GT5 Video From TGS!

I downloaded that one two months ago, it's the same one that's been floating around for quite a while.

The only thing that hints it's the "full" video is that it begins with the PD logo, and ends with the VGT name and the music's fading out. I assumed that I had the full video to begin with because of that, and apparently I was right.

Still a sweet vid, but it's hard to pick out exactly what's going on. Some of the "lighting effects" that people talk about actually aren't part of the video, but rather the result of the camera trying to adjust itself to the brightness of what it's recording. Until we see a direct-feed video, we won't really have a taste of what it's going to look like.

Actually there is light bloom effects added to all of the cars in the video, Only the 787B in GT4 has that effect. Weird ain't it.

Just a quick reply, If that INCAR cockpit view is available in the game then just think how cool it would be if we could drift, race, rally, 1/4 mile drag racing using that view.

Left hand driving would be a really good challenge for the australian GT racers, Especially in american muscle car's.

Is there anymore GT video's ?

Wow, so theyr still playing the moon over the castile song eh?

.... Looks like GT series has thier theme song! :dopey:

Actually, they've always had their theme song.. hehe. :) "Moon Over the Castle" has been on every GT game since GT1. In Japan, at any rate. I'm still not quite sure why they don't use it everywhere else. So I fully expect every GT game from now to Kingdom Come to use "Moon Over the Castle" for the Japanese releases.

so GT5 is going to be on PS3 right? And have you guys heard the same rumors that it is going to be $799 !! Ugh... I hope not, who will buy them if they are that much?

No the PS3 will not cost $799, it only costs $4-500 to manufacture and Sony will sell the hardware at a loss just like they did with the PS and PS2 and like MS did with the XB and are doing with the XB360. The PS3 wil most likely retail at $399 in the US and 299 over here.

How many ppl said they 'were not impressed'?
answer=loads!!!! :scared:

but we can only go on graphics here so surely u are all missing the point! :indiff:
if gt5 is slightly beeter looking than gt4 than great 👍

what they need to concentrate on is gameplay, have u ever asked the question,
is gt4 really that much fun to play? :guilty:

we need better AI- no doubt about that, we wanted this for gt4 but it didnt happen so we want it for gt5 now

more excitment - i was very pleased to see the animated pit crew cheering on the cars as gt1-4 seems to lack that human element. we need to feel that we are indeed involved in a real race so stuff like that is always good! :)

more cars on track- i counted 17 from this vid- but that is probably too much for the shorter races i believe. :ill:

better sound- dont beleive the sounds from the vid- however Do expect much better sound for gt5 as they can dedicate more memory for the sound quality. :sly:

damage- the jury's out on this one! :D

so yes i am impressed thus far as its very early days 👍 i espically like the "new in car view" it would be nice to see the steering wheel and some dash- i always thought that rally games with cockpit views are so much more involving and realistic than gt's "bumper cam"

one thing though-why is he showing those horrible JGTC cars :yuck: they have no character and most of them are the same with new paint. :grumpy:

In the first VGT vid theres a scene with 20 cars on track, graphics wise anyone that says they wern't impressed really need to remember which part of that vid showcases GT5's graphics and it's only the first bit and that was more than impressive that was superb.

Damage, we haven't seen damage yet, since Kaz has said it WILL be in I think it's just a case of all we've really seen is two cars in photomode like locations and then GT4's graphics re-vamped, the GT4 engine was not built to include damage and neither were the car models so you won't see any damamged GT4 models.

I've just watched the vid. And it just looks like a PS3 tech demo. Looks really good, though. I especially like the noises from the JGTC cars. I'm sure they're gonna sound like that in GT5.

I'm noticing all kinds of little things in this video. It doesn't seem a lot of the track data has been updated (or modified, rather), but there's a part where the JGTC cars are coming down a straightaway kind of at the camera.. if you look at the tops of the car roofs you can see sunlight reflecting in a scarily realistic way. That was NOT in GT4.

Same goes for the part they show of the JGTC cars at nurb (i think it's the first shot) again, coming at the camera. There's shade from the trees but if you look off the track at the grass and how everything is lit up, it looks a lot more realistic. It looks like the textures have been re-done or something but the grass looks 100x more realistic now. Nothing truly breathtaking but the more I watch it, the more stands out. Little effects that mean a lot. Not to mention the new cars everyone's pointing out - but they'll update the car and track data so it looks spiffy on the new hardware, we all know that :)

It was probably said in this thread already but I've read in several places (including some interview with the head of PD) that the intro with the lancer/RX7 or whatnot is how much the cars will be detailed in GT5 IN-GAME. That is incredible. Everything is going to be perfect from a graphics standpoint.

LETS HOPE THEY GET EVERYTHING ELSE RIGHT LIKE AI AND FRIGGIN ONLINE PLAY TOO >:(

Okay, everyone. Had a chance to finally see the video myself, ready to offer my commentary.

