Have you guys tried the stang? It must be VERY fast on the straights because i missed apexes, slid it on exit etc and still got near a 48. Better drivers than me can make it work no?

Strategy an issue here I think, maybe a safe bet, with a stable rear end, will yield good finishing positions as others slide off the road. I am usually racing in the second split not the 1st.

Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to test the Ford anymore, but believe me the Jag is also very fast, I suspect even after the F1 one of the fastest. ( at TopSpeed i mean )And for my taste it is very quiet on the road. When you get a good corner exit, the Beetle and WRX have a hard time staying on even with a slipstream. And that creates a lot of possibilities.

Just a word to the wise. The Honda is quicker for qualifying in Race C than the Toyota. I immediately knocked 3 tenths off my best with it. It seems to have better grip through the corners.

I've been using the Beetle in race B (as it's the meta car I own) but gave a few others a go last night in qualifying to see what I'm missing, results below:

WRX - within a couple of laps beat my previous qualifying time. It's faster than the Beetle (and the others I've tried) but WAY less stable, I can see why people ahead keep crashing now!

Jag - horrendous understeer. I don't know how you guys are doing it, the thing doesn't turn!

GTR (modern one) - opposite, total oversteer. Could probably be quite fast if you control it but I doubt I'd last a race of pushing without going backwards at some point.

GTR (Pennzoil) - felt fast & enjoyable to drive, slow lap times though.

Lancer - thought this was going to be the one, drives a bit like the Beetle, sounds cool but I think it's lacking on the straights.

Would be nice if they could tweak the BoP's so we could use a variation of cars but at the moment I can't see past the WRX & Beetle!

This just goes to show how different driving styles suits one car better than others.
For me.
Beetle - think it’s horrible to drive and I can’t extract the time from the car. Last 5/6 Gr3 races I’ve tried the Beetle and I can’t get anywhere near my quickest lap.
WRX - similar to the Beetle but bit better to drive. Again i can’t close to my fastest Q time.
Jaguar - good car for me. Done some quick Q times with it and is my fastest this week, top speed good and I don’t have an issue with the corners with understeer.
GTR R35 - don’t like the handling.

My go to car has been the AMG. Good handling get the odd oversteer and good acceleration & top speed.
Last week Z4 was my go to
And this week Jaguar and Mustang.

The Jag goes to understeer if you are to hard/ to long on the Brakes.

as others have said, jag has been my fastest this week. I tried the WRX but couldn’t quite hit the same time. I refuse (am unable) to race in Gr3s on TCS0 as it stands, so there are a few turns where my braking is wretched.

The two Supras are slower but much smoother to the point of being better in races, where I’m starting at the back and trying to avoid wrecks.

Was going to try and push into the 1:49s (went down from A to B this week) but I’m thinking the update will probably change everything again. Maybe it didn’t with the past update but I remember the earlier ones would always reset the quali times.

Had Z28's stream on in the background while cooking dinner last night. He was using a different car every race at Monza. He started from pole every race. The WRX went by the Ferrari like it was sitting still and that's no exaggeration. Lol. Think he ended up 7th.
The Mustang and Vette were at least somewhat competitive and Porsche wasn't much better than the Ferrari.

I got down to 48.1 this morning. The 2nd chicane and lesmo 2 are where I was losing a ton of time and if I hadn't botched ascari I'd probably had a high 47. Pretty comfortable running running low to mid 48's now. Try to get in a few races tonight.

Not at all hahaha, there was a reason I specifically mentioned DR tracking (being able to see our stats through KudosPrime, or even the little bits we got offered in game) and lobbies, which sure, weren't perfect, but were decently functional.

Plenty of problems with the things you mentioned. Never disputed that.
Yeah it was nice to be able to track DR, which helped explain the mysteries of DR gains and losses.

I never found DR a good measure for matchmaking though. Too easily manipulated by cherry picking races and time to race. And also too easy to sand bag for easier victories.

Hence my long standing wishes to have SR be based on nr of incidents over time you're involved in and matchmaking to use race pace instead of DR. Race pace being based on your average lap times in a track combo, using your quali time or previous experience on that track to calculate a starting pace.

Mentioned this before but the game should have a dedicated penalty zone off the racing line where cars must driver through to serve the penalty. Drive through penalty lane. Anyone that doesn’t stay within the penalty drive through lane gets another penalty. So basically they have an entry gate they need to drive through and and exit gate.

Moto GP have a penalty loop which would work well it think
video is blocked on the site youtu.be/FccbfmkPkGA
But we have a penalty loop on every track, the pit lane. We don't need separate loops since cars don't get in each other's way in the pit in the game. If your penalty time exceeds let's say 10 seconds, you should get a mandatory pit drive through. You can choose to pit when entering and then you simply sit out the time after tires and fuel are done. If you select no change / no fuel, the game should calculate the speed to auto drive your car through the pit to come out at the other end with the penalty time added to your lap times. Based on your pace.

No need to add anything to the tracks, just a little bit of math to set the right auto-drive speed and a notification on screen to pit or get another 10 sec added. Time left over gets added to your finish time.

