GT6 Sales Discussion

Several factors spring to mind.
- A lot of people have jumped off the PS3 and have used their GT6 money for a PS4.
- I'd imagine some GT5ers have gotten lost in a place called Los Santos.
- Some people have given into peer pressure and they've bought an XBone with Forza 5 because they must have it.

It doesn't really matter though, the game is still selling and the online rooms aren't full of dweebs. Part of me is actually happy about the lack of trading options in GT6, this also means less online rooms dedicated to trading clogging up the servers. No more telling noobs that cars over 1mill and DLC aren't tradable.

PD have never been the same as any other developer so expecting anything that wont happen is a far fetched expectation. I never expect anything from any game or any developer. That way I am not dissapointed if I dont get what I was expecting.
That's your full right to do so; i on the other hand do expect certain things to be in order from developers, especially if these things have been flawed for such a long time already compared to other games on the market.

- Some people have given into peer pressure and they've bought an XBone with Forza 5 because they must have it.

Of course. Peer pressure would be the only reason anyone would consider buying "that other game".

If only we could save people from their meddling friends!

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or......

I'm only speaking from expierience as most of my chums are Xbox types and are always harrasing me to join the X zone.

I can only imagine that this scenario is played out many times across the world and lots of people have given in.

Or like, people could have looked at the Xbox and Forza and thought "that looks like fun, I think I'll buy one".

Nah, that's just unlikely. No one in their right mind would buy an Xbox or Forza. They must have been pressured into it. Oh, the weakness of the common man. If only they could hold strong to their ideals, like Nurburgthing! And lo, the lamb did lie down with the lion, and the lion said "wanna play some Calla Doody on my Xbox One?" But the lamb was stout of heart and verily he turned away from the lion's temptations, and wandered in the desert for forty days and forty nights until in a delirious daze he stumbled upon an oasis in which there was naught but a lone Daytona USA machine.

And yay, the LORD had given it to him and yay, it was great. And he played unto the LORD, saying "There will never be another like you Sega. You're :censored:ing great."

I think I may have gotten a little off topic. That, and spending time in the God thread may have addled my brain.

Take it easy Timothy :D

Typical fans in denial, quick, let us see how they conveniently use the facts in their favour and make it seem that this is a good thing for them.

Doesn't seem like such a far fetched expectation if any other developer can do it nowadays...

What developer does this? The only other game similar to GT is Forza and they cut the car list dramatically 200 total cars I would much rather have a few hundred more with lesser graphics than be restricted to just a few updated cars. Even on the 3rd release of FM on the 360 the car list was only 1/2 of what we have in GT6

I do not think you will find any developer that could give you and additional 1000 cars in just 3 years nor will you find any game that adds 200-300 new cars from one version to the next other than GT.

I had no expectations of full list of premium cars, it is not feasible, They had already said it wasn't going to happen
and it would not be a good idea to trim all the cars that fall into the standard category from the list. There are lots of really good cars there that would be greatly missed by many of us.

IMO anyone who expected the car list to be fully premium in GT6 must have been under a rock

HBR, you took the post right out of my fingers. :D

It's funny how many people would rather be on a board downing anything PD and GT, instead of enjoying themselves... but then, maybe they are.

Big edit - boy am I still sleepy. :P

I meant to post that a lot of people like to bring up the explosive sales of both Prologue and GT5, but they forget the environment of the times. Kaz kept dribbling out little tidbits of Gran Turismo on PS3, even before the console's release. We even got GTHD, a free download demo, a real demo, on Christmas Eve 2006, with the Eiger track and a handful of cars which you could do time and drift trials in. People were so hungry for something more serious, as pointed out above, Prologue went platinum just from pre-orders in 2008. In fall of 2009, Jordan was assured by SONY people that GT5 was coming out that Christmas, and gave us a news post about it. Within weeks, he had to take it all back, and the grinches began to get really cranky, to the point in 2010 it became downright unpleasant on GT Planet. It had in spring 2009 too, and our own amar212 gave us some epic if cryptic kitchen guide and weather report posts to assure us that something indeed was coming.

Do you guys remember how a three day delay in Nov 2010 caused a small riot? :D

Given that it had been more than five years since a real Gran Turismo release, the world was understandably ravenous for GT5 by then. Evidently, the hunger never really went away, as a million more units were sold from November 2012 to August 2013. New units in a market likely flooded with used games, mind you.

I don't think GT6 is going to suffer much. And even if it does, it's going to be a multi-platinum suffer. ;)

Ditch the standards then, I could do with 200 premium cars, not even premium, just complete and functional cars (damage, cockpit, etc). Other games have far less than that and still manage to make GT's car list irrelevant, (Race Pro, Shift 2), the car models in these games are not as good as the premium ones but they're much more immersive.

I've said before, who cares for a Premium C9 if the damn thing is going to be so badly represented. I'd take the crappy looking but godly sounding DBR9 in Race Pro than any of the "future-proof" premium cars.

