Not again.

Xbox360 can render in native 1080p.
http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241

And what has media format to do with game resolutions? :ouch:

And still, you don't get it. The games upscaled to 1080P aren't even really 1080P. Just like your DVD's played on the PS3. :dunce:

I guess you don't understand that the PS3 even does the same thing. Unless otherwise stated, no game is made in 1080P standard. Especially those 360 games that are DVD-ROM. And no, they are NOT using HD-DVD. HD-DVD is a dead technology, even Microsoft abandoned it. Sorry Toshiba, Microsoft and other supporters.

Pay close attention when you post replies. I never said 360 wasn't 1080P, but upscaled it is. The games are NOT NATIVE 1080P. :)

Ok, just know something. DVD's are not incapable of holding 1080p content. The disc does not care what is on it.

ya be sure to enjoy all 40 min or whatever you could Possible fit on a dvd. your still arguing something for no reason. he was not talking about 1080p movies. he was talking about textures and models that are designed for 1080p.

Just had another confirmation from a inside Sony source saying that the delay was because they wanted GT5 to support 3.50 firmware.

And they said they have been told the game will arrive on the 21st/22nd of November.

what's your proof?

Ummm....I wasn't arguing with anything he said and haven't said anything during this entire debate. I was simply stating a fact that could have been misunderstood during the entire discussion.

Some games are native 1080p as you can read in the link I've posted. That's the point you've denied.
I know most games are just upscaled.

You really have no clue what you are talking about. The size of a game has nothing to do with it's resolution. A 100KB game can be 1080p native. The 360 CAN output native 1080p, but almost no games do it. But there are confirmed cases. That beyond3d post lists some native 1080p games.

There's no such thing as models and textures designed for 1080p... Do you think PC games have all kinds of textures for all kinds of resolutions? Including those even higher then 1080p?

You have no clue what you're talking about, it's not vice versa. Where do you see DVD content putting out native 1080P or 1920X1080? You don't. Until you can show otherwise I'm not wrong. We needn't have this discussion, seriously. It's a fact that Xbox 360 can show 1080P resolutions, but it's not a fact that DVD-ROM based games are made to produce native 1080P, the 360 converts it to that signal. Do some reading up on it and you'll see.

21st November= Sunday

22nd November= Monday

👎

People need to stop with this, I could easily say "I just called Kaz, he said the game is coming out tomorrow" and it would be just as viable. :indiff:

dont know what your background is with sony... but i sure hope that its something to hold onto 👍

Chris

Guys im not saying you have to beleive it. This is just what i have heard.

This info seems beleivable to me because this would mean we have the game by christmas time AND the only excuse for the delay that seems reasonable is the 3.50 firmware update.

Virtua Tennis 3. Native 1080P, DVD-ROM...........

Ok, just know something. DVD's are not incapable of holding 1080p content. The disc does not care what is on it.

Okay, yes, DVDs are capable of 720p resolution, but they only hold about 8GB of space. Avatar's Blu-ray is on a 50GB disc, which suggests that they didn't change anything when they moved it from the big-screen to the disc. So for those who think the resolution doesn't contribute to space on disc, you're wrong. A 2 hour long 1080P movie cannot fit on a DVD. I think the Avatar DVD is in SD and only the movie would fit on a single DVD.

Most Xbox games aren't even in native 720p because the more resolution you have, the less room you have for the game. The 360 itself is perfectly capable of running native 1080p. They did run HDDVDs which were in full HD. However, the DVDs are not. 99% of games on the 360 will be upscaled to HD. It's like braking and corning, the more grip is used for braking the less grip you have for cornering, and, as I've said, the more room used for resolution and graphics the less room for the actual game.

There might be one or two games that are native in 720p but you won't find a game in native 1080p on the 360. This makes me eager to see what Mass Effect 2 will look like in true 1080p on the PS3.

But guys, this thread isn't about the capabilities of the 360, it's about GT5. Let's get back on topic, shall we?

Really, lets get on topic. At least we know GT5 will be native 1080P or 1920x1080 @ 60fps (for the most part). I think the content of this game will be vast, I don't think any of us have an idea just how big it will be. I'm guessing GT4 x 3 at least. In terms of races at least. They must have made an extremely large game, to have Nascar, SuperGT, WRC, etc. in it. Plus the usual racing GT is famous for, plus endurance races, plus the challenges, plus the possible return of licenses, and maybe drivers challenges we haven't seen on top of the ones we have seen. Painting of the cars, wheels, body kits available, race mods available, new wheels available, new upgrading available, new tuning available, new performance mods available, body modifications available... Damn, the list goes on... how can you not be excited for GT5?

I'm still excited for GT5 even after the delay and am sure we are going to have nice surprises.

Just don't get your hopes up that GT5 will be 1920X1080 in-game. GT5P was 1280X1080(2xaa) or 1280X720(4xaa) in game.

Would be a nice surprise though.

The storage capacity of a disc may affect the ability to store 1080p video, but has nearly zero bearing when it comes to games. Rendering a game at 1080p requires no extra disc space, but instead is entirely dependent on the console's processing power. For example, using an emulator, I can run Gran Turismo 2 in 1080p. The data on the disc obviously doesn't change, but nonetheless i'll be seeing smoother edges on polygons because of the extra resolution that can be afforded on account of the fact that my computer is way more powerful than the original PlayStation.
