I mean they’re not being fooled, it is the quickest option. Converting that into race pace is a different issue of course.

Which is why i went with the Mercedes for every race today. Figured i had to do something different and i did pretty well. It doesn't suffer from much understeer so i could keep up with the Supra's and occasionally makes some moves coming out of the corners.

Unfortunately Race B is making me lose my temper no matter how much I enjoy the track and the good racing is good.

So many clean passes are then 'avenged' with a punt into the next turn it gets me close the point of joining a race just to be an a-hole as well.

Stepping away to chill out!

That was pretty much my experience today, when i did pass someone they would just dive up the inside next corner. A few times i seen it coming in my mirror, braked a bit earlier and cut back under them.

In saying all that as annoying as i find some of the questionable driving etiquette, I've somehow just learned to deal with it and not let it get to me as much as it used to do.

Uhhhggggg...two bad races in Race C tonight. Both races were in stacked rooms and I knew I would be in over my skill level again.

Race 1 I'm in P7 to start with a streamer in the lobby I've raced before so I know they are quick and clean. Race starts good enough, but entering Brünnchen the streamer who saw climbing the field goes by as I go too deep. Another driver gets by me exiting
Galgenkopf as I go a bit wide and lose some speed. I decided to bump draft them to catch the streamer which works but I get the entry to the finish line all wrong and launch myself into the wall, and in a panic, can't get my car straight. Thanks to rage quits I finish P11. Oh, well.

Race 2 I'm in with two more streamers and am down in p11 to start. The streamer from the first race changed cars to a light purple Fate anime waifu Corvette which proves nothing but is really funny to me. I don't get far as either I hit this driver or they hit me as seen below. Two different points of view this time.

Looking at the first replay it seems that they rejoined as I went for the apex of the turn. Which would be a racing incident I think. But, from the replay from the car behind us, it looks like they hit some grass as they to rejoin and they launch into me which is still a racing incident but annoying that I got the worst of it. I could be also be wrong and I'm to blame for this and that's the case then so be it.

So yeah, my race was over real fast after that. On top of that I had a terrible time keeping it on track the rest of the race. I barely manage to cross the line before time ran out. I gain 1 spot from the driver who I had contact with and finish P15. I'll still having fun, I just had some bad luck tonight.

You're not at fault. This is the key frame immediately before impact;

He's pointing at the barrier on the other side It doesn't matter which line you were taking through that corner, he would have hit you. It's a typical, unavoidable Nordschleife racing incident but he caused it, not you.

As much as I think the 911 GT3 is a terrible car on short tracks, I'm actually enjoying this week's Daily Race A.

One win so far, and a bunch of clean races and podiums. Needs more Tsukuba and Miata

I figured as much they were the cause of it. I just want to keep it as clean as possible. Which is near impossible at the Nordschleife with the narrow track.

I've been getting matched up in lobbies with a specific person that purposely griefs other players. Is there no way for me not to get matched with him?

Went out and plebbed along for a couple of race C last night before attending to tuning matters. Had @D_Dragline on pole in first race while I was staying with my trusty Jag. Cue problems as I get all over the back of a Lancer who keeps swerving to block me every time I get a run on them. I end up pulling over as they move to block heading into the miss-hit-miss complex (or reverse those) and I brake, causing a fast approaching guy behind to clip me, spin and wreck. I wait for him as I was the cause and ended up running dead last.

Ran down 2 other drivers who wreck, then when slowly getting up to speed swerve to block my line when I'm trying trying get past, both in places where I had plenty of room. The second one I said screw it and sent it anyway. They get a tap and thanks to the low DR armor algorithm I get a 2 second penalty for knocking them off, despite the fact they didn't go off and were only 0.6 behind afterwards. That put me last again and I did pass 1 guy back when he wrecked again and his block attempt failed by him still being ghosted. Dragline won so looked good up front.

Second race was fairly uneventful. I caught the GT-R in front, and then when we hit a straight section I had a run, at which point the 4WD turbo rockets kicked in and I got dropped like a week old sandwich. From there it was just steady driving. Made a few slides, but neither lost or gained a position so a bit meh. Passing is hard, but I think I'm done as I can't be bothered with the 4WD and I'm just a little too inconsistent to keep pushing this week. Gotta get my Vette dialed in for a race this weekend so hoping for variety next week.

