Yeah, if i can get home before the wife I'll try to squeeze in a race or two, but it's rare for me to be racing on a weekday. Since we ended up on the same work schedule (for the first time in 23 years) i usually have to much distraction for racing. I've gotten most of my racing done in the past 10 months or so, early Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Absolutely the rooms get faster as the evening goes on, something I've noticed aswell.

On PS5 definitely, mornings are barely populated. PS4 already has A+ competing early morning. Both get faster during the day yet overall the ps4 crowd is a bit faster.

I've been alternating between ps4 and ps5 and got a sample of 50 races, 25/25 split. The raw data

Red entries are on PS4, Blue ones on PS5. (I had a lot of free time lol, my wife took the kids to the grandparents yesterday)

My DR has pretty much stabilized for non qualified racing in race C

(First hill is from the 787B at Daytona, the dip is GR.2 at Deep Forest)

I gained 2,200 DR over the 50 races up there.
1,200 DR was lost due to 2 disconnects on PS4 (the 2 black entries)
Not counting the losses due to disconnects I gained 2,400 DR on PS4 and 1,000 DR on PS5.

PS4 has better matchmaking overall, faster backfield making it easier to get a fast start and more DR to earn.

The races where I was alternating between ps4 and ps5 every other race the first 12 finishers in the room were on average:
PS4: A+ 2.7 / A 5.3 / B 4.0 / no lower, average first place finish time 14:21.063
PS5: A+ 2.6 / A 5.0 / B 2.6 / CDE 1.8, average first place finish time 14:22.810

It's not a big difference, but it's measurable. The biggest difference is in the morning

PS5 race (right) was at 8:30 EST, PS4 race at 9:00 EST (left)

Looks like they ran out of creativity with race A, pointless it being no SR/DR now - just a wasted slot.

I'll have to remind myself of the B layout but the circuit is not that bad, at least one of the layouts I quite liked and it has some nice lighting and a bridge(!), it's no worse than Alsace or Maggiore.

I could race Monza on loop for hours so that should be decent depending how the BoP plays out, do we know if there's a mand. stop?

Tire regs are usually subject to change from these predictions so we'll see what we end up with.

Race C is odd. 5x tyre on RH. It’ll be a boring no stop in the awful Supra. Never learnt St. croix, probably a good time to find out why everyone hates it.

At the very least, the update is probably next week and will likely contain some BoP changes, as the rest have. If they've any sense (debatable) the Supra should get a knock.

Knowing PD they'll just have another car definitively faster than the rest though lol.

The supra will be massively OP, even more than usual with no chicane. At least until the update drops and they may nerf it.

This is not real life, it is virtually impossible not to generate a "best" car at each track so once they nerf the supra, something else will just pop it's head up (Mustang??). We have gone Peugot, Beetle, WRX then Supra, everytime they try to fix it something else gets in there.

I get there’ll be a meta. I just don’t like the supra 😆. I actually quite like the beetle. Bring that back as meta. The FT1 has always been a favourite of mine as well.

Personally I always thought the wide track at St.Croix lent itself to some pretty good racing!!

I've been a loyal A racer for years, and the no rating thing has pushed me away from it.
One reason is that your accomplishments don't get rewarded. I got 2 of my accounts to A+ by doing A races.
The other reason is that too many people are just looking to smash other drivers, due to no consequences.
B & C are the best bets now for getting legitimate races.

The idiots running the dailies are losing customers for PD.

It's hard to say, I'm freshly A+ and I have to say yesterday and today I had races where I regretted having bought a PS5... some of them drove sooo bad ****. I haven't seen anything like this on the PS4 for a while. And something like that triggers me extremely, I really hate such unfair guys.


BTW: I'm not a top driver, but I was able to further improve my Q today. Unfortunately I made some unnecessary mistakes and I'm still too insecure with MT.

BTW: I'm not a top driver, but I was able to further improve my Q today. Unfortunately I made some unnecessary mistakes and I'm still too insecure with MT.

