..for invisible walls.. I think it because of a demo floor version.. they give you 3 min. and you have to spend it on cars.. not on grass.. :sly: also in the academy I don't remember invisible walls

So what if there is invisible walls _outside_ the track itself, and tape like a rock. If you drive properly, you would never notice. Also I'm quite sure PD could make it better, make the tape destruct in awesome ways, remove the invisible walls, and have a big openworld-map style. But then it would either take a lot of time, or take time from something else.

I rather live with tape that's indestructible, and invisble walls i hopefully never hit, than having a release date in nov 2011, or release 2010 but without another feature like damage, or night/day.

I'm fine with the invisible wall, just wish they give us a little more room so that when you went off course or spin out the car can stop and you can drive back on track instead being bounced back onto it. For ex: the invisible wall on Top Gear Test Track, make it 2 or 3 car length (right now it's 1 car length and you hit the wall).

see 0:48. I wonder what button you have to press to get this, highbeam? :)

We'll be able to assign it to any button but default I'd say it will be one of the directional buttons. Maybe hold it to turn lights on/off and tap it to flash???

What button do you guys think will activate the head lights and horn? I think pressing the L3 button can activate the head lights and pressing R3 will sound the horn. What will activate the high beams?? Or make the head lights flash??

@HN7
You beat me to it. I totally forgot that you can change the control scheme to whatever you want. I remember for GT4 I switched the select button, R1 button and up directional button. I got use to changing views with R1 and turning on the ghost car with the select button.

My idea, way back, was to map the headlights to the same button you use for your ghost. That way, you could watch a replay, and also tell when someone has their ghost on, as well as using up a button that is useless when racing other cars.

I figure the rest, if there's music controls, or, god forbid, the need to activate windsheild wipers, they could be handled from a pop up menu just like the RA menu in Prologue.

This is a first thing that I've noticed.Don't like it too.Especially when Dirt2 don't have them.

What do you mean they don't have them? You go out far enough or try to cut a corner far enough your screen whites out and you have to rewind. Same thing. Yeah they give more room on the straight-aways to kind of slide around, but they are still there in a different form.

Very good idea 👍 didn't think about that. I think when the game's out, I will do that too.

I'm not sure if this is something you can do in GT4 by default or if it was a rare glitch on my end but when I was in a race and I pressed the same button that activates the ghost in time trial, it flickered the headlights. I was able to that everytime I raced, mostly at Circuit De La Sarthe.

Well, they've reset the price of the special edition - which I presume corresponds to the collector's edition, due to 100€ being about 100$ give or take

But an Ultimate Edition? I think the french amazon know something we don't... at nearly 200€ that is A LOT of money for a single game...

Ultimate maybe equals GT1-5 all in one box? PURE GUESSWORK HERE

EDIT: In any case I'm not going to fork over 200€ for GT5, even with the older games in it, 100€ is quite enough thank you very much
I think the french amazon is more confused than us. There won't be an ultimate edition, unless they package the DFGT with the collectors edition and maybe GT5P.

I personally have no idea, why its on three discs, they just are

This sounds plausible, but I think it will be Photomode and Replay centre, Career, Arcade

All 3 disk rumors started with the video showing kaz holding a "fat" gt box and then I think amar added something to it, dunno.

Ah, a breath of fresh air. Well said my friend. 👍 I think we all need to chill out until November, then we can cry and whine about what we don't like (Not directed at anyone). Because as of now, we really don't know much about what the final game will be like during gameplay.

Agreed, but being upset about things now is more fun.

With recent EA/Sony announcments during E3 we might get some porsches at some point in time as their relationship seems to be better than ever, however its just my wishful thinking, but who knows what really goes on in the head of the peaople in charge these days. heh

You can thank ACTIVISION for that with their exclusive call of duty deals with MICROSOFT.

Your avatar driver will get wet and have his leather interior ruined, or you start the race with the top on...

No one likes a wet helmet. :sly:

Althoug I agree in most of that, is it one thing I thought/wanted PD would fix then it would be the invisable barriers on rally circuits, it doesnt seem like a hard task since other rally games can do it.... whatever GT5 is going to be the best racing game in a long time, soo many good features but the many insane features have still not bin anounced:D

I respect and understand that completely.

