The Ford GT LM Race Car SpecII, is a great car.. certainly not the best in the game but very versatile, enjoyed it a lot at Spa 3 weeks ago and it has given me some wins/good finishes. And it looks really good, plus it sounds great.
It's so much more satisfying to click with a car in the game that isn't the meta, it feels more your 'own' that way. I had that early with the Hyundai and it's still the car I'll set a baseline time with now or choose to drive just out of fun.

On Sardegna, a track that i knew good from grinding, i seem to get a real problem.

I won my first 2 daily races in the Jaguar, a car i found really fun to drive. The i changed to the Supra, which was not faster for me but easier, no understeer at all. Supra is ok on the Brakes but the Jag felt better with later brake markers.

As soon as i changed a lot between the two cars it seems i get worse and worse. Now i can't be fast on any of them. 😅

I will try and focus on the Supra as with online racing and my little experience i want a car with less understeer.
I've been running the Jag in Race B, as I find the Supra impossible to drive! Managed a few races today, best position was P2.

Seems like the Supra isn't necessarily the fastest in the race though - every race but one was won by 911s, the one that wasn't was won by a Z4!

Just managed a 1:41.6 in the mustang at sardegna

Edit: next race after that I caught the dub

I did some more qualifying laps with the GT, and almost matches my previous best done with the Jag: 1:49:9, two or three hundreths of a second slower. But I got way more consistent laptimes with it, almost never had a bad lap. It feels like it lacks a bit of punch on corner exit, but it has good top speed and is very stable and precise. So...

...it should be great to use in the races, right? Yes, it is. Three more races, first one uneventful but super clean, started P2, finished P2. Next race I was put in a lobby with mostly DR A drivers, and all hell broke loose. Starting P5, I got punted three times, retaliated twice, as I have to admit, and was called out as a "scumbag" in the chat afterwards by a guy who had sideswiped me deliberately into the barrier on the straight. Go figure. P12 in the end. Strange bunch of guys competing there, it felt like I had a target on my back, as if the A/A and A/B drivers wanted to show me that I don't belong there. They were also punting and ramming each other and called it a good race in the chat...😜
Next race, back in a B/S lobby, my first pole position of the week, I slightly botch a corner exit, P2 does a clean overtake, I end up P2 1 sec behind the winner (again) in a super clean race (again).

Seven races B so far for me this week, no win, but 4 times P2 and once P6 in the B/S lobbies, P10 and P12 and lots of dirty driving in the lobbies that contained DR A drivers. The difference is astonishing. And now I'm so close to A again that I expect to be in a lobby with DR A drivers again next race. Maybe I will just not seriously compete there, to get relegated to B/S again, where I seem to belong...

But, again, I highly recommend the GT LM Race car for Race B this week.

Ähm i found a TrackRacer TR80 for more then 500 Euro?! That isn't cheap i think. Ok Black look cool but +500Euro.
I'm sure the price has gone up since I bought mine, as has everything else. Trak Racer is based in the US, so will cost more for you with shipping. I would check out the Sim Lab GT1 Evo which is very similar. I originally was going to get this but with overseas shipping it was too expensive. But any of these 8020 rigs are going to be strong enough and offer unlimited adjustability.

This week is a rough one for me. I don't really have the time to put into Nordschleife to get a half decent time and feel comfortable on it. And tracks like Sardegna where the walls create a lot of blind turns are a weakness for me. And the downshifting to 1st then right back to 3rd in half the turns is just ridiculous. That's just one thing that irks me about this game, shifting this much IRL would do nothing but slow you down. Just part of it I guess.

Some of my observations at the Nord, the fastest time I have seen these cars win the race at

14:13.214 A+ GT-R
14:17.003 A+ Cayman GT4 Clubsport '16
14:17.173 A+ SLS AMG
14:18.192 A+ 458 Italia
14:24.799 A 155 2.5 V6 TI '93
14:28.860 A+ GR Supra Race Car '19
14:31.706 A V8 Vantage
14:32.618 A 86

Yesterday was still varied, currently my list is stuck on updating the GT-R time, 9 A+ in the room, most GT-R, GT-R wins each time.
(This is on ps4 in the Americas btw)

Yeah sorry, I think I confused you there maybe, I messed up that post completely, first para is Sardegna race, last para is all about Race C at Nurb, not still Race B. Can’t edit it now as it’s had replies, so making me look idiotic, if not schizophrenic...

I agree Sardegna feels different to GTS version, but that might just be the new physics I guess? Somebody more experienced is sure to know, don’t think any corners have been altered... I never drove it much in GTS, no online races I can remember, just the races I had to drive it for single player. It, along with some of the other make-believe ‘in the countryside’ tracks like Alsace, Maggiore, Gardens, and St Criox of course, all leave me a bit cold. Wouldn’t choose to drive any of them with some of the real-life tracks on offer. But GT7 has forced me to drive it to earn...