Man that sucks. I kept looking at the leaderboard expecting to see you appear through the crowd. It was pretty uneventful up front. The guy in p2 got within a couple of seconds but never close enough to threaten an overtake. I think we left the others behind very early on.

The ring is fun to drive and a test of handling pressure but you don’t get any really good dicing. Swerve blocking ruins the whole experience.

The "Total" GT-R was in a stupid position, it already had problems and wanted to get back into the race, logically as far up the front as possible. However, he still had his right rear wheel on the grass probably trying to accelerate and that spun him left into the Aston Martin.

I say: Nobody who would have been in this situation would have braked and possibly let the whole field overtake them. It was a mistake and an annoying racing accident that unfortunately sent the Aston Martin into the guardrail.

It was all good. I could have pushed through, but it was my actions that killed the other guy so decided to play nice. There was a guy on pole with a 7:03 in the next race. They didn't get challenged much. If I'm gonna climb through the field more I'm gonna need to switch to 4WD.

For @Mercia the full final act to the previously posted race.

And the Ferrari incident from his perspective (with bonus random crash by the guy behind him).

Having seen it from his perspective I think this is right.

I inadvertently drifted a bit too far right as he approached but moved left as soon as I saw him. He then misjudged his move left and pit maneuvered himself on my front panel. It all happened so fast though that I think it was just one of those unfortunate incidents.
Agreed, having now seen it from his perspective you can see he should have pulled further to the right to keep away from you, but these things happen in a twitchy 458 at 250kph when there's a touch of grass involved!
That red GT-R behind you so nearly took you out. It's a set of corners I often have trouble with too - dealing with the braking zones and off-camber turns through there coming down from such high speeds always throws my balance...

Cam i ask a question? what's the Pole time in daily race c? (driver class b)
It's difficult to say, for one, with the separation of PS4 and PS5... and who's online at the moment. If things go badly, you will meet a former A driver who dropped, but could even be an A+ driver. If you have someone with you, 7.03.xxx may not be enough. In still other races you can probably even be ahead with a 7.08.xxx or slower.

But I would say that a 7.08.xxx in B lobbies is not really bad.

And just now I was exactly shown why I left Sport Mode 4 years ago

The Gr.4 Nordschleife race used to be pretty fun back in the day so I felt like hopping in to see how everything's going in that regard of GT7. Did a mediocre quali lap (7:08) and started P12. Made my way up into P8 closely following P6 and P7 reaching the Döttinger Höhe in Lap 2. I slipstream past both of them and we approach the braking zone with me having cleared P7 almost entirely (my rear wheel ahead of his front wheel).
Nek minnit I'm in the wall, P7 is also facing the wrong way and P8 finishes in 6th probably laughing his ass off.

Did a bunch of races at the nord yesterday, went from 1-6pm. Had an absolute blast. Rooms were mostly a/s with a healthy dose of B/S drivers and a couple A+ in a lot of them. I myself, am a low to mid A.

I haven't been racing, cuse PD killed my road car races, and that has always been my preference, by far. I can't resist the ring though. Knowing i am weak in race cars, even gr4, i started at the back for a couple races Monday and Tuesday. I put down a time yesterday just so i wasn't starting at the back. A 7.13.xxx had me start mid pack for the day.

My weapon of choice is the viper, cuse mopar or no car baby! and it didn't really feel like it was holding me back much. I really felt it was all on me and my inexperience in race cars. Had some really nice battles and close racing throughout the afternoon. Lots of mistakes on my behalf due to lack of focus. Fortunately i didn't take anyone down with me, that i noticed.

Will try to post up the replays and some pics later today, so you can all laugh at mystupid mistakes, but also to maybe see and comment on how i can improve....

Was, as always, a pleasure to share the track with @sturk0167 and @Sven Jurgens

Ran a few laps after all the races, as i could tell i was getting a much better feel for the car, and put down a 7.08.2 with some room for improvement. Hopefully get some more good races in after work today

Logged into my primary account, did a few laps on Sardegna to get a decent quali time. Did one race - started 4th finished 4th. Was pretty boring, honestly. Used the Supra but kinda wish I'd have used the Jag. The little quick right to left just before the last 90* left the Jag feels better through there.

Jumped on the secondary account for some races at the Nord. First race was in the Jag and it didn't go so well.

