Did some more Daily Bs at lunch. Couldn't muster a win but I dropped my quali time down from 1:33.26 to 1:33.0X. Maybe that will help but I doubt it; top quali guys are in the 1:32s. I just have to not-screw-up and hope they do.
I caved and did one race. Look at the times here.

Everyone was doing the handbrake thing and it looks absolutely ridiculous. Caused a lot of issues as well as there wasn’t really a racing line. More a racing parking spot. Definitely quicker though as I was way quicker than most people ahead of me through most the track so I think people had quite inflated qualifying times relative to their ability as a lot of silly battling meant I gained 5 positions to finish P5. I won’t be doing the handbrake nonsense so probably a one and done here.

Race C - genuinely don’t see the point in it. Done two races today (both with a controller as couldn’t be bothered to rig up my wheel and seat) and I just found the races was a challenge to see who could get the line with the least mistakes. Bathurst is very much like Monte Carlo, with a history but a track that doesn’t really produce much racing and is all about keeping it clean with no mistakes.

1st race P8 starting and I made a few mistakes on the first lap hitting the wall and losing a lot of time as the car just gets stuck on the wall head on. And then I attempted an overtake going down the hill along the straight and the other car blocked so I went to switch to other side and clipped the grass and that was me spun out facing backwards in last place. As others made mistakes I was back up to P10 and the car that blocked me also made errors so I was on the back of them again, and while following in the hills I clipped a wall again, and back down to last. Race started with 15 and finished with 9 cars and me in last.
2nd race similar to race 1 in that I made a mistake in clipping a wall, ended up last and nearly 30 seconds behind as couldn’t get reverse gear to get me of the wall. After that mistake I didn’t see another car on track all race as I couldnt close the gap enough. Everyone in my race had a quali time between 2.07-2.09 so was difficult.

Race B the reverse layout is tricky. Trying the get the car stopped and turned for that 1st hairpin is awful. That left hander before the hairpin unsettles the car and my car is squirming under braking

Yeah race B just feels weird to drive. Probably from sinking too many laps into the normal layout. It's a hard miss for me. So many other options than Deep forest reverse, especially with rental car availability!

Would have loved something like redbull junior or F1500TA race

Guys, I just sold my game. I did two daily races yesterday and still no bop adjustment. Fantasy cars win, like this is need for speed.

Today I tried the 1h Spa race and it was... laughable. Clouds move at 500kmh into the track area, opponents dive bombed me three times.

I finished the Cafe campaign and it was a pure grind. Maybe three races and 5 cars were interesting to me.

There are many things bad in this game but I can now sum it up in one sentence:

This game just isnt fun.

Switching back to assetto corsa.

Take care ppl

Godspeed. Hopefully the games in a better state this time next year.

Did a handful of Bs and best finish was a P2 but it was barely deserved. Crashes and penalties gifted me three places on the last turn. Most of the other races are P4/5/6. Deep Forrest is one of my favorite tracks going counter-clockwise; it just doesn't flow the same going clockwise.

Jumped into a C expecting a ****show and boy was I right. I didn't even have a chance to qualify so I started P15... right behind Kie25. I didn't drive great, but neither did most. Infield of lap one looked like a break on a billiards game. Beetles bouncing off each other and the walls. One came across the track and hit me into a wall, to which I got a penalty for... so that didn't help. Ended up finishing P8 where I think only 9 or 10 cars finished. Ah well, 7 places gained is a new record for me haha. I don't think Daily C is going to be my jam this week.

I haven't been enthusiastic enough the last few weeks to race in Sport mode (Besides the other week's Gr. 2 at Fuji, that was fun besides 90% of the grids running the GTR. I'm a GTR GT500 fanboy myself, but geez) with this Beetle meta. I hate to say it, but I kind of miss the RCZ meta. With the RCZ meta there were at least a few alternative cars that could keep up like the Ford GT for example. With the Beetle meta in GR3 and the 4WD meta in GR4, it's like GT Sport closed beta and launch period all over again.

I think I'll stick to mostly single player until Polyphony can give us a proper BOP.

Even iRacing and ACC have meta cars at any given track, granted they get the rest closer, but there are still clear metas in both. It’s just a sim racing thing, not so much a PD thing. Sim racers have the time to practice the lap times under identical conditions, for much longer periods of time than real race drivers. So anything other than a one make, will have a meta car by day 2 or 3, if not sooner. It’s just a part of sim racing, I don’t think anyone will ever be able to fix it, without making all cars just drive the same, but look and sound different.

How much of a grind is it to get to A/A+ DR in sport mode? I love this game (for the most part), but now that I've done quite literally all the solo stuff the only thing that's keeping me interested is sport mode.

I just got bumped up to a "B" DR rating (still at an "S" SR) and have won 7 of the 11 races I've been in so far (6 pole positions, 3 fastest laps, and 6 clean races).

My guess is the grind from B to A is significantly tougher than it was from E to B?

Today, I did the A race on the new Maggiore track for the first time. It's short, but it will throw the car around.

Hanging out at the back getting my 50 in and laughing at all of their silliness. 10 more races to go, then I am done with Sport Mode again.

Just ran around 16 laps of quali in the Viper for Daily C without any drama, running consistent in the 2:04's (bit slow, I know). Then in the race found I had no grip anywhere, even in clean air. An absolute struggle to be even 3 seconds near my pace. Really frustrating.

It sounds like you’re well on your way, nicely done so far man. It really just all depends on how much you race, and how often you finish high and win. It can be done in a few days if you’re fast enough, or it can take a few months of grinding and getting better in other cases. Either way, it’s a fun adventure, and well worth seeing how far you can take it, good luck on the journey. 👍

From my personal experience, I was a complete online racing noob when I started GT Sport when it first came out. I fairly quickly got myself to B ranking (within about 2 months).
I stayed at B, never really planning to get anywhere near A but as my skills progressed after playing roughly 1,000 races (around 2 years) suddenly I was there! The last year or so of GTS I spent clinging onto and occasionally progressing into A rating.

