How good is the lighting in this game, put in heaps of tunnels and make sure you can't see anything when you enter them, then put a corner in immediately after. Just outstanding. Just what everyone remembered fondly about Deep Forest and Trial Mountain.

I think theyā€™ve calibrated it for hdr as is fine for me but when Iā€™ve seen videos in sdr itā€™s a bit broken.

Bit of a meh week imo...

Race A, always feel like the cars need some work! With rentals why not have a openwheel event

Deep forest reverse feels like a lazy choice imo! Willow Springs, Blue moon Bay, Goodwood, St Croix C'mon

Bathurst night/day definitly the star of the week

Because you lunged from deep. If you're going to try to take a position down the inside you need to be level going into the braking zone otherwise you'll get a penalty, regardless of if it looks like the car in front has left the door open.
However, the penalty is NOT justified...he kept his line clean..the door was open and the VW wanted to close it. I could also throw up when I see such punishments. Just yesterday I got some nonsensical penalties like this again... in a corner my front man turns sideways without touching him, which makes him very slow, but not GHOST... I slam into him even though I brake and get a 4 for it Seconds missed... Or same route... same curve... in the middle of the curve, the person in front is a little too fast and my GT is far superior to other vehicles in the curve... so I go inside, am almost next to the vehicle me because this car is carried further and further out. So the driver brakes hard again and pulls further inwards, I have no chance to prevent a rear-end collision, touch him really lightly, even stop overtaking and still have a 3-second penalty...
Then races in Trial Mountain, the driver behind me presses hard against my right rear wheel, I can no longer catch the car, crashing first with the front into the wall... and then with the rear on the other side of the track into the wall. .Car front and rear + engine damaged. And I lose a whole 8 damn places (6 straight away because of the spin and then another 2 because of a broken car).
**** OFF PD!!!

I had wished for reasonable and harsher penalties in GTS, but this is a joke in a bag.

If he was the passing car, he dove from WAY back, and had zero business attempting a pass there. If you canā€™t pass without contact, then donā€™t event attempt the pass. The passing car would have slid right off the corner if he hadnā€™t used the VW as a bumper mid corner.

I don't know what you see there, but the McLaren would not have caused any contact if the VW had driven fairly, but it isn't, the McLaren was even past the VW very well to see the VW on the front wheel or even crashed into the McLaren behind it. For me, the overtaking process was absolutely fine and legitimate because it was not the McLaren that steered into the VW but the VW into the McLaren and the McLaren was clean on its narrower line.

Ergo crappy exploitation of the VW completely stupid and defective game mechanics in terms of penalties.

But this mangy/******/ugly bug seems to be PD's new favorite and there may be more penalties for others who touch this bug.

The McLaren had ZERO overlap before the VW turned his wheels to turn in, there fore the VW had full rights to the corner. Itā€™s not even up for discussion it was such a blatant dive, if you think that was a clean pass, please donā€™t ever get near me on a track. If you canā€™t make a pass without contact, and itā€™s on the passing car to avoid contact, then donā€™t make the pass, period.

Looks like to me the F1 was going to fast into the corner. It does look like the gap maybe have opened up and if is open and your making a dive from afar back you need to make you get the car stopped. Looks like the F1 was hoping to carry a bit more speed to force the VW wide and run them out of road.
As for the VW it does look like they maybe turned into the F1 but you canā€™t see when they start turning into the corner.
Due to the bad camera angle it hard to say whoā€™s really at fault, which then makes me think why is the angle so bad? Trying to cover something up?

I'm definitely paying the price for having less free time to dedicate to practice!

I closed the week's races with a small late night session on Race B, on a circuit I'm less than familiar with. At least I smashed out the Circuit Experience beforehand!

I dropped to DR/B. On one hand, it's fine because my 2.00 quali time in the rented GT-R was enough for top 5 on the grid, the Mustang I raced in was definitely punching for podiums. On the other hand, a few sketchy drivers were responsible for taking the final result of of my hands. It feels disappointing to know the 5 years I spent earning my DR/A might have been for nought... I just can't see myself dedicating to this game like the last one enough to cement my ranking again. (at least the online portion, in its current state).

PS.. I finally 'get' the Group 4s! I used to avoid them like the plague, but now I understand it's remembering how easy they are to get stopped and how early and liberally you can apply the throttle!

If the VW had seen it, he should have left the door open, yes.
But the Divebomb came from so far back, and so late, he couldn't have expected it.
E.g. if he used roof cam without the rear mirror, there's no way he could have seen it. The overtake attempt should not have happened.

Seems to me like the Beetle was going pretty slow there and certainly didn't make a normal corner entry.

Perhaps they had gone off-track or something?

Personally, I don't think that should be a penalty.

I have had the same attack here:

At 1:50:37
That was a deliberate attack, as he did a similar thing in the race before that. He couldn't get past, so he got angry and tried this.
I was only able to see this the last second, despite using the rear mirror. But the same as above, it happened so late there's no reason to expect an attack...

I think Bathrust will either be fun or a **** show. Hopefully it's not another Beetle fest. Evo might be good there? McLaren? So hard to tell with the BoP and what gets Nerfed on the cars.

Please tell me how this penalty in tonight's daily race is my fault...

That was a pretty sporty lunge.

PD seriously confuse me. Past 2 weeks people have been saying they love the longer format of daily race A, and their response to this feedback is to give us a 5 minute long race on a short track??

There's over a 10 minute wait til the next slot ffs, it's nonsensical.

Even weirder after having done quali is that the sun starts to set on lap 6, so you drive through dusk. It's like they set the settings for a longer race and then forgot to change the lap count.

The VW did drive fairly. They seemed to be turning into the corner normally. The F1 came in far too late and far too fast. I doubt it would have been on their radar before the VW turned.

Canā€™t say Iā€™m as annoyed as everyone else at the lack of strategy. Just getting 10 consistent laps in is hard enough, plus the change in grip from night to day.

10 laps is fine, the race just spreads out quite a bit over that time typically, so a pit strat can keep the pack together a little better for the second half of the race sometimes.
