Bottom line is RUF is basically a Porsche. They take a Porsche, and they change some stuff and call it their own name. They don't make their own car, they modify a Porsche.
They all look the same, whether their Porsche's or their RUFs,
But aside from the effect of the drivetrain, they drive quite differently, because of the amount of modifcations RUF make to the car, including the chassis, suspension, aerodynamic changes to the body etc.
Whether we do or don't get Porsche I still want RUF, I recognise them as a different car brand.
It would be fair to say however, that RUF would probably not be as successful as it is today without Porsche. It would also be fair to say that we would never have seen RUF in Gran Turismo were it not for Porsche. If Porsche had been in GT from the beginning, I don't think PD would have pursued RUF as early as they did. They were trying to fill a gap, hoping the similarity with Porsche would have a positive impact on the game. Which is partly true, but it doesn't change the fact that they are completely different to Porsche, and have no connection with Porsche's great success in Motorsport, most notably Le Mans.
