfortunately.

YIKES!! I saw cars with windshield banners that smothering, and I couldn't believe it. It's almost like looking under a door!

You guys are right about the banner. I've been tired all day, though I did realize what I was looking at with the GT5 banner after I posted. Still, I wish Polyphony would let you set the camera for all positions, including roofcam. Their cockpit view, like most games, shows you more of the inside of the car than the road. And unless you like to drive F-16 style, in a ridiculously reclined seat and pushed back as far as it will go, that view isn't right.

I still have no clue as to why the damage engine is turned off in this demo.:indiff:

I'm sure it's progressed highly since the TGS videos nearly 3 months ago.

Because the demo was made to find the fastest driver, not to see who could crash their car the best.

*throws a snowball in your face*

You're probably right. But still! If this is the only demo/preview we'll get, it'd make sense to show off the damage engine too.:)

.

I'm pretty sure loads of egos get hurt and damaged very badly when the first top times get beaten over and over again by 12 year old kids having all of winter holidays to practice all day long ;)

let us compare! :sly:
