I decided to give both B and C a go tonight. Qualifying was complete gob****e for Monza which is fine, I kinda hate the circuit anyways (yes I know that's a bad take, still hate it). Qualified in the bottom half of the field and promptly was rammed into oblivion. I have an S safety rating and a B driver rating. I expected better.

After that horrorshow finished I jumped into qualifying for race B. I'm not great at the circuit but managed to qualify a respectable 6th for my first grid and 8th for my second grid. I was driving the McLaren as I really enjoy it. It's not as fast as the GT-R but it's very fun to drive and really really likes cornering when you get it right.

Same DR and SR and yeah, just punted from behind in every corner, shoved into walls, just bad.

I'm scrapping daily races till different circuits are available. I had a lot of fun last week on the Ring and did very well there finishing generally top 3 in my races, and they were all very clean.

Now if people can race Nurburgring clean I have no understanding why they can't race St Croix clean. Meh. Back to grinding credits on Le Mans I guess
 
Did 4 race B yesterday. Qualified with 2:22:5xx which was ok but will deteriorate over the week as i dont have much free time. I like the circuit with Tidgneys guide helping a lot.

No ramming was done around me. My rating is B/S.

Mate, at first I had the same feeling about this week but....

Give Race B a try but start by practicing slow, i.e. the TT, AMG or McLaren to get used to the track.

Once you're confident, go for the meta as it's the only car to have a chance.. However, on a positive note and a massive difference from last week, the racing has been fun and clean! 4 of 4 races without incident and I even got my SR back to S after last week's nightmare 🎉

Slowly but surely, starting to tame Godzilla and my best time so far (2:21:3) is enough for an 8 - 10 start in top split lobbies! And I know I can squeeze another second for sure 🙂

Race C is boring, however 🤣

Did 2 races at Monza. Race 1 the 3 of us at the front cleared out and it was looking good until I got punted at Ascari and lost 30 seconds trying to get back on the track. The punt seemed accidental but none the less annoying. Eventually finished 9th.

Second race, I pulled a gap on p2 early but he slowly reeled me in. On lap 8 he starts fighting through every sector and we’re losing time to p3. Eventually he taps my left rear as we enter the braking zone for the chicane. The car unbalances and I end up losing the rear. Finish p3.

Just a really frustrating experience when some simple race craft would help everyone.
 
I'm enjoying monza. Apologies to the fellow aussie I brutally murdered on the last corner with a hyper punt into oblivion - completely missed brake marker :/

This race was particularly delicious - the scenes on lap 2 heading down the straight (I'm the green car)

Half of us including myself became corpses before even reaching the chicane as shoving began as we went in 3 wide:

And the few at the front who thought they may be escaping, got hilariously domino punted, with the punters casually rolling through having gained 8 or so positions:

The lack of patience is unbelievable. It's quite easy to pass at this track because the inside, defensive line is quite slow. There's 12 aps too but nope, gotta push past now.

Yesterday I was P4, p1 had cleared out, P5 a second behind me. P2 and P3 were fighting into the first chicane so I braked early, sat high and yep they both drifted wide (to the left), I was just about to breeze past them both when the idiot behind me hit me. Like did you not see the trouble unfolding ahead of us you imbecile? I recovered and I saw him fight with one guy up ahead, that guy was then off the road and 2 laps later I again see him fighting with someone and this time he was spun and off to the side of the road. So a fast guy, running high 38's but three fights and contact/spins all three times.

Like WTF ARE YOU DOING??????

I’ve had good luck with Porsche, Mustang and WRX. I especially had fun in the Cayman. It is a monster in the corners, and as I said yesterday this allows you to probably be in someone’s slipstream coming out of each corner. Thanks again, @Talon16 for helping me figure out the MRs for Sport Mode. I’m having a blast!

I’m going to try some other odd ones today (Citroen and Ferrari, for example) just for fun. I’m safely in the B rank now so I can afford a few bad races. I’ll post an update.

I had hopes for Jaguar, Lexus and Genesis but I just couldn’t get much out of them.
 
So I managed to do a couple of Daily Race A sessions and on the morning sessions things are normal apart from the usual T1 chaos that happens when someone either forgets to brake or overestimate the braking power that the Civic TC has. I was able to land at least a couple of podiums on the morning sessions including a 45th win.

Then on the afternoon session I got to be queued with @Hdbd04 and he just smoked so hard in the sessions we're but it was fun overall. Was consistently finishing on the podiums like this one. And don't mind the low quality grid because so far today all of the races I'm in was most of the time like that and honestly maybe by next week I'll start doing B or C again depending on the combos just so I can get into a better quality grid.

I’m a race B only kinda guy and really enjoyed last weeks to the point where I got a few wins and manage to gold the circuit experience, and that’s one tough circuit. Appreciate another challenging one this week - my only gripe is the one make start to the week, if it’s going to be like this then at least let there be some choice, last week seemed to do that well, this week back to gtr

I am at 2:20.5 in the GTR(450th in the world as of tuesday Am!) , but I am at 2:21.6 in the RCZ, and 2:21.1 in the Viper.

The RCZ is the current "muscle" car amongst the FWD and it make that double left before the final right very easy to get right. I suspect some people would really love it on this track. If you can always finish a turn in a GTR's draft you have more options to pass in the turns.

fairly new to sport and online gran turismo racing, but I think grid start would be interesting unless there are bad experiences with it.

They worked fine in GT Sport. However the ps4 struggles with fps when there are 5 or more cars close on screen. Even with the long separation in the rolling starts at the Nordschleife, I still had lots of fps dips on ps4 pro while starting at the back.

