So just finished another Daily B and started 9th and finished 4th and after the race (on the race credits screen) i got this:

View attachment 1153670

So does this mean I will be bumped up to A-rating? Checked after race and still B..
What are we supposed to be looking at? Am I blind?

EDIT

Nevermind, I'm late because I forgot to update my page. Hehe.

No idea, never noticed that before. I've won races starting as low as 6th, just now started 15th and finished 6th and didn't have the "Position elevated" text and both were clean races too 🤔

Ye
Frankly, Race C just accentuates the problems with the terrible penalty system.

Exhibit A.

Yeah, that sucks. Especially when I had that driver in my races Monday and they are constantly causing contact with others in the same way. It's easy to see why the game gave the penalty even though the contact wasn't your fault as you were there well early, but it's so inconsistent and random combined with the stupid lower DR armor that it really does become a lottery in turn 1 there.

My 2nd win in this game. Race C at Autopolis with formula. Clocked 23.4 in quali which is apparently very fast time for my group because I'm constantly in top 3.

Absolute nightmares in my first 3 races, bottle at that right hand down the hill curve after hairpin that you can take with slight ease of gas or full throttle in quali but in race that's a bad idea. Learned that the hard way.

Second race I missed braking point at turn 1 and 3rd race multiple guys were punting me left and right after turn 1 without penalty and when I did it got one so I quit in rage.

Victory came after Saudi guy who was way way faster than me (10s lead) bottled it at the exact same place near the end at that downhill curve, twice, because he was still close to me after first time.

Whew, all in all, I love driving this formula because it feels so good after all the sluggishness of normal cars.

You're Ray Finkle?! HA, we were just in a race together. I typed in the chat, "Laces out." I made a mess of that race. Hit the sausage curbs a little to hard in the second chicane and binned it.

Stuck with it and didn't finish last.

That I am lol, I missed that one pre race. 😂

I’ve had two good races so far, even if that one ended with a bogus 2s collision penalty on the 4th lap, when there was no contact haha. I just checked the stream, 2nd chicane of lap 4, guy ahead messes up, I avoided him and get hit with a penalty anyways lol. Ah well, it was still a good race. Good racing with you, hopefully you’ll be in this next one too. 🍻

I give PD the benefit of the doubt in their Dailies combo choices. For example, maybe they are using the straight sprint with SF at Autopolis for comparing pace in regions, or other technical performance impacts. I imagine they have a lot to learn with the data they can mine from Dailies and they may arrange them for specific purposes from time to time like BoP measurements, etc.
Usual Guide :)

Here is a summary of my 3 races at Monza tonight...

Fire This Is Fine GIF by MOODMAN

All my troubles were self inflicted so I have no one to blame but myself. I did set a new qualifying time of 1:48.8XX which I'm happy with that got me to start in P7 every race. But, my starting position doesn't mean anything if I can't keep it on track. I ran off track on all 3 races and those gravel traps are a pain to get out of. I also made some dumb decisions that led to tons of lost time on the track. Just a terrible night overall. My pace is there if I can keep it on the pavement. I"ll be back at it tomorrow and chalk tonight as an off night of racing from me.

We’re you or him down a lap? Or GTS used to ghost more in D-C lobbies as well, than in A-B lobbies.

@Sven Jurgens Is the Penalty System still DR dependent on how it hands out pens and ghosting?
Yes, DR is still used to assign blame more towards the higher DR player. Totally different experience after I reset my SR and DR.
SR is used to ghost more, yet even when I reset myself to SR E, the next lowest SR in the room was SR B lol. So no extra ghosting observed. SR E to SR C used to get more ghosting (preventing dive bombs and side swipes)

The reset on track is still a bit of a mystery. The game happily let me plod around on the field at Bathurst while other people got reset almost instantly. Is there a button for it? Does it depend on assists in use? It says this in Beyond the apex "there is a 'Driver Assistance' feature that will automatically replace your car on the track." but that says a lot of things that simply aren't true
I mean, copying things is perfectly fine to an extent. No-one would complain if we got the same as Sports lobby system, because it was pretty functional and worked fine. No-one would complain if we got the same DR tracking system as sport, again, because it was useful, and it worked fine.

You can have these elements copied whilst still improving on other parts of the experience. Not everything needs to be refreshed or changed constantly.
Already forgotten all the problems with GT Sport?

It was very dysfunctional, many of the good drivers left to better games or retreated into gated lobbies.

SR determination was completely broken, and still is. It only takes 4 x race C to go from SR.E to SR.S. GTS substracted 10 SR for every penalty you got. That's less now in GT7 and penalty times are halved as well, yet the penalties are just as wrong.

DR resets mixed dirty drivers in with legitimate slower drivers. Driving dirty just meant easier rooms, if you got caught that is. People boasting about thousands of victories with 30% to 50% win ratio and a SR graph that looked like a seismograph. Utterly broken.

DR never worked very well for matchmaking anyway. My DR gains and losses mostly depended on the car/track combo and time of day for racing, even SR influenced it. (Easier to gain DR below SR S) It all depends on who else shows up. Not a good reflection of your race pace at all.

BoP was a mess in GTS as well. GR.4 was just for FF cars, Supra was pretty much the car to use for GR.3. Let's not even talk about GR.1 🤣

Matchmaking still has the exact same bugs putting highest DR lower SR players in with lowest DR higher SR players.