It gets very serious. Good luck!

Frustrated today that when I got on GT7 today my DR dropped from A to B. I’ve been in mostly A+/A daily races and usually starting in P10. Been finishing better then P10. Why?????

In Sport it took me 34 days to get to B the first time and then a further 53 days to get to A. I was A rated for a year before I cracked A+.

There should be a completion bonus, clean racing bonus, Q lap bonus, 1-2-3-4-5-X number of races pr day bonus. GT Sport should make me more credits than doing 17 minutes or mindless racing in a Hawk and at least the same as 1 hour of spa racing.

Putting on the broken record on.. they did not play test this game, and if they did they made a piss poor job, and they are so much behind modern development. Credits should be used to activate people in the game and sport is a good example of where they could do exactly that. Lobbies should be dynamic, join Race B and the race starts when the lobby is full (or it reaches a timer) etc..

So much potential wasted in traditional way of doing things it almost hurts..
Agreed. The spread between 1st and last should be far less in payouts than the important stuff, contact free laps, stay on track laps, clean passes (either way), draft bonus. All the stuff so called arcade games score you on.

I also like the mod system from Forza 7 where you can give yourself extra goals, up to 3 per race, for a percentage bonus. Yet most of those should just be active all of the time. And please, like Forza, let us know when the CRB becomes invalid. It's just guess work like with everything else in GT.

I'm not for the race starting as soon as the lobby is full, kinda like the set schedule, and it would be counter productive to matchmaking. However I would like a hybrid lobby system instead of the one and done format we have now. Instead of sign up and wait, make it like joining a lobby. However for sport mode the game assigns you a random lobby, or rather after loading the track, puts other people 'waiting' with you.

Then you can choose to practice on track with the other drivers or qualify on your own. When the time is due for matchmaking, you can keep on qualifying or practicing, and all you see is some people disappearing (to other lobbies) and some new people appearing. The game shuffles the players around to create the rooms to race in. When it's time to race, you get yanked out of practice or qualify mode for the race start.

After the race is done you can go back to qualifying or drive around with others sticking around for the next race. If you don't want to race anymore, leave before the matchmaking timer is up again. If you want to race back to back, just stick around. And since the track is loaded only the first time, absolutely no reason anymore to keep ps4 and ps5 separate. PD 'just' needs to fix that annoying hitch when people enter / leave the room.

I'm also for more choices:
A Quick sprint, starts every 10 minutes, ~6 minute race, changes Daily
B Sprint, start every 15 minutes, ~10 minute race, changes Monday and Friday
C Medium race, start every 20 minutes, ~14 minute race, changes Monday
D Long race, start every 30 minutes, ~22 minute race, changes Friday

Available on Saturday and Sunday:
E Endurance race, start every 60 minutes, ~50 minute race with dynamic weather. No 2 races the same.
F Endurance race, start every 3 hours, 2h40 race with 9x time acceleration and dynamic weather (full day night cycle)

I also like @Voodoovaj's idea, a shuffle mode sport race. Random car/track combo every 15 minutes. You won't know what you get until you join.

Why does PD have so little imagination. There's so much potential in this game it hurts! Yet somehow PD managed to get me bored of Mount Panorama on day 2 already. I don't know whether I'm even looking forward to N24 coming to GT7 sport mode anymore... What am I doing typing here, Bathurst is on :/

I got bored with the campaign mode today so I decided to do the A race because I find that short Maggiora track interesting. I got bumped from behind at the bottom of the hill before the sharp right-hander which caused me to hit the car in front, and was given a 3 second penalty. On this track, 3 seconds (which ends up being a lot more in reality) was just way too much so I quit.

Not sure if I'll even try again until after the next update. And what's with no music as the grid is loading? It feels like PD put zero effort into sport, not to mention the lobby issues.

Got down to a 2:02.5 on Bathurst in the WRX and I think I'm capable of a 2:01 now but we'll see. I've tried to get more time out of the Lancer but looks like I've hit my limit. I'll definitely use it in the morning races when the lobbies aren't as deep though. It feels a lot like the WRX just lacking some straight line speed.

I had very good times and really solid driving behavior with the Jaguar.. I'm really happy with it..
I knocked a huge chunk of time with the Jaguar and am down to a 2:04.3XX, so thanks for the car suggestion. I can get another half second or so according the optimal time. Still need to get used to the limits of the car so I can make that happen as this was the first time I've used the Jaguar. It feels good so far and can't wait to see what I can get out of it.

Jesus that is fast. Can you give the Z4 a run for me? I really like the car but I am ham fisted on the gas and she is quite grippy but I think you can get into the 2's with it.

Surprised how many people in this thread cannot gel with Bathurst. You need to see it as two tracks, one from turn 2 (Griffins) to forrest's elbow and the other from the elbow to turn 2. There's no passing across the top unless driver ahead makes a significant error, keep is clean and smooth. Passing relies on an excellent exit out of Forrest's elbow and turn 1. Do NOT get trapped on the outside into Turn 2, it rarely works and get you get burnt.
Here you go. The Z4 is a really good match for this circuit. The lap has a couple of big errors in it at Griffins where I tap the wall and the Cutting where I get the line horribly wrong, but it proves you can turn 2:02's comfortably. A very low 2/high 1 is probably possible. I think it's only about half a second slower than the Beetle.

If you do a few races a day and consistently come top 5 you’ll get A pretty quick.