Grid starts in custom races can be a slide show on ps4 :/

You can try the Jag, but I'm afraid it will be too difficult. Wherever the GT-R rules, the WRX should be able to perform similarly well. A lot of power counts on this track and unfortunately also a lot of grip. I also tested the M4 here, but lost easily 2 seconds on my GT-R time.

Apart from that, I was able to improve the time a bit and I still have room for improvement, but I don't really get along in races, or rather they don't give me much joy at the moment.

I also set a new time for race C, but I'm still too slow in Monza and/or with the Supra. I tested the (our) Ford, it's fun and handles the corners/chicanes wonderfully, but even it clearly lacks top speed compared to the Supra.


 
the thing is the WRX will only do 142ish in 5th gear meaning you have to shift to 6th briefly which waste time, the GTR will do 150 on flat in 5th gear which is how fast the fastest part of the St Criox B is. I actually think the WRX get to 135-140ish faster than the GTR.
 
I’m still struggling with the GT-R in Race B for some reason. I just can’t get any pace with it. Maybe with some practice. . .

As promised, I tested some more cars. I’ve been totally loving the MR cars, and my three fastest cars have been with them. The Porsche is wonderful, and I had great fun in the Cotroën, which seems to have the perfect gearing because it’s the only car I can get into 7th. I’m not as fast in it, but I left a lot of time out there and I’m sure it has some real potential if someone wants to practice with it.

But my fastest time so far is in the Ferrari. It’s stable, quick, and loves to corner (just like all the MR cars). I highly recommend it.

I’m only at 2:22.201 right now, and I have no idea how people are getting below that!!! But I’ll keep at it. The B/S lobbies so far have been clean. The one time I was stuck in an A lobby I got horribly abused, and that was with me placed third from last!

Race C - started with this race. Wow boring! So the racing was good and it was a decent battle at front, but it’s just boring. It needs tyre strat adding. 12 laps of slip streaming and then making your move on the last lap.
Started P6 (I think) and nothing to really boast about. Just stayed in the slip and waited for the other infront to make the mistakes, which did happen. Found myself on lap 7/8 in P3 and P2 was losing a bit of ground to P1 but for ever reason they didn’t like me bump drafting them and they ended up trying to break the slip for some reason? Next lap P1 runs wide and spins so P2. Lap 11 I’m close and make a move for the lead as I was faster in the corners so thought I was able to hold on. Lap 12 I have a bad exit at parabolica and gift the lead back and that how it finished. P2 happy with the result.

Race B - This is were I’m having the most fun. Having the same old issue with the GTR in that I just can’t find the damm time from the car. Using the Aston Martin which is holding up well in the races. I love the handling in the corners round this track. Only on 2.23.2 at the minute so Q place is bottom 10.
Done 4/5 races today. First race I was in A/S (I’m B/S) slot which I found strange? So unless it’s been a quite day or nobody races this race? Anyway Im P9 and keeping up with them up ahead and up to P6. Lap 2 I get a bad exit from the awkward right hander after the bridge and down the straight we are 3 abreast down the straight into the braking zone. Brilliant driving from the other two racers. Finish this race last in the end as next lap i just clipped the bridge entranc.
Other 4 races I’m still with A drivers but more B drivers start entering, but same issue with my Q time. Had a P11m finish, P16 (spun on the 90 left after the bridge) and last race was another brilliant race were I finished P7. Started P11 and made a few overtakes and others were due to crashes or errors. Had a great clean battle with a few drivers, and was P6 going into the final corners, but went a bit too aggressive and had a poor exit and popped on the line.
Race B needs to 5 laps. Think this is one of my top daily races.

I think the key with the GTR in this race is really good trail braking with a very light pedal, probably much hard with a controller. If you see the Gamestop GTR that is me!

That's the biggest variety of cars I've seen in a daily races race since, well... ever. Nice. Too bad I can't drive this week.😬

Also, got a plenty for nothing... Guy on my left heading into last turn, a ghosted player reappears in front and very slow. I brake as hard as I can and just tap him gently, his car didn't even flinch!

Saw your flying fruit machine in my first race today (4pm UK slot) run off into the distance. You been in having mixed A & B drivers over that period?

That penalty is a joke. You can punt someone off track and get no penalty but a slight bumper rub get you 2 seconds! Hopefully that’s one of the things getting updated in this new update.

That was my last mixed race as all have been A and A+ now. Had just recovered my SR back to S from last week!

Really annoyed me (penalty) dropped me from 5th to 13th but managed to climb up to 7th by the end. I've had 4 top 5 finishes and 2 third places, aside from the penalty race.

I improved my lap by another tenth and NNT is in the low 19s now 😵‍💫😳🤪😁 Definitely an alien 👽🛸😀

Lol that's me on my EU alt trying to make the Swift work trundling around behind everyone in the video. Didn't go so well.

Tried a couple of other cars too, the Jaguar and the Mustang, which were slightly more successful.

Don't let it get you down... the next good/better race will definitely come.
 
Think I am going to do some quali laps in B today. Even though the Gr4 cars and I don't get along, might as well do something. Will likely try the GTR, Mustang, and possibly the Vette. I liked the Vette at Nurb.

Ah ok, yeah I started to get more evenly matched races towards the end. Guess it was a slow day for racing prior to that.

I thought that was you, but it was so confusing as Ive seen you post a .20 on your main and then on this it was .22.
Have to say when I saw the swift starting behind I knew I had a safety lap before cars behind caught up. Think everyone so far has said the Swift is terrible.

Hahaha, my quali laps on that account were me trying to drive cars that were not so good here - I could only pull out a 2:23 in the Swift! That matched the laptime I set for the first ever lap I completed round here, for comparison.

Really not a very good car at all unfortunately, as I think they're amazing little things in real life.