Or just have it as a stop and hold for 5 seconds before starting the pit stop stuff, similar to how F1 serves the time penalty.

Gave Monza a whirl last night, seems most cars are driveable on TC0. Got the Z4 to a 49.9, the beetle to a 49.7, WRX to a 49.7 and the big surprise was the Mustang, which felt absolute rubbish, came in at 49.3. Problem is, those cars are in reverse order re. the stability of the rear end, I don't think i can race the stang as i will bin it on exit I am sure.

Anything else I should be trying?

Don't bother using TC1, it's mind bendingly bad at Monza.
Have a go of the DBR9 GT1. I'm loving it for Monza this week, very quick on the straights and excellent on exit. I'm on a 49.6 at the moment and am not the fastest driver.

It's just that race A and B have the pit stop disabled and you always just drive through. (I wish that would change as well since the game still lets you start on wets or intermediates if the car was equipped with them prior lol)

Before or at the end, doesn't matter. It's just that weird long wait we have now before you get to the pit box. Some tracks your car seems to go for a bathroom break before continuing to the pit box

The whole pit stuff needs to be redesigned anyway. Why can't you deselect or change your tire choice if you accidentally hit the button on entry. Same for fuel, and why can't you select how much fuel you want instead of hit the button at the right time. Fix cars coming out on top of each other, first come first serve, next have at least half a car length separation when coming out the pit.

Actually why not make it more realistic. Drive to your pit box, have a speed limit in the pit. It has always felt half finished. Then a mandatory penalty stop will simply be a mandatory stop. Adjust the penalty time based on how much you would 'lose' during a normal stop 'n go without waiting.

It would be nice to actually see other cars in the pit!

I managed to finish P4 and P2 in Race C so far. When you fully understand the car and if you can call it the flow that is Autopolis, It shows that Super Formula is amazing in the right hands. Turn 1 is still a mess that most people can't negotiate at all.

@Pigems Here is some of that ghosting we were talking about on Monday.

I thought I would hit that BMW, so I slowed down way more than normal.
Maybe my below normal speed is what triggered the ghosting.

Interesting, what was your SR at the time? 🤔 I haven’t seen any of that type of ghosting yet, only when cars go off track or spin out I think. My SR has stayed at S so far I believe, but the last 2 races last night had a “Naughty SR” room from GTS, not the 90-99 room feel to them. There were no A+‘a in those races.

I know a few of you last week mentioned they could hear the game pause for like a second and then hear crashing around you. Ive been having that issue tonight on Monza but I’m playing on PS4. I’ve not had this issue on PS5 though at Monza.

Also Manufacture and Nations Cup just been added

I had an even stranger glitch last night, when my PS5 went into screensaver/demo mode like it normally does, there race replays they normally show, had no cars in them. Just cameras following invisible races with no cars on tracks lol. Once I reset the PS it went back to normal, but I’d never seen that happen before. This is one on Tokyo, it also did one on Bathurst and Laguna Seca too though before I reset it. 😂

Maybe that is the invisible secret car from the bottom left of Kaz's tweet 😂

Try a B race in the Mustang. You'll have fun.
It seems to be the most powerful Gr.3 car.

I almost wanted to run a sport race before resetting it, to see if I would be invisible on track. 😂

I plan to get a couple more in tonight, I was using the WRX last night, I’ll give the Mustang a go tonight. You gonna be racing tonight?

It might be the chicane glitch. In GT Sport cars kept ghosting on the final chicane at Sarthe as well. Indeed 'below normal speed' triggering the ghosting, yet the speed isn't set correctly. The car behind you still hits you though while you were ghosted, you weren't ghosted on his side.

@Pigems @sturk0167 what system are you playing on? I might give the Stang a try as well at Monza.

I’m on a PS5. I did see a T1 ghost in the last race I was in. But it was a pretty dirty room, so probably not 90-99 room.

@sturk0167 Punt this guy on site of you see him, the Blue Subaru ahead oh him as well. Both dirty drivers. This guy was still turning full right at the left apex of turn 1, purposely driving me off course after his mega late dive.

Then there was this guy, like what are these people thinking with these moves? Are they that brain dead? 🤷‍♂️

Confused Always Sunny GIF by It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

My first race was ruined by the pole-sitter slowing way down and causing mayhem in the mid pack. Blocking people, brake checking people, and just being a menace. Naturally, I get beside to pass and they shove me off the track. Awesome. Just awesome. I do manage to recover with a sweet 360 spin at least. I got a 2 second penalty because of this idiot at some point. After I get away from all that nonsense, I had to take evasive maneuvers at the entry to Ascari due to a driver getting it all wrong. So off track I go. I just want to finish and do. Of course the dirty driver quit the room before anyone could report them.

Race 2 wasn't any better. But, I needed go off track to avoid sending a car to the shadow realm. An unfortunate event for me, but I had to do it. I did finish P10 after starting P4. Oh well, that stuff happens.

I'll give it one more shot tomorrow, but my hopes aren't high for what I've been through this week.