I wasn't expecting all 1000+ cars to be premium in GT6, nobody was.

LOL I played Shift2, or tried to, the game was really bad. It did not matter if it had 1 car or 1 million they drove horribly even the worst car in GT is better than the best in that game. Also the graphics in Shift2 were not on par with Forza or GT or at least the 360 versions wasn't.

Some of my friends had Race Pro, I haven't heard anything good about it and they all quit playing within a week or two

As for being fine with the 200 cars you are free to drive just the 200 cars that you like but that does not mean it would be good for them to remove 1000 cars from the game. Many of us enjoy many of those cars.

You 2 are a funny bunch, there are plenty of older racing games that have ALL their cars with interiors...
Screw the numbers as long as all the cars you have in your game look and sound descent, and you can actually sit behind the wheel. To me a car's interior says as much about it's character as everything else.

We are 2014 already; games have moved on.

Shift 2 sucks, end of story. How can anyone take that game serious due to its icy physics? Ugh.
It doesn't; i'm playing it at the moment and enjoying it a lot. Punters just need to put in some effort to configure their wheels and setups, and you end up with a game that has a lot more excitement to offer than GT5+6 combined...

And you obviously didn't get it, best response that apologists can come up with is "but that game [insert insult]", You say that Shift 2 didn't have graphics on-par with GT or FM, I agree but then, what are the standard cars then?
You say your friends got bored of Race Pro really fast but the people already bored of GT6, they don't count?

Whatever, my point was, you can have thousands of cars but it doesn't matter one bit if they're cars nobody wants to drive or very little effort is put into them (I'm not just talking about graphics)

Whenever you are going to point out a flaw of a game and call it **** because of that, take a look at the game you're trying to defend first.

I used a DS3 using a set up from someone who figured out how to gain more response to the steering, since I don't have a wheel. It was going kinda well, until the AI you get glued into and somehow drives better than you, ruins the fun for me. I rather play Crusin' (I game I hate so much btw) for Wii, than play Shift 2. Yes the gameplay is more exciting than GT, I agree, but I hate the icy physics and the AI. I don't blame the people who likes it, but it's frustrating for me.

Typical fans in denial, quick, let us see how they conveniently use the facts in their favour and make it seem that this is a good thing for them.

If GT6 does end up selling 5 or 6 million, I expect that people will point out that it's still a very respectable sales total.

And they'll be right, in a way it is. Most devs would kill to have their games sell that much.

Then again, most devs don't have budgets in the high eight figures, and most devs don't have multiple previous titles selling 10 million+.

It's perspective. For most actors, getting a secure part on a daytime soap is probably pretty good. If you're Brad Pitt, it's faintly pathetic that you're reduced to daytime TV.

It's looking more and more like GT jumped the shark somewhere between GT3 and GT4.

...people want real damage...they dont care if the damage is 100% accurately modeled in regards to real world physics...they want to see dents, and wings fly off, and shattered glass and the audio that goes with it

I disagree, this damage thing is a really childish request. Racing is a non contact sport. If people are racing deliberately to crash, they are playing the wrong game and should go pick up a copy of Need for Speed or something. I personally see no value in creating all that extra detail in damage modelling when it is the exact opposite of what this game is about.

Racing.

standard cars must go

I disagree again. Most of my favourite cars in the game are standard. And they look fine to me. I enjoy driving cars like the Amuse R1 or the Shigeno AE86. They are fun to drive. Just because a car looks pretty doesn't make it nice to drive.

There is a lot that the series can improve on, but if you want to the developers to cater to children (or X-box fans as you call them) and not actual fans of the series, then that will bring about its demise a lot faster than "poor marketing"

So no interest at all for seeing the interiors of your favourite cars, even tough the days of only mapping the exteriors of cars in racing games date back to last gen? I would be curious to see them in mine when i'm driving especially if the car is special to me...

+ those black letterbox interiors standards have are just ridiculous, and don't help one bit for the feeling of immersion.

I see it more like an insult to my favourite cars. It's like being kid, sitting inside a box and pretending I'm driving a tank. Can't do that anymore I'm afraid, I'm way past the point of using my imagination to fill in the blanks.

Your post is obviously biased, just like most of your posts, every single one i read seems to be negative, if hating on the game is all you do then you should probably go post in another forum section.

Let us know when NFS has 1000 cars with interiors, GT5 modeled more interiors than Shift, not even going to mention GT6.

I don't think so as the PS4 is the preferred console this time with lots of Xbox 360 owners switching to Playstation.

Oh but it hasn't modeled more interiors than FM3, let alone FM4 and forget about FM4+DLC. Oh and all more less in between GT4 and GT5.

Really? you think it's actually not obvious?

1. "you end up with a game that has a lot more excitement to offer than GT5+6 combined..."
Obviously saying Shift is better than GT5 and 6 combined, biased confirmed.

Want more?

2. "We are 2014 already; games have moved on"
You're trying to say GT is not living up with the competition, meaning that most of the games in your opinion are better than GT.
