Got some wins this morning on the #1 account. Not great lobbies at all, in all honesty (including the one from my previous post) but I'll take it. I think I am finally getting the hang of Bathurst and the McLaren is so nice on the infield. Throttle controlled powerslides into the turns are great when pulled off correctly. Similar to the Ford GT LM II but a little more stable (albeit at the cost of top end on the straights). Still not a fan of this track as a whole and my times aren't where I'd like them to be

Definitely a game of inches sometimes. Pretty sure I heard that driver's side mirror was screaming in terror.

I was a bit hesitant on the no DR/SR thing but I have to say, it worked out great on this week's A anyway. So many different cars being used; one race I was in had 10 different cars. The McLaren, Vette, Stang, Supra, Beetle, Skyline SS, Supra GT500, Z4, M6, McLaren F1, WRX, Evo, Skyline GT500 off the top of my head were regulars. The big negative is there's going to be a bunch of ramming and shadow realm visitors, right? Literally didn't see a single one. YMMV but I had some great, respectful racing this week. Great to see.

Is each race time compared to other people with the same starting position? Pole to last is already like 10 seconds quicker before you’ve started
No, as I wasn't aware of there was such a big difference.
Do you know if there is away I can adjust times to take starting position into account?

If not I guess like irl your qualifying time is really important.

Also, does anyone know if your Dr gets locked once you enter Nations or manufacturers cup? I’m about 0.1mm off A+ but it hasn’t moved despite pole/win/clean/FL 5 races in a row….

Had a very nice, consistent race this evening, led from pole to finish and my laps didn't vary too much, other than the first lap and the last two which involved a pit stop.

It is nice to see some car variety in the daylies , meaning not everybody in the same car in Gr.4/Gr.3 for a change

and seeing more Mclaren makes me happy :D (now give me that 720s GT3 please)

you have to be less than .7 tenth slower on the hards, than mediums for no stop to be faster than 1 stop change tires(no fuel). I havent found a car where this is true yet.
The only time I've made a no stop work was using the Swift and i started on pole, didnt fight if anyone tried to pass me and just tried to stay within 9 seconds of the leader Race C No Stop in Swift
Edit: But i have just noticed the other 2 were in the G70, so it probably wasn't possible if they had used the Megane

Daily C, I got beaten the last 2 races in a row (despite me starting on pole) by a guy doing a no-stop in the G70. I was intrigued by this enough to watch the replay and see how he did it.
I can't figure out how to switch mfd in replay (???) so don't know how to see fuel map - anyone able to help me out on that?
But he appeared to be in auto trans (!?) and this was short shifting about half way up the bar. I don't know if the auto just behaves like that or he was in auto mode but manually shifting.
Anyway obviously was fuel saving a lot but still managing to run consistent ~1:31 on RH whilst fuel saving. I found that pretty impressive, I don't think I could replicate it. Also he did not have slipstream most of the time, due to being in 2nd (whilst I was ahead out of range) or in 1st.
Meanwhile, I've become too scared to go all out due to having big leads then completely binning myself several times, lol. So whilst I got up to around 10 seconds ahead doing mostly ~1:30, it wasn't enough to make up for having to pit. Every time I've tried to do 1:29's in-race I end up binning myself eventually haha :(

Not really. The rolling starts are so spread out it would be a lot of work to figure out the deltas. Plus you have tracks like spa where half the grid start behind the chicane while p1 is on eau rouge so the initial momentum is completely distorted as well. Just something to bare in mind that’s all

Thanks for your input, I'll keep it in mind.

On another note, I'm really looking forward to the next set of daily races. This was my first week of racing online and I enjoyed it alot.

Your DR doesn't get locked, but you do get locked into the GT level 1, 2, or 3 for that season.
Problem is, with the grids like the one you had there and one of the ones I had earlier, because the room DR is so low you might not get more than a few points for winning. Back in GT Sport I remember a really bad room where I was just below A+ and everyone else in the room was DR C. I only got 10 DR points or so for winning. That definitely won't move the bar much.

Race A will be missed this week. Enjoyed just racing for fun and having a laugh with a few familiar names. Back and forth in chat and close if sometimes chaotic racing but all good natured.
It is mate, what rank are you? I'm only rank C, not sure if I'll get to A, B maybe.
You might surprise yourself. If you can get to B then getting to A is just a matter of consistency.

I wouldnt mind that DR all too much. Online racing is fun, but the reason for that isnt the ranks.

I was at A for some time and it wasnt more fun than D.

I'm honestly not to worried about my rank, as long as I'm competitive in my rank but most importantly having fun.

I became B first time a few years ago. Never rose above it. I am apparently a low B natural.

I don't think you become A naturally. I think the most important thing is to pick your battles, run races you are good at and not run races you aren't.
Almost everyone I know that rose to A did it by picking and grinding the races they are best at.

I have limited time, so I run what ever race is on. That's costly.

Yeah, I haven't raced online in several weeks: since Race C was at the Glen. Not because I'm necessarily picking and choosing in order to gain DR but I only race what I think will be very fun for me. And a side effect of having fun is often some decent results. This is probably why I bounce between B and A all the time.

It seems revealing that this is the least amount of discussion in the daily race thread that I’ve ever seen. I retired from Race C this afternoon after a few more P7 finishes. Brands Hatch just hates me. I can’t find the consistency I need for it. Plus I’ve been in mixed lobbies with many A/A+ drivers, which makes it seem like not many other people are interested in it either.

I’m hoping next week will be more exciting. I have a new rig and new load cell pedals coming later this week, so I’ll be able to make a direct comparison of my lap times without and with load cell pedals! I hope it’s as good as I hope it is!

Managed to finish Race C in a personal best 18:48.053 just now, knocking 8 seconds off of my last time. Seems I have no problem stringing together laps when I start in front, but the wheel to wheel antics from opponents in the middle of the field get to me.

I may have been in that race with you. What is your DR?

Since dipping a toe back into online racing, I’ve discovered that I’m at the pointy end of the A’s, and a bottom feeder amongst A+.

I’ve never really been in top split before until now, but I can already tell the key to me getting to A+ will be consistency and picking and choosing my battles while racing. The difference between me genuinely mixing it up with the A+ guys is spending the time qualifying 😑. Which I simply don’t have time for. What I really need to do is put the time into learning other tracks. I don’t know Watkins or keyoto very well. Guess I gotta fire up the alt account

But at any rate, I’m liking the top split lobbies. Generally speaking, everyone is pretty self-policing for driving etiquette. Lots of really fun close racing. Which is absolutely remarkable at Brands.