Haven’t been able to play this week due to the heat and illness, but finally managed to hop back on to try the Sardegna Daily. 2nd attempt:

Took 77 races to get my first win. My first ever win online. I’m not that good or fast, this was only DR C but still probably my greatest achievement. I should retire whilst I’m ahead.

I really love that Mustang.

Hmm these daily races for next week are exciting! No strat for any race and short races too. I guess with school on summer break, PD took summer break too and just left the servers on basic output.

Sainte Croix not a bad track, a few awkward corners. 3 laps = chaos again especially in Gr4 cars.

At least half of my wins have been in A races. I really liked the challenge of getting these nasty, wobbly, crazy understeering, crazy oversteering street sport cars to go quickly around a certain track. Lots of practice laps went into it, because it was always new, and I loved the diversity. And the replays often looked great, too.

Since you can't earn anything with it, well, I do one or two races usually, and that's it.

Everytime I'm on my way to get my laptime down to 7:10 (which would be sheer perfection for me), I throw it away by either going to fast before the long straight or to slow after it. Or vice versa.🤪

I did. Only thing I missed was the CRB, went wide on lap 2 on that final horrid left before the finish.

I've had to cut my play time down due to work/life things so have been yo-yoing between DR B & C - the difference between the two levels is quite funny, it's like people have to choose between being inept & plain dirty!

Finally made it back to the victory step tonight (race B)!
Felt a bit bad as I had a first lap crash with someone & spun them round, but it wasn't on purpose. I'd normally stop but I'd just had an hour of being punted off race after race so I had a moment of poor sportsmanship and drove on.

Shameful I know but sometimes you have to ask yourself; what would Schumacher do?

PS4 this morning was very clean, no dumb moves, people backing out to give room not to slow each other down or create problems in corners. Even 'dirty hour' has been pretty gentle on PS4.

PS5 in the early morning, don't bother, at least not in the Americas. Matchmaking is so poor SR B ends up in the room and behaves as the SR letter suggests. The SR.S players aren't much better through.

Late morning, early afternoon is decent but you still have some bad apples intentionally trying to get people off the road. For example stick a nose on the inside back bumper in a kink on the middle straight to get by... The PS5 crowd also seems more conditioned to dive bombs as there are a lot more people constantly 'defending' the inside, slowing both of you down. And if you take the outside you get pushed off. Also generally more quitters on PS5 compared to PS4 races.

Evening races are hit and miss. One evening I had the dirtiest bunch in months in my races, last night it was decent. Not as clean as on PS4 but not bad overall. Still a lot of dumb moves, just seems the people that stuck to PS4 are more experienced in racing. On PS5 I saw a lot of attempted overtakes in places where there is very little chance both survive, on PS4 far less of that. On PS4 I haven't had a single issue with people braking out of place, on PS5 I keep a bit more distance as some still brake where there is no reason to brake at all.

And yep, I had the same feeling when I first switched to PS5 this week. The races there evoked the road rage feeling I haven't felt in ages on ps4. Also the only place where I got intentionally T-Boned before we were even at the start line. PS5 also the only place where I ended up with BS penalties, 3 times from idiots fighting in front of me then can't avoid them all when they crash each other.

But now you have the luxury to avoid the idiots. If it's bad on ps4/ps5, switch to the other crowd



Great time btw! I managed a 7:10 once lap 2 in the Lexus with slipstream. I can get it round in 7:12 with clear track. (No idea what I can do under qualifying conditions, I don't want to screw up my rhythm by driving without fuel weight and tire wear :/)

Oh yes, that’s been my experience as well. First time on pole, at the Red Bull Ring, I managed to run wide at the first 3 corners and drop to last place.

This time I decided to just run it like a 4 lap TT, no mirrors/radar/look behind. Worked well but on lap 2 I glanced at the standings and saw I somehow had a 5 sec lead - promptly binned it at the next corner and halved the advantage. Stressful last couple of laps. Hopefully it will be better now I’ve got number 1 done.
