These days I find myself confused, is this the GT5-based part of the forum, or the Forza forum incognito?

It is what it is. I know that you become a bit cross when Forza is brought up, but the comparisons that occur, while unfortunate, are inevitable. This will especially transpire in the light of Forza's ugly American style campaign; it irks people.

People take pride via comparison, and oddly enough, even when you don't mention the compared competitor, the listed features is, in itself, a stealth comparison that inescapably make transparent the competitor to observant individuals ;).

Comparison : why not
"----- SUCKS!" : person needs to get a grip; find some impulse control

it's been a couple days since someone mentioned Forza. So, good job complaining about yourself.

That's really all that can be expressed from me.

Comparison's are fine, that's what games are there for - to be compared with and see which one grabs any one individual's attention more. What gets to me is that for so many people having bitched for months on end that Forza isn't a direct competitor (because it's on a different console, as if that makes any ounce of sense) some of those same people do not fret when it comes time to compare GT to Forza and claim how much better it is on features alone.

Selective reading strikes again!

That sums up my issues with it too, which is why I'm guilty of mentioning "the other game" occasionally, but only in comparison to GT. Like Analog said, I'm glad it exists, because like it or not, it does affect GT's development. Even if Kaz himself doesn't touch the game... he still listens to the community about what we're looking forward to, or most want included, and our desires are inspired by outside influences just as much as simply sticking to PD's game...

Coin a new word...HYPE-o-crits. :)

If you don't think PD looks at the competition, even if they say they don't, then you're not very smart or naive (or both).

Trust me, they fire up anything they can get there hands on that could be a direct, or indirect, competitor...to see anything they can improve on or add to make their own product better.

I bet they have a nice 360 at their studio, along with an iRacing subscription, etc., etc.

people sometimes ignore a basic fact : polyphony digital are developers, they do what they do to gain money, yes thats true !

another basic fact people sometimes ignore : the success of gran turismo franchise is not indifnitely guaranteed whatever polyphony do to the franchise. yes thats true ! if polyphony fails the expectations of its fans, they will simply go away and not give their money, with NO MERCY at all...(look for example what happened to the football game PES, or the tomb raider franchise, or crash bandicoot...etc)

Opinions... can be wrong. *cues dramatic music* Nah, just puling your leg now :P

On a serious note, yes, PD knows the importance of its fans. Just look at Kaz and his dev team, working hard to meet their personal (PD) goals and deliver an excellent product, but they look like they are going to colapse at any minute!

And you can't really compare it to other games in different genres, PES took a dive because the game was bad (seems like they are fixing everything now). Tomb Raider went through sequels and a reboot, but the genre it's in just isn't the same anymore. Crash Bandicoot was separated from Naughty Dog, like Spyro was separated from Insomniac and that pretty much kills the franchises.

Now, PD on the other hand will always have something to aim for: real life. *cues dramatic music*

@Terronium-12 and TouringDevotee

More like: don't start none, there will be none.

On both sides you can point people who will never hesitate to take cheapshots against each other. So it's kind of pointless to get worked up over it, the same thing happens on Forza Central or iRacing forums, etc

@People_Know_Me

True, see >>LINK and >>LINK, if interviewers took their time and asked about PC simulators, KY probably would have a similar, respectful answer.

I still find it funny when people defend Forza its really sad if you feel that forza looks and feels better than GT5. i was bummed when the game was delayed, but the fact of weather, and everything else now has made me actually want to buy a new tv, and another ps3, just so me and my bud's can play full screen 2 player. GT5 is just breath taking, just like the first time i played killzone 2.

Track layout seems spot on... except for the Porsche section.

EDIT:
My bad, it is a car speed difference and not a length issue from any of the games.

GT5 has been modeled on perfect sunny conditions with great lighting. Then weather takes care of making it look like it does most of the time lol.

Forza goes for an average look.

Those are the different approaches.

It does look a bit green but i'm guessing its with all the rain its been getting lately :sly:

Have we had a direct feed of any GT5 gameplay demo's at TGS or Gamescom? I would like to see one instead of off screen records.

He said "in my opinion". Can't argue with other eyes.

Nope. And in a way, I sorta see what he says. The GT side almost appears like it has too much contrast, at least to me. An optimist looking on the right side of the video could call the colours "natural", a pessimist might see it as "washed out". With the GT side, substitute "dynamic/dramatic" and "too much contrast" for both of those.

Both look good in their own different ways, and I could pick a preference based solely on random feelings on any given day.

They look brighter, but F3 has more natural colors imo.
I kinda see what you mean. For example, the trees in F3 have a slightly yellowish tint, which might come off as looking more natural. The GT5 trees do look a bit too "green" IMO.

Just looking at that video, the colors in Forza do look better. GT looks too saturated, but there was an option in GT4 to turn the saturation down, so I'm not worried.

The colors in GT look better as well.

The FM3 palette does look a bit more natural, whereas the colors in the GT5 demo seem a bit saturated--but the lighting and quality of the car and track look better.

Great minds something something.

LOL are you for real guys ? This Gt5 video is off screen by BlimBlim at GC . If you played FM3 you would know that its colors are far from real...

Yeah. Are you guys for real with your opinions and whatnot? Clearly GT5 looks eighteen thousand times better.

Not saying FM3 is more real, just that the color saturation in the GT5 image makes FM3's palette appear more natural.
