Yeah. Are you guys for real with your opinions and whatnot? Clearly GT5 looks eighteen thousand times better.

So your not gonna say anything to the guys who said Forza looks better or more natural? but as soon as one person says GT looks better you get all defensive?

I guess we can't voice opinions here anymore...

You can, but your opinion is wrong!

You can see a big difference in brightness between the Trial Mountain and Laguna Seca video's compared with the De La Sarthe and Monza video's.

Trial Mountain:

Laguna Seca:

Compare with Monza:

De La Sarthe:

I think it's important that games look nice and not just natural. GT5 colours looks really nice and like something you can get happily lost in. Forza looks more natural yes but the result is kind of dull if you ask me.

It might have something to do with the TV settings.

It could be that, but also the game itself. In comparison, GT3 had a much more saturated palette than GT4 when played on the same television. The GT5 demos seem a bit bright and colorful. Not a bad thing, just how it has appeared thus far.

Pretty sure my sarcasm flew directly over your head.

Sorry, but I can't accept this. PD doesn't make colors more vivid for eyecandy rather than visual realism. I don't really think it's the case here.

More simply, Sony Bravia TVs used for public GT5 demos have probably default image settings, which most of the time sport oversaturated, bright colors, with strong dynamic contrast. In this way they stand out more and look good, at least to the general people who care more about "visual punch" rather than color and tone accuracy.

Talking about colors, i can't get enough of the weather trailer:

Colors seem spot on to me in this video. At 0:38, which circuit is that?

LOL are you for real guys ? This Gt5 video is off screen by BlimBlim at GC . If you played FM3 you would know that its colors are far from real...

exactly.. you'd think people would be able to notice off-screen footage when they see it by now. and yes, forza is the more saturated one, looks very unnatural.

Well, ignoring some things (off screen footage, GT5 HDR and God knows the settings of the camera and tv), the lighting and color accuracy is top notch in GT.

Good thing PD only goes after some things (layout, positioning of trees\etc) when trying to achieve accuracy in the modelling of tracks. Because take a look at that trailer for the Lexus IS-F doing a lap using the Data Logger tech and compare how bad real life tracks look sometimes.

Greener grass and trees as some eye candy doesn't hurt.

Well, I just think GT5 looks like the perfect world while Forza doesn't. GT5 has much more pleasing colours. That is what I mean by Forza being natural and dull. But colours aside, I think GT5 looks far more realistic overall.

Forza looks 'bland', if you don't see this there is something wrong with your eyes really. Not saying Forza has bad colors, but compare Forza to your real life car, there seems to be a lack of 'shine' to the cars. The hue or something is just off. The cars, the tracks, the whole game just seems 'blah' to a more vibrant GT, hell even NFS Shift's cars look better. That's my opinion of course, but playin Forza at a friends house, then coming home playing NFS Shift there is a noticeable difference. Not speaking of gameplay, just of the imagery.

That aside, Japan is separate from the rest of the world. Japan has been that way for a while. Of course it's not as it used to be with the elitist attitude some said they had. But they are a prideful people. They feel they are second to none, and in many cases that's exactly true. Kaz reflects this sometimes in his statements. He doesn't look to Forza as competition. Because they aren't. One GT game sells more than all Forza's put together. That's not competition, that's someone TRYING to do what they did. Exactly what he said.

Have to laugh at the comments about Forza. For starters Forza doesn't look more natural with its plastic looking cars. As for the tracks and some of these are so awful they actually hurt my eyes. The Nurburgring GP track is a classic example with its green fuzzy felt grass.

For me with GT you have to look twice to see if its real or a video game. With FM3 you can instantly tell its a video game.

Why don´t you go away and play FM3 if it´s the better game for you? Then you won´t waste yours and our time :)

This wars will never end so it´s a waste of time to tell the other thinking people that you are right... If they say it´s green and you say it´s black, let them think it´s green and don´t waste your time...

People will never change their minds, I actually talked to one of my best friends about jews and was shocked! He is italian, I thought I know him good but then he said that jews are evils and it´s a good thing what hitler started... because judas "killed" or "snitched" (whatever) jesus... god damn most of us must see how stupid this thinking is but he still compares 1 jew from 2010 years ago with all jews from nowadays... Impossible to offer him this, he only see his point...

After watching the official trailers again, i have to agree, the colors look outstanding. Big difference compared with some off screen footage. 👍

LOL at some comments. Djeez, calm down people. I was only judging by that video, and talking about the scenery. ;)

But i stand by my point: in that particular video, F3 has more natural looking colors.

Please re-read. Going from the supplied comparison video previously posted, it's been suggested that the palette appears more natural, as it's less saturated. The palette. That's not saying it looks better or worse.

Overall, I'll agree that FM3's cars look like little plastic toys and that the game as a whole lacks a certain something. Soul?

I have to laugh at some of the butthurt from the FM3 and GT camps when comparisons are made. Can't wait for November 2 so that a majority of this can be put to rest.

Wonder how much a used 4th-gen Prelude will cost....

Personally I don't think we have to wait until GT5 is released. In my opinion GT5 looks better than FM3 and this is considering GT5 being recorded via a camera pointing at a TV compared to direct feed from FM3.

Look at this video of mine of Forza which is obviously direct feed via upload to forzamotorsport.net.

Now in my opinion the footage of GT5 from TGS via a camera is even better. Imagine what this will look like when played on our HDTVs. I would love to see what FM3 looks like if recorded via a camera at the TV.

Nice thread! My favorite bit of news from the tgs? The return of used car dealerships!

I really hope they have those rare cars that only show up a couple of times in the used car rotation! I loved that in gt2.

Where on earth did you hear that the LFA will be in GT5? Not a single screenshot, or word from Kaz that it will be in, where do you get your info from?

GT5 has a more hyperreal surreal look. Which is what you want from a game
Gives it that freaky OMG look :)

If it looked exactly like real world video footage it would be quite dull like those old laser disc games.

You can see the LFA's tri exhaust outlets at the start of the TGS trailer

It appears that the neon filled number decal actually illuminates when hit by light. That's gonna cool in night races.

I don't mind a game being colorful, in fact, i prefer colorful games. I've bought King's Bounty and The Settlers 6 just recently. Very colorful games, has this very warm and cosy feel to it. In the above replay video, the colors look beautiful, colorful, which i like, but only to a certain degree. The grass in the La Sarthe video from Gamersyde looks almost radiant, to much of a contrast with the rest of the scenery. That, i don't like. But luckily that has somthing to do with the TV settings or something.

GT5 is looking fantastic, without a doubt. The weather/night trailer blew me away.

I just have to laugh at that! No dive in the cars when they brake. No lock up, nothing. Stiff as a board when they drive, no suspension movement, the track looks like it's made of concrete, the colors of the cars look like they've been sittin in a garage collecting dust. They look like they're doing about 50mph the whole time, there is no Sense of speed in that replay, and the cars look like they're 'floating' on the track instead of driving on it. Perhaps it's just those models, and maybe it'd look better if there were other cars? I donno, but that was below par with NFS Shift replays, and I own that game and don't like it.

As for the LFA if you know what the upside down triangle, triple exhausts look like, you'll know that the first second of the trailer for GT5 at TGS shows the LFA.