Edit: ah, ok, can edit it, so that previous post is correct now, makes more sense, left the edit bolded so the changed bit is clear.

Quick question: is there a ‘trick’ to the Karrussel in race C?

I take it normally, basically as in the CE, don’t think I’m especially slow there, but in the few online races I’ve done there I noticed a couple of people, not everyone, just a couple, take big chunks out of my lead there, close to a couple of seconds maybe. Are they riding the wall, or cutting across the middle? Or maybe they’ve just got perfect technique there (which would be a bit confusing as they didn’t appear any faster than me over the rest of the circuit)...

Just wondering if there’s a known trick or something.
And yes, before anyone asks, I am too lazy/otherwise occupied to watch replays; don’t think I’ve ever watched one in my life...

No particular trick. I was having the same trouble as you until last night. You need to enter late and concentrate on maximizing your exit speed. There’s half a second to be gained there once you can nail it.

Two more races this evening at the Nordschleife. I did drop my qualifying time to a 7:19.7XX with my single practice lap. So, that's a bonus.

Race 1, I start P8 and it's a bit shaky in the beginning section, but I find my rhythm. The only trouble I had was that a car spun at Eiskurve and rejoined right in my line and I barely clip the front of their car. So, I need to nurse a broken car around the track and hope for the best until it repairs. Second half of lap 2, I'm behind a Viper and am waiting for them to make a mistake that never comes. They defend to perfection on the long final straight and I think about going 2 wide into the final section but I back off. I gain 2 spots over the race and finish P6. Also got the clean race bonus despite hitting a car?

Race 2 I'm up in P4 and am pleased where I am. P1-P3 are all fighting and I take the lead coming out of Adenauer Forst! I have a constant second or so lead and buckle in for the rest of the race. Well, I go wide coming out of Flugplatz and lose a bunch of spots. Then some contact entering Schwedenkreuz between the Viper from the last race, and I get turned sideways and hit another driver but manage to save my car with an epic slide and get it back on track. I didn't see them honestly. I had no idea everyone was so close to me when I went wide. The drivers I hit got away with no problems. By that time I fell to P7 where I finish. Oh well, it happens.

Those small incidents aren't going to stop me from going again tomorrow. Hopefully, I can keep it on track should I be in the lead again.

I’m in a B lobby and I’m getting nothing but dirty races. I’ve only had two clean ones, and they were boring processions. Better than the “exciting” ones, I guess, where I’ve gotten booted to the next time zone more often than not.

I think I’m done with the Sardegna races this week. Seriously this time. They aren’t rewarding. I’ve no interest in spinning around in a Porsche, so Race A is out. And I’m in no way prepared for the Nordschleife, so there’s no way I’m doing that because that’ll kill what little bit I’ve been able to gain. I learned the hard way in Race C last week: best to just steer clear of those because I’m not good enough, especially as a B driver.

I guess I could just go ahead and take my lumps and get demoted to C again, but those were wreck-fears last week and I expect nothing less this week. It’s just not worth the effort I f I’m not enjoying it.

The main reason I just can’t be interested: the penalty system is apparently not working at all now in Race B. I’ve not seen one person do penalty time in the races I’ve done, and nobody who’s booted me has been dealt a penalty either. How can this be fun for anyone who’s serious about learning how to race?! I understand that the tween/teen crowd is having fun playing demolition derby, but I can’t take this seriously right now. And it’s starting to really grate on me because why the heck am I paying for PSN+ when the races aren’t actually “competitive” in the right way?!

Ok, done venting. I had such high hopes for this week. . .

@Bullwinkle I did one race B this evening (because I got an error again on race C) and it was dirty in the top split as well. Pretty much all the positions I gained were from people purposefully wrecking each other. There was one drive that was clean who I swapped positions with a couple times until he got taken out by someone else :/

Race C is more clumsy than dirty. You not only need to know the track inside out, but also know where people tend to screw up and/or do stupid things. The only way to learn is to do a lot of races there!

Oh and if you're racing on PS5, get the PS4 version :/ I was doing race C on PS4 during notorious dirty hour, it was all pretty clean.

Then I switched to PS5 at 10 PM EST and it was a culture shock. Full contact, highly aggressive racing with outright dirty drivers in the mix. I've done 4 races so far on PS5 and all the same thing, toxic. The penalties do not work, I haven't seen anyone get a penalty. Last race I ended up with one from tapping a track re-entry in the middle of chaos, but the one(s) who put that car off track, nothing.

I'm trying two more races on PS5 but honestly PS5 is not the place you want to do daily races on. I raced at the same time slots yesterday on PS4 and the races were all mostly mindful and respectful (SR S). Sure there are some bad and clumsy apples on ps4 as well yet on PS5 the back is a battle zone.

Sucks, ps4 gives me errors and glitches, PS5 a bunch of dirty scumbags.

