I just had a scary thought, imagine what we would be getting if GT5 had been released in March. :scared: Many people are disappointed with the game now, and it's 6 months more work into the game than we previously hoped for.

soooo....if the cars can now roll over, does that mean, if they put the Mercedes CLR in, it'll flip when you take it down the Mulsane straight?

Rollover and blowover are two different things. I doubt this first generation physics engine that features rollovers for the first time will feature blowovers as well.

Blowovers have been in racing sims before though, NASCAR 2003 for one featured them

Also, the BMW V12LMR has blown over before and it certainly will be in the game

That's true. But you never know. GT5 will simulate the airflow over the car, so there could be blowovers. Which might be fun to see, sometimes...(Heck, there was a glitch in GT3 or 4 that caused the Escudo to blowover. Of course, you needed a gameshark to do it.)

Excellent point

Now that I think about I think there is a high chance blowover will be in Gran Turismo 5.

If the new physics engine gives the cars complete freedom I dont see why the car wont finish the deal and do a complete backflip

Well that opens up a can of worms

Will the car hit trees and be destroyed? And forbid this happen in real life, what happens if a car goes into the stands or outside the track? Maybe PD will use invisible barriers. I know in NASCAR 2003 I've seen several crashes where the cars cleared the catch fence or barriers but invisible barriers held them in the track and out of the stands and parking lot

Also, anyone think a DNF is a possible finish now? Or will the cars always go on...sort of like how in GT4 when they ran out of gas they could still be driven at 50mph

I think so, the physics now allowed all 4 wheel to leave the ground. In GT4 if you mess with the down force and use NOS on the Toyota Minolta or the likes, they will do wheelies. With GT5 rollover physics, it probably can flip now.

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but yesterday (Thursday) gran-turismo.com, (the official site) posted new info about GT5. One of the features said that 800 of the standard cars would not have cockpit view. Now today (Friday) I checked the site and they removed that specific info from the site. Anyone know why this is? Posts fly by here so fast its hard to tell what is conformation and what is speculation.

Also someone on here said that gamespot.com and kotaku.com stated that all the standard cars would have cockpit view. I just would like some clarification on this issue.

and a blow over would prevent wheelies..'cause you do a "wheelie" in an Toyota Minolta or something in real life, you'll be seeing sky...then ground...then sky...then ground...then sky...then you'll be in a lot of pain.

Rollover=race over.

At least I hope.

Rollover and outside the track should = raceover. However I know of rare incidents of racecars that have rolled over in the past and continued the race. I think it should come down to how much damage is done to the structure of the roof. If you rollover and land on your wheels and your roof has not been compromised the race should continue as long as suspension damage is not unfixable. However if you rollover and you crush the roof down some it should be race over because thats not safe to drive anymore

In the end I think RACE OVER should happen often and shouldn't necessarily take a rollover or devestating crash. For example one of the Peugeot 908s at Le Mans broke the suspension where it attached to the tub by hitting the curbs too hard and it was race over even though the car looked fine from the outside

Heres an eample of rollover and leaving the track

Happens in Rally all the time. Rally: The only race where if you rollover, the race isn't over.

You know what, this is what I think happened, don't quote me on it, but this is a THEORY. The site had that info up because thats what was BELIEVED to be. The translation was 'interior view' that doesn't mean 'cockpit gameplay' that meant car innards, chassis, suspension components, the likes of that. I THINK that they had the translation right but it wasn't COCKPIT view, it was INTERIOR (innards) view (details); you get it?

This is what i got from the website

(translated)

"Standard Car" does not correspond to the interior view.

Definition for correspond- to be similar, analogous, or equal, (to something)

If GT5 released 6 months earlier? We'd be getting 800 standard cars and 199 premium cars :scared:

The C de La Sarthe in GT is up to date, the section where that incident happened was a small crest at the end of the mulsanne , which in recent years has been repaved and slightly flattened, so probably no.

I know, I was half joking. It was just my way of asking if there were blowovers?

Have we seen car dealerships yet? I'm hoping it's not the same purchase method as GTPSP.

Regarding all the cockpit issues, I have grown up loving all thr GT's from 1-4 they are the best games in history. That's my opinion. None of those had cockpit so I'm just looking at it as it's a beautiful GT with an extra 200 cockpits as a bonus.

I imaging most people on here are hyped about GT5 as they have also been fans of the previous games too. We loved it before so why should something we never had before ruin this one?

Man, the standard cars have me kinda giddy the more I think about them. With Daytona in GT as well as day-to-night transitions, I now have another endurance race I can react (even though I can technically only do with four cars that actually raced there). Will be awesome to see the dirt and grime from on the car, driving into the pits at night, hour 14, 2nd overall, tryoing to catch the leader. Now the multi-class racing is still messing with my head abit as there are enough cars for the top classes but I can't seem to find enough for the lower classes.

let's see...

1. Chevy Camaro SS (new one)
2. Pontiac GXP (same as the GTP)
3. Pontiac GTO
4. BMW M3
5. Ford Mustang GT
6. Mini Cooper S
7. Dodge Challenger SRT8

And others. You have to remember that the Grand-Am 24 hours of Daytona is run with the Daytona Prototypes, the GT cars and both the GS and ST classes from the Continential Tire Challenge Series.

The Gt5 trailer is now available to download on the ps store, but to add insult to injury it's called Grant Turismo 5,and u can't download it because the link saves a Mod nation picture. Grrrrr!

Yeah it happened to me. Is it a glitch or something?
