You need to read up on why it is far better to run at 60fps than 30fps.

So you'd rather have pretty graphics and run at 30fps than dropping resolution to 720p and 60fps?

Unbelievable!

Umm. Where in his post did he say he wanted prettier graphics over 60fps? All he saying is doing 30fps instead of 60fps is less stressful, and I agree with him. I think you need to relax alittle bud.

Based on what.

Thankyou, someone who actually knows why 60fps is so important!

You people saying it is ok at 30fps do realise it would look, play and feel totally different don't you?
The whole reason you love GT now would be gone!

Its the resolution, graphics and effects slowing it down you moron!

I love GT for the cars, tracks and course maker pretty much, don't care if its either 60fps or 30fps. Not like it'll kill it or anything...

Ohhh throwing insults now huh? Cute.

Yes it would!

See, thats why you guys don't have a clue what you are talking about!

1080P setting it having too high res. Unfortunately PS3 can't handle with those graphics. Most games are 720P. Even then they are pushing like crazy. With more polish and optimization, it will be fine on both mode. People can decide which is best for them.

I really like F1 2012 a lot and that is 30fps game. Most racing games than locked at 30fps and it is ok. GT6 even around 50-60fps with those graphics. I will take that any day :)

Based on what.

By observing this thread. I could be wrong though, don't hold me to that fact.

Also:

30fps would definitely be worse.

I'm being cross-examined

Apart from a demo which is undeveloped in quite a few ways, we don't have evidence to suggest that PD would allow a sequel to be graphically worse, BUT if it were to happen I wouldn't consider it a disaster. Pretty damn annoying but not a disaster.

They chopped down on aspects of the graphics in GT2 compared to the original game to stabilize performance.

720p @ 60fps > 1080p @ 30fps

I'm aware of the difference between 30fps and 60fps and I still can't work out why you consider 30fps to be so disastrous.

To have that 720p @ 60fps > 1080p @ 30fps opinion is fair enough, but it is an opinion, and I don't understand why you're so adamant that it's better.

I see, excuse my ignorance. Having said that, I still can't see it happening in such a graphics-centric gaming era, for a flagship game.

You clearly have no understanding of what you are talking about as the drop to 720p would be much less of a difference than a drop to 30fps!

Higher framerates equal better feel, better response, better, smoother image quality.

And it is you who is throwing around "720p > 30fps" as if it is a fact. It's called an opinion.

But I appreciate you telling me what I know. 👍

This. 👍 Opinions are opinions. :sly:
Some people forget this.

There's a tradeoff in all console games though, where most of the time better graphics win and absolute playability never does (125fps with active 120hz screen 500hz input, minimum). In the end graphics sell (video) a lot more than fluidity does (games).

That's the reason why I find funny that console gamers think it's a matter of principles, when in reality they have never played properly in first place and would be blown away when realizing how bad all the parts of their experience have been. For example, the g27 is considerably more responsive and overall better when plugged into a pc than into a ps3, especially if you buy a separate cable for the pedals.

30fps certainly isn't bad. But as tried to say earlier, let's just agree to disagree. I have other things to do. :)

I don't think anybody's denying the difference between 30fps and 60fps, but I'd still take 1080p at 30fps over it.

To be fair this is a moot point because the apocalypse will arrive before Sony allow GT6 to be released in 720p

And you think the'd release it in 30fps when their main rival has solid 60fps?

They'd be laughed out of the industry! :-D

Anyway, i'm done here, clearly none of you understand why 60fps is so crucial in a game, especially a racing game.
Why do you think they target 60fps in the first place when it is so hard to achieve?
Why are XboxOne and PS4 making a big deal of games being able to run at 60fps?

True. Sony/PD/Kaz will never allow the graphics to go backwards on paper. At this point they are locked into 1080/60 regardless of whether the game can achieve that on a consistent basis.

They'd be laughed out of the industry,

but if they released at 720p they'd be slaughtered by mainstream gaming magazines and laughed out of the bedroom of nearly every rich kid casual gamer with a big TV, and that's a lot of kids.

No they wouldn't, Forza runs at 720p

Not only are Sony/PD considered perfectionists, but gaming magazines/casual gamers would pick up on a backstep of that nature far more than they would a frame-rate drop.

I consider frame-rate to be more important to the technical types/ simulation enthusiasts, and resolution to be more important to the casuals/gaming magazines aka. the mainstream buyer.
