I watched Kie do race C this morning and I was baffled by the amount of fuel saving messing about you have to do. Literally changing from map 1 - 6 and everything in between at every turn. What exactly is this meant to be ‘simulating’ a little coasting and short shifting to give a quicker pit stop is one thing, but this is ludicrous.

I watched that and I’ve just tried his method and it’s just far too complicated. I spent more time looking and fiddling around with fuel than I did on the track. Made errors a few times. Going again now but at full speed and pitting.

Good luck. I hope it proves to be a viable strategy. It seemed that everyone was no stopping in his races after they’d done a few so I suspect the no stop is meta by a margin in the top few splits at least.

Gran Turismo 7 - The real fuel saving simulator 😀.

I really don't like these types of races. Last week on Watkins Glen was perfect, no fuel mamagement needed and some tire strategy, that was so much better...
I’m not even going to bother trying it. I suspect they tried to set fuel multiplier to an extent that would make no stopping unviable but it’s a game not real life and gamers will find a way to get around it. A mandatory stop would have helped.

If this is what he did, then he’s just driving dumb. Jump in the 911, short shift in FM1 and you can no stop comfortably. No need to mess around with fuel maps.

All the top guys were doing it. Bunch of the last to first world tour yobbos in the rooms in the BRZ. If your strat is quicker I’m sure that will emerge but I suspect what they’re doing is the quickest option.

Jumped on my B account to try some Daily Cs, with no quali. The winner was in the 911 and no stopped. I watched the replay I couldn't tell what his fuel map was but he was shifting at like 7.5-8k. If you can run FM1 and just short shift, the lobbies will be full of Porsches soon enough. Not to mention, the majority of the top quali times are the Porsche, so this week's META may whittling away to the 911. Every track/strat is going to have a META; if it's the Porsche that'd cool as it's something completely different.

Anyway, I did three races: one with the BRZ, one with the FT1, and one with the Jag. The first two were fuel savings and, I just don't like it. It's not as fun for me. Last one was in the Jag and was just push-push-push with a stop of course. It was more fun but unfortunately with a like 35s pit stop delta, I don't feel a one-stopped will even be viable. At least at Suzuka it was kinda-viable as one race I started P7 and finished P3 in the Jag. Not to mention if the FM is up, the radar can't be. Dumb.

Regardless, I set a quali time in the Vette on the A account, a 1:55.9. There is tons more time to be had.

I'm hoping, people much more tallanted than me will figure out the Porsche with short shifting works on a no-stop. Otherwise, I'll probably sit out race C this week... at least on the A account. I miss last week's C at the Glen already.

I’m done with Daily C for today.
Fuel saving is just boring, and I’m way too slow. My average lap time was like 2.07. Tried a 1 stop and both races I spun by dipping a wheel on the grass or the gravel on the fast left right going up the hill fatter the hairpin.

Not likening the track so far. Too many corners where if you get it wrong you just lose time. Sector 1 that hairpin is just a pain, the corners after that go wide and your wide for all the others pretty much. Sector 3 you need good exit on the corners otherwise again you lose time going up the hill.
Fastest lap so far is 1.58.2

I can't drive that track, it's just not right. I go right plus sharp left at T1, take the chicane way too fast and then left again into the wall after the chicane

Maybe I'll check out race A to see what shenanigans are going on there, but will be back at Sardegna A (for the second month) in GT Sport when I get the itch for a competitive race. If there's anyone left... 2 month daily race :banghead:

Yeah im struggling with it like Bathurst.
Im struggling with the curbs. I’m hitting them too quickly which is then unsettling the car and I’m slow off exit. Used the McLaren and that thing glides over the curbs but just can’t string a lap together, 1.59 was my best in the McLaren.

I think if the multipliers were more precise, we could have the least fuel efficient car have little to no fuel by the end of the race with maybe only a small bit of fuel management. Not sure if PD will ever try it though...

I didnt jack up the front or rear and got me top 20 with a 1:19.513, but not the greatest tune I'm sure. Can probably mess with the gearing to make it faster. Could also probably not do so much weight reduction and add some more power. Wide body and wide wheels.

Race A is more fun than i thought it would be - its more gaming the PP system than tuning, but it seems like theres a wide variety of old cars that can dip into the 1:22/23s and its unranked anyway. i probably can't catch someone good driving a Mono but the 89 C4 seems to be closest. if you've upgraded cars at random over the last few months you might find a use for it this week, a couple late 80s winner today for me

Got only my 2nd pole in the maniac Mini. 5th in the race. Absolute hilarity, zooming past anyone on the straights, not a chance of making turn 1, even with massively upgraded brakes. So many track limit penalties.

I'm so used to the N24 layout I automatically turn onto the Nordschleife. With the difference in the chicane I'll be braking far too late for that as well

Anyway, why drive the boring part of the most amazing track. It's like spending your day in the parking lot trolley at Disney world.

I tried the race A today and it is pretty good. Confession: I whined about the whole PP thing. It is fun to try different cars and think about the tuning. For those readding all of the Race A and PP bad press - ignore - jump in for some fun. At least it is fun, today, on Monday before everyone figures it out.

  • PD locked the tires at SH. Good.
  • They should lock the suspension to some default until they sort out the jacked front and submerged rear hack.

After trying a few others I went with the Corvette ZR1 (C4) '89. It is not for sale but is already in my garage. Probably came with a menu book so you all have it?

It starts at about 520 PP. Bought some ballast and the power restrictor and de-tuned it to 500 PP. On the straights is was very fast and manageable through the corners. It is natural 500 PP vs the Godzilla minis. I was able to get past those with ease.

Next, I bought the fully adjustable gear thingee for 20K. Had to detune a bit but I can set the top speed to 240 kph and use the whole range of gears instead of just 3rd and 4th. I ran it for a lap and it feels more controllable in the corners while downshifting. Have not raced yet as I have a busy day.

I think saying PP out loud is funny.

Yes, Nismo engine

You must have some sneaky tuning going on. I did the engine swap with my Lancia too (lots of these engines in my garage recently 😇) and had to almost fully pull down both the power restrictor and the ECU and put almost 200 kilos of ballast in to get it down to 500pp. Now it drives like a truck, and I don't know how to get it faster than a high 1:23.

Took a break from GT7 this evening and went back on tonight just to do some timed laps on daily c. Spent about an hour trying a verity of cars. Managed to do my fastest lap in the McLaren of a 1.57.6. Anyone else tried the McLaren and got a decent result from it?

I’m winning Asian top splits by 10 seconds. It’s Suzuka all over again.

I've only done 3 laps of qualifying but i'm trying to be different from the pack and using the old 99 Nismo GT500, 1:59.x is my best so far but although i've been on this track many times in various games, i've never been on it in GT7! Theres a lot to learn and some time to be gained. (I'm only DR A with SR S so my races should be easier)
I don't have the mclaren but I do want to try a variety of different cars and see how the old Nismo compares.

My fastest lap and tune for race A with what should be the meta car.

Now I will race the cats I want and optimize them.

Could you post up more details about this? I tried following the settings exactly and after triple checking it, it doesn't even calculate the PP, it gives an error icon for it. Assuming NO widebody, what about rim width and size, GT Auto parts, etc. Trying to figure out what I'm missing or why it's not matching up for me, please and thank you.