Ghosting still has the exact same bugs. 1 frame solid when reset, penalty timer reaches 0, or getting back on the track. I got crippled again at Bathurst from that bug

SR, DR, penalties, forward prediction (lag compensation), matchmaking all need to be overhauled. Start from scratch.

First week i can remember that there is no races worth doing. When i seen what Race C was it kinda interested me.....I'm not too bad in high downforce cars but after one race....... **** that. Never been good at Monza or any Race A's so.....i dunno maybe i could try and improve on them

I got a penalty for being hit from behind I guess, not sure who I supposedly hit in this one? 🤔

View attachment 1153758

It looks to me like you touched the one in front of you very lightly, but your car didn't slow down as you got hit from behind. Unfortunately, whether your touch was before or after the hit from behind doesn't matter for the penalty system. Since the touch was very light, you "only" got 2 seconds. I've also received similar penalties, but it was more obvious that I was being pushed onto the man in front of me from behind... Unfortunately, the penalty system is really not good at this moment.

Not at all hahaha, there was a reason I specifically mentioned DR tracking (being able to see our stats through KudosPrime, or even the little bits we got offered in game) and lobbies, which sure, weren't perfect, but were decently functional.

Plenty of problems with the things you mentioned. Never disputed that.

Mentioned this before but the game should have a dedicated penalty zone off the racing line where cars must driver through to serve the penalty. Drive through penalty lane. Anyone that doesn’t stay within the penalty drive through lane gets another penalty. So basically they have an entry gate they need to drive through and and exit gate.

Moto GP have a penalty loop which would work well it think

Tried some more cars Z4, Hyundai Genesis, GT-R 500 and they're all decent cars to drive but just not fast enough for Monza, maybe somewhere else they might have a chance but here I out drive the WRX out of a corner and I am clear in front, then by the braking zone they are clear in front of me again.

Also tried the DBR9, that may work if I could drive the rest of the track in it like sector 1. I suspect it's still a touch down on the usual cars but it's not out gunned the same way other cars are so if you are good enough it's possible to use it and do well. :)

there are couple other cars i want to try as well, including viper
Don't waste you time, it is slow, I only gained places because of madness like this. :ill:

I spent all race just cruising around waiting until cars went off or were smashed off, simple mistakes were not enough for me to get by in the Viper. :boggled:

I used the F-type afterwards, much better, I could probably do ok in that if I stuck to it. :)

Actually did a whole bunch of race Bs last night. Was logged in to do a few and ended up in the same lobby as Z28, so I fired up his stream. Pretty entertaining watching/listening to the stream while also racing 'against' him and some of his online buddies. They were messing around trying all sorts of cars, a couple of which were the Ferrari and Porsche. Yea, those didn't work out so well haha, but it was all in good fun. I was using the Mustang exclusively. Planned on doing like 3-4 races and probably did like 10.

Unfortunately for me, I was usually starting in the latter half of the line up. Most of the races were pretty good. My best race I started P9 and finished P4 (I think, I can't actually remember). Unfortunately I got absolutely creamed in T1 by someone. Got hit so hard I went flying and was basically immediately reset. I don't know why PD allows this... if the speed delta between two cars is 120mph why they don't just ghost one out. I've b*tched about this before, but yea... a drip in the ocean in what's wrong with the Sport mode.

For me, the track limits penalties seem very inconsistent and were killing my fun. I swear sometimes I drive over the curb (curb in between the two sets of tires) of a chicane and am just waiting for the .500" penalty and nothing... other times I literally hit the curb with my inside tires and get a penalty. It's such a gut punch when you're in a pack of cars that are racing and racing clean, only to get a penalty and not be near them anymore.

I saved a couple of the replays and plan on getting some good pics from them when I have time.

If PD had released GT7's single.playwr part along with GTS multiplayer part, some new tracks and cars and a return to a previous penalty system I would have been much more happy at release.
I think the lobby system in GTS was far more capable than what we have now, and also a lot more stable.
It feels to me as if they went back to a beta of GTS and based the build on that
While I don't think it's this extreme I think it is fair to assume that when GT7 began production, the Sport elements were at a much earlier stage of development than they were by the later stages of GTS' life. So I would definitely agree that GT7 has been built around and on top of a much earlier version of Sport.

The question is how much interest do they have in bringing Sport mode, not only to the same level as the previous title, but developing it beyond that with new features and experiences.
If they had copied everything straight over we would now be complaining about nothing being improved. Instead, now we're wishing online to get back onto GT Sport level. Brilliant move by PD...

GT Sport had the lobbies working from the start, I don't think it's an earlier stage of sport. An earlier stage of GT Sport would mean the SR up / down arrows would be back, scrubbing penalties in the race (no penalty zones) and track limit penalties based on some voodoo magic time gained algorithm instead of 0.5 1.0 or 2.0 sec. T1 cuts at Monza could be as much as 7 seconds at the start of GT Sport.

Gave Monza a whirl last night, seems most cars are driveable on TC0. Got the Z4 to a 49.9, the beetle to a 49.7, WRX to a 49.7 and the big surprise was the Mustang, which felt absolute rubbish, came in at 49.3. Problem is, those cars are in reverse order re. the stability of the rear end, I don't think i can race the stang as i will bin it on exit I am sure.

Anything else I should be trying?

Don't bother using TC1, it's mind bendingly bad at Monza.