Second race I wanted to try the Vette and was surprised to start on pole. Three drivers behind were pretty quick (Genesis, Viper, 86) and were always right there. The biggest lead I had was a bit over two seconds but it fluctuated. The Genesis driver had a couple shots at me on straight after the two very soft rights (I don't know the names of everything, sorry) after the crest towards the beginning, then again after the next right hander where the track kinda snakes back and forth. Thankfully, the Vette has some grunt and I was able to get clear before the next turns. He probably could've dive bombed but didn't, so fair play to him.

From there it was just not screwing up and thankfully the Gensis had a mirror full of Viper for basically the whole race so I am sure that helped me some. Gensis was like 1.1" behind as we hit the back straight on the final lap and I was thinking he'd slip stream right by, but the Vette has some pull and even though he was within slip (albeit weak) I was able to still pull away some on the straight. Got the W; that was a fun one. Vette is pretty good there, IMO.

5 hours worth! Eeesh! I wish I had enough free time for that. I'm lucky if I get more than an hour!

Viper is a great choice. Viper at the Green Hell is the perfect combo (and probably why they got banned in the N24 race!).

Some decent racing in B last night, Sardegna is a great track. Dropped my qualy down to a 40.9 from a 41.2 and this lifted me from about p11ish to p7ish in the top split which makes a real difference.

The Z4 is a weird beast around this track. It absolutely dies about half way down the two big straights, like it is keeping up then WHAM runs out of top end. I am a beast on exit though, the secure rear end means I am gaining time on exit, especially medium speed exits where i don't have to ease up, i can just hammer it.

Here is a decent one from last night, I apologised to the Supra driver, i though he was headed for the wall TBH. I was VERY kind to the Lambo through the last corner a lap from the end, i lifted when usually if you take the outside there you are doomed. On the last lap i should have passed him but met him RIGHT on the apex dang it.

HOW GOOD DOES THIS CAR SOUND????????

It was a rare and beautiful thing. I usually only get an hour or two a few times a week, if I'm lucky. Yesterday the wife was not feeling to well, so i was left to my self for the afternoon. I also work 5am-1pm and was home a bit early yesterday. It all lined up so perfectly for me to have an afternoon of fun at the nord.

While i obviously hope she is feeling better today, i wouldn't mind another good session of racing.

Oh, no kids either, which helps

I thought it was unusual to see you at that time of day. :odd:
It seems that the type of racing you experience can be somewhat dependent on the time of day that you race.
I'm not sure if any time is dirtier than others, but after about 4 pm Pacific time, the competition definitely gets faster.
My finishing position gets worse and worse as the sun descends.

Yea I know why it's done and it's very effective. Doesn't make it any less ridiculous. If done IRL something is going to destroy itself in spectacular fashion or you're going to get so much chatter or wheel lock up you'd never be able to control the car. 😆 I still love the game and all and I know it's not real but it still bugs me. 😂

Yeah, if i can get home before the wife I'll try to squeeze in a race or two, but it's rare for me to be racing on a weekday. Since we ended up on the same work schedule (for the first time in 23 years) i usually have to much distraction for racing. I've gotten most of my racing done in the past 10 months or so, early Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Absolutely the rooms get faster as the evening goes on, something I've noticed aswell.

Yep, I'd definitely say the same it just becomes more difficult when I have a limited amount of time to race, especially when I'm relatively competitive at the tracks and losing out to shameful driving and punts.

I have had some extra time today though and enjoyed my runs, there's a good difference in rotating B and C and I've gotten faster at the Nord which is awesome.

Taking a moment to remember that these guys are willing to do ANYTHING for like, 7th, 10th even 13th or 14th sometimes and you get to laugh at it a bit more. They must be very proud of their results.

Next week's daily races:

Saint Croix! Can't wait for half the playerbase to leave. Dreadful track.

Looks like they ran out of creativity with race A, pointless it being no SR/DR now - just a wasted slot.

Monza/No Chicane - Hmm... what's the fastest Gr.3 car?

Edit:
Hey, wait a minute. Race A is 12 laps at Streets of Willow Springs? :odd:

Race C is odd. 5x tyre on RH. It’ll be a boring no stop in the awful Supra. Never learnt St. croix, probably a good time to find out why everyone hates it.