Some of the things I really noticed was the sun sparkling off of the cars. I know I made a post or a thread on a subject matter like this. There is more detail than even GT4 provided. The differences between GT4 and this trailer are pretty minimal in terms of car detail. For one thing, many small touches are better defined on cars. Like, look at the classical mid-1990s Mazda RX-7. Notice the holes and lines and such? Also notice the radio antenna modelled into the trailer on it. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX(?) looks pretty nice as well. When it comes to car sounds, I still can't get over the one person who said, "...PD stop wh*ring sounds from GT1." If that's true, then many better hope that GT5 is a joy to listen to your engine rev sweetly down the race track. The cars are basically GT4 models mated for this development kit. And don't give me that "all this time and this is what you came up with, PD?" By the way, isn't it lovely to see way more than 6 cars to a circuit race track?

The video is pretty slow either with streaming, how it was recorded, the speed of the video at the Tokyo Game Show, or whatever the case. I also kind of didn't like how the movie ended almost abruptly. But then, this is all we know about GT5. As always, I'm not bothered by a lot of what people had to say. I didn't really think GT4 TRULY disappointed me, and whatever surprises PD has for us GT fans, you already know we're going to stay tuned.

More commentary to come in future posts.

Ah. is it okay if I click the "report" button to report you as being awesome?

I shoulda read before making a stupid parrot post. Well said.

Hi everyone! :)

Browsing the planet, I just stumbled over these pics from the "vision Gran Turismo" video. I noticed that two of them are available in 1920x1080. So, I wondered if there's a HDTV version of the trailer somewhere out there. Any hints?

Those aren't fan-made screencaps, those are official pictures released by Sony/PD. There is no HD version of any of the trailers.

Ah, okay. I had that in mind as well, but I thought asking wouldn't hurt, as long as I don't open a new thread for it. :D

FOR GODS SAKE THERES STILL TWO YEARS TO GO.
these videos are nothing but bread to the pigeons. jus sumthin to feed the media.
u can think bak to countless titles developments where they have mix n matched very erly code to the previous games code. MGS2 for example.
this is absolutely nothing to go by. PD will do their job.
And forza motorsport cnt touch gt4 in terms of photo realism.
i read sumwhere sumone sed that. but ye
CALM DOWN peeps.
seriously.

I dont know if someone has mentioned this already:

But that video is not PS3 graphics, Its merely a custom made GT4 video with extra cars (and people moving behind the pit wall) and put into HD mode (or so the creators said).

We wont see any 'official' in-game screens until about november/xmas and they'll be alot better as PD say that this one is going to be a 'photorealistic game'. Hope they're right!:scared:

It's not a direct feed, but is 1280x720 HD enough ;)?

"Vision GT" to put it simply is the next generation Gran Turismo 2000.

Embarrassing to return a thread from the dead...

Vision GT isn't a game, it's as the name suggests a vision of the future of GT, GT2000 was meant to be a game between GT2 and GT3 but it got scrapped and GT3 was brought forward.

I'm beginning to think that it was rather a wives tale than actual fact. I've never actually seen any proof that GT2000 was as an actual release. Though there was some GT2000 box art, but purely as a Playstation 2 game case mock up. Much like GT4 Mobile, as it has had a UMD and box art picture floating around as an example coupled with the PSP’s initial announcement.

I believe GT2000 was a working title just like Vision GT, a basic tech demo showcase. There was a demo from the GT2000 timeline, which has been confirmed by amar212 because he has it :). What I might add, has anything actually surfaced so far about GT4 Mobile aside from box art and a rebranded GT4–PS2 trailer? Is it simply another working title for Gran Turismo “for Boys”?

Kazunori has stated that PD tested Gran Turismo 2 on the PSP, but due to the LCD screen being able to clearly show how poor quality it was, they had to make a compromise in detail between what the original PS and PS2 can do. I believe this to be the same case with GT2000, GT2 on PS2 and now Vision GT, GT4 on PS3.

So yes, besides my crappy comparison, GT2000 & Vision GT were and are respectively the future of GT. Roll on e3 2006 :D:tup:

Actually I think you may well be right, lot's of magazines published GT2000 as being a game, but I can't find anything direct form PD or Sony where they give a release date for GT2000 or talk about it in the context that it's a stand alone game.

I will have to say that these development shots we're all seeing of Vision GT are probably better than what we're going to see on the PS3. But... not by much. I doubt we'll be counting polygons. We may not be able to do much more than drool for a while. ;)

Better, they're generally worse, they're GT4 graphics with better lighting effects in place. Other than that we've seen two cars that Kaz has said represent the quality of the cars in GT5, that was the silve Evo 9 and blue RX-7 at the beginning of one of the VGT video's.