Next race, I thought it was going better until the middle straight. At the end, 3 cars in front of me start doing stupid ****. One goes wide, another thinks he can overtake in the last kink, knocks another off. One track re-entry swerves in my path, huge speed difference, I lose all my momentum, the other car gets a boost and makes the corner fine... I get 1 sec penalty.

The buck did not stop here, or rather I made them swallow said buck. At the Karoussel my brakes had a sudden tragic failure and my car bowled all three of them into the wall. Good riddance. I got another 3 sec, 1 sec per car taken out  I guess they were fighting more along the way as they didn't catch up after I served the 4 seconds. For the rest of the 'race' two more cars I got in range off took themselves out. Bunch of clowns on ps5

Anyone else getting Unexpected Error PE-2F001F8 when trying to join daily race c (or whichever race). I joined and completed race just fine moments ago, but won't let me in this half hour.

EDIT: Tried closing GT7, cleaning network data and even restarting PS4 pro... nothing works. oh well, looks like I'm done racing for a bit.
Yes, have been getting it since yesterday.

I am on PS5 and i get a lot of clean races on Sardegna in B/S lobbies. Once i (and 3 others got divebombed at the hairpin after i squeezed someone into the wall on the Straight before, that i just didnt realize was there. (thats why i i try to never react to dirty driving, in 90% of cases i dont know if its deliberate)

Oh and once a TCR driver divebombed in the hairpin but that seemed to be poor judgement as it was a relative ineffective divebomb. ;-)

Rest was clean in my surrounding.

whats the best offline race to make some credits?

Not the best selection of races this week. Only been doing Race B and i'm pleased to report most of the racing has been fairly clean. A 1.40.6 put me mid pack in most of my races which has kept me on my toes. I'm not doing any races at the Nordschleife as it's just way too stressful, but I have been doing the time trial as i do wanna get better at it. From Monday to Wednesday I've managed to get my time down from a 7.22 to 7.07.

It may sound silly now.. but don't worry about your DR. Take advantage of this week and ride race C if you're interested in the track, in my opinion you can't do that much at any other track in any other race Vehicle control AND Racecraft learning like on the Nordschleife.
Overtaking is very difficult almost everywhere and when the guy in front is struggling it becomes almost impossible BUT when you make it... it's a really cool feeling.

Regarding your observation regarding Low A, yes that's not uncommon, although I think it depends a lot on the time of day who's online, but "low" riders in a group are either newly promoted riders and maybe not safe enough yet, or they fight with all means not to get off again. Or they are basically rather unclean drivers and their low status is the maximum they can achieve.

Don't let other drivers get you down and try to have as much fun as possible.

Especially the Ring is a track that can really turn a race completely up to the last corner, into the positive but also into the negative, BUT I believe that if you can drive on the Ring, you can drive anywhere.

And the downshifting to 1st then right back to 3rd in half the turns is just ridiculous. That's just one thing that irks me about this game
This is a real pet peeve of mine about this game. I’m also not very good at it, it feels totally unintuitive. The very quickest laps of any combo rarely bare any resemblance to actual driving, more someone who’s very good at computer games breaking the physics model. Last week at race c i didn’t bother once I saw how to set a quick time; jamming the CLK into 1st gear at 85mph mid corner…. absurd.

I've been running the Jag in Race B, as I find the Supra impossible to drive! Managed a few races today, best position was P2.
Word. I've been loving the Jag on Race B. Although a lot of the field are choosing the Supra, I think they are fooled into thinking they are driving the "meta". I actually like the Supra on this track too, as it grips for days in 2nd gear. The Jag takes a little more skill on the corners (I've been known to set TCS 1, so it's one less thing to worry about), but absolutely flies on the fast sections. Usually even from the rolling start I can gain a couple of tenths on Supras in front.

Have noticed the WRX faring well too.

The Jag is a solid Gr.3 choice on power circuits - it benefits from an early shift too, being a supercharged V8 it doesn't need to rev all the way out. WRX has long been one of my favourite Gr.3 cars. It doesn't have the outright speed but it makes up for it with handling like a go kart.

I mean they’re not being fooled, it is the quickest option. Converting that into race pace is a different issue of course.
Sure. Happy to defer to someone who knows more about the cars. I certainly can't use it to its full advantage yet.

Interesting. Is there any way for me to work this out from looking at the power graph in settings? Or is it just car knowledge?

This is just so infuriating. And there's nothing I can do about it.

Why didn't that car go 'ghost'? Why was it able to run into me with so much momentum? What is this collision system?

  Ah yes, the classic start near the front, then get completely murdered on turn 1 with no penalty for the murderer

I know there was a resource for GT Sport with power curves and best shift points for all Gr.3 cars, I can't remember for the life of me what it was now though! In principle though, supercharged cars tend to be able to shift earlier, especially when coupled with a big torquey engine (ie. Corvette, Jag, Viper).
