I was on about the fact he called it Austin Martin, the company is called Aston Martin, Austin was a seperate car company that has nothing to do with AM.

No, not really
Well the Porsche family did try and do that, right up to the point the local government realised it was illegal and blocked the sale, allowing VAG to turn the tables on Porsche and consolidate their ownership.

Heh, your right. The Fiat group is so big they own Nissan and Scania!!

The Fiat group are indeed big, but they don't own either Scania (that's VAG -70.94% stake) or Nissan (that Renault - well a controlling stake of 44.3%).

Don't you think it's ironic publishing Fprza exclusively on 360 but at the same time saying we're not into exclusive deals?

No.

Forza being exclusive to the 360 is fairly easily explained by T10 being owned by MS (and the same for GT/PD/Sony). Car and manufacturer licensing to games being exclusive is a totally different thing.

So Forza is coming to PS3 and iPhone? Great news indeed!

I mean exklusiv Car license.... You didnt understand?

Turn10 wont use their exklusiv Ferrari license and allow the others (EA,Sony,..) to use it. This is a complet different Thing.

They think exclusive Manufacture Deals are against the Gamer.

I think this is Great. I mean a Race Game without Ferrari is as Bad as a Racing Game without Porsche.

And i think Sony, EA have to Pay to use Ferrari on console. Turn10 could use the license for pressure, but they dont do it.
Hate Turn10 or Not. I think this is a Great Thing and exclusiv Manufacture Deals are always Bad for the Customer and Gamer.

Thumps up for Turn10 and MS.

:)

Sry for my english :)

It's still an awkward thing to say for a developer that works on a single IP for a single system.

Even more so as MS had an exclusive deal with Rockstar that GTA4 additional content was exclusive to the 360 for quite some time. And I never understood why the Ferrari Shift 1 DLC, which was a masterpiece btw, was exclusive to the 360 while other systems received nothing. A deliberate choice by EA? Coincident?

Yes, it's a shame Porsche is exclusive to EA, and frankly I still don't comprehend why Porsche handles the way it grants licenses, through EA only. That's absolutely stupid.

But I don't buy it if a company steps forward and says "we don't believe in competitive advantages by owning licenses exclusively" while the owner clearly does otherwise and has a strong reputation for doing otherwise.

Nope, I don't buy the "we're the good guys" pitch all of a sudden.

So... Porsches coming to FM4.

Will they appear on GT5? If it happens I hope we may see 2-3 models as DLC on GT5, then they'll keep the rest for GT6.

We can only. Hope.

Forget about NFS or EA. With the upcoming titles such as pCARS and tons of simulators like Assetto Corsa, GTR3 and rFactor 2, NFS is going to die. No more Shifts for sure.
And with GT6 and Forza 5...no one is going to pay attention to that company anymore.
EA is desperate to catch attention owning licenses like Porsche and stuff.
By the way the Pagani Huayra is free now.

No reason they won't come. If Kaz stumps up the money for it.

Ok, so the deal between EA and Porsche is still valid, but Turn10 made a deal with EA... I wish PD do the same...

Thank you guys for the explanation :)

They should go back and make awesome games like most wanted, carbon or even underground 3. Those games were the best nfs games ever.

but Turn10 made a deal with EA... I wish PD do the same...

PD (Sony) have probably tried many times, but the terms might not allow or they can't/won't fork out the money MS is willing to, MS are known for paying big for exclusivity of content.
Plus MS now are making two seperate games that will include Porsche so it might now be worth it for them to cough up what EA want for the license.

There's guys on here who will pay a full price games worth for old tracks ported over.

Theres guys on here who will pay for DLC that they don't even like. Just to show support for any content.

Pretty sure PD could sell Porsches to the fans. They sold them a 14 mile straight after all.

Well EA is also very protective over the license, infact whenever Turn 10 wanted to show pre release pictures of FM3 featuring a Porsche they had to run each through EA for permission which took time and effort. There is probably many more issues/red-tape behind the scenes we're not aware of that Sony/PD might not be willing to work around along with financial or any other requirements. We don't know the true story but if it was easy as you make it seem, many titles would aquire the license for their games for years now.

The EA/Turn10 deal pretty much guarantees that Porsche won't be in any Gran Turismo title in the foreseeable future. I'm sure the ink on the page says that other than EA, only Turn10 can feature Porsche. At least, that's what I would do if I were forking over the large sums of money necessary to secure a license.

I agree... I am one who would happily pay that 30 Porsche DLC for 1€ / car, same as the other DLC. And I don't think I'm the only one. With that money alone, I think they could pay the license, don't you think so...?

,, at the moment anyway. It seems, to me anyway, that EA have seen that fans of the racing genre want Porsche in their games and that they can exploit their stranglehold over the marque and charge to sub-licence to other developers. Turn 10 probably offered them s***loads of money (and an intimate act) to secure that deal, EA in a moment of clarity said yes. It opens a potential gateway into the GT series, although it may be a while off yet, as the Forza fraternity will want to rub this in GT's face for a while.

I find it funny that EA own porsche rights still, and I won't buy any porsche content if it means EA gettin paid.
More Ruf's please. And some Gemballas.

I think after all these years, we can come to a conclusion kaz and sony do not want to make deals with EA that involves sub licensing of some sort.

GT is a multi million franchise. They probably thinking we dont need no porsche

It is simple 101 monopoly class really:
US Giant 1 own Ferrari Licence
US Giant 2 own Porsches Licence
Both American giants find common ground to S@#w Japanese Giant 3

I wouldn't be surprised if next EA NFS games get some Ferraris ....

Far, far too many assumptions and guesswork going on in the last few posts. You guys, just like me, know NOTHING about this deal so why not stop making your own minds up about it, eh?

Just common sense... it's always a question of GREED at the end, this mafia business of licensing...

Apart from the little fact that you have zero evidence that this means that PD couldn't negotiate for a Porsche licence.

Oh and MS doesn't own the Ferrari licence past titles that appear on the 360, which is why GT5 has Ferrari's (as does Ferrari Challenge, etc), so not quite a monopoly.

So exactly how does the licensing of a companies own designs tie in with organised crime?

VAG (as the controlling arm of Porsche) own the brand and design right to all the Porsche models, they are quite within their right to licence it to who ever they like, up to and including no one at all.

You may not like it, but its a long was from being criminal.