However, it's a complete non factor for someone who is serious (for a video game) about becoming a better driver and achieving quicker lap times.

:)

No doubt 👍 like the night racing is beautiful with the dirt flying everywhere and as usual somebody has to cry about something else. Its a pity

I was laughing earlier today about that post but I didn't say anything about it.

What do you expect? It's a video game, there are limits to what one can do with technology. Free-roaming rally games offer a handful of cars with standard-grade graphics. GT offers us the pinnacle of console graphic technology, the standard for simulation video game car handling physics, 950+ individually designed/replicated vehicles, and numerous tracks.

If you want a true driving experience, step up and go to the track. That's what I do. GT is the just the next best thing.

(The post I'm referring to is the post JDMKING13 was referring to, the quotation did not quote what I intended it to).

Out of boredom, here's a list I made with classes to do a somewhat accurate 24 Hours of Daytona:

LM
Nissan R89C '89
Nissan R92CP '92
Jaguar XJR-9 '89

The class name is what was given to the top class in the early 90s(about 91-92sh).Since there are no Daytona Prototypes in sight, we can just use the three cars above since they are derived from the real cars or have cars that competed that are derived from them (mostly aero and chassis wise)

GTS
Dodge Viper GTS-R '00
Chevy Corvette C5-R '00
Panoz Esperante GTR-1 '99

Another original class name but from around the early 2000s. Obviously, there are not alot of real GTS or GT cars so the three cars above could work since again, the cars have relation to the real life cars that competed(in the Viper's case, essentially the same car from that year which won the big three enduros).

SGS
Chevy Camaro SS (new one)
Pontiac GTO
BMW M3
Ford Mustang GT
Mini Cooper S
Dodge Challenger SRT8

Class name originally for a third class in Grand-Am before it became the new GT class. These essentially are the cars that have competed in either the race itself or in the support race during the current Daytona Prototype era.

I mean far enought in Dirt 2 is MUCH more far than in GT5.All I want is make "brickwalls" wider - for I can't touch them after every mistake.I think it's not hard to do at all, because all scenery are rendered.Just invisible walls...And destroyable barriers are very good too it but seems to be TO GOOD to be true...

PD said something about being able to drive through fences. We just haven't see it yet
As well as moveable objects on the track - which we have seen some of

VB: What did you try to accomplish with the landscapes of the newest game?
KY: We have always tried to create landscapes in Gran Turismo that look better than real life. In Gran Turismo 5, we have objects on the race tracks that interact with the cars. We have fences, tires, and barriers. You will interact with objects on the course.

I wish i have those indestructible fences at my home. :)
(PS: I understand you and i hope it's true!)

Does anyone know how to contact Sony to fix the gt5 trailer download in the ps store?? I want it on my ps3 along with the E3 09 trailer! :)

In E3 official trailer from US PSStore at the very end where we have all that bragging about what PS3 does if you watch it frame by frame there is one thing that appears on top in grey colour but it doesn't appear in blue. In blue we have 950+ cars; online racing and when online racing shows up in blue there are 3 things above in grey drifting; rally and something else ".... mode" but out of letters it doesn't look like career mode (seen earlier in grey colour) or photo mode - any ideas ?
Yeah I know I should find something better to do on a spare time :sly:

So I am not serious about becoming a better driver? :sly: Everyone makes mistakes sometimes.. Im not all against invisable barriers, but they could have bin more then a couple meters from track, with correct off track physics cutting the track whould not be a problem since it will result in huge speed loss..

Okay just seen the latest video. The night racing looks good. However, reading the comments from people, Im just a bit po'd. The single biggest leap forward in the GT series, and for my money the ONLY thing it has been missing, is full interior modelling for the cars. Now I understand that not all cars will have this, and this annoys me. I do not give a toss about damage - I'd be quite happy if they removed this unneccessary feature to make room for full interior modelling on all cars. Damage is a bit meh, and for me doesn't really do anything, but the feel of driving each car and seeing the interior was brilliantly done on Prologue, and the upcoming GT5 should make this a number one priority. Yes, I'd be happy to ditch online racing too if it meant more interior modelling. I never bothered with it on Prologue because I just wasn't interested.
