Has anybody made a decent tune for the Alfa MiTo, maybe better than my own? I've still got some work to do in Race A this week, and I won't do it in the Scirocco. 😆

Interesting and a bit strange to see that I'm around 35 PP down compared to the Scirocco despite same weight and power. I can't even get the downforce over 100/150 despite having all the aero parts installed.
I think my suspension settings for the MiTo is in the race thread from the last race. I don't know if they are of any use though

I'm at 1:20.0 for race A using praiano's tune except front roll bar at 1and given that I don't have any of the special parts there's no way I can compete for top times. I think I'm just going to focus on tuning the more obscure cars though I have to grind for credits first or wait until the time trial ends, I will see how it goes. For now I tried the engine swapped '97 Civic and it's about 3 seconds slower. I also tried it with a jelly car tune but it can't roll on comfort tires.

!st time I ever got 3 stars in the same race.

Has anyone tried the Focus ST yet for race A? Base model is a bit heavy but engine is pretty torquey.

If the number of tuned Sciroccos rises to a level where I can't compete at least middle of the pack with my MiTo, the Focus is on my list of alternatives to try. I've seen it in two of my races, but behind me. So far I have always been the fastest non-Scirocco (clearly behind the well-tuned and well-driven Sciroccos of course).

Race C seems fun. Only got one qualifying lap in so started near the back, but pitted early for hards and managed to end up 4th. Definitely due to mistakes from other people than from my own skill though.
This week is definitely a chance to run through my garage Group 3's and see how much fun I can have nicking positions through mistakes, tyre wear and strategy.

I can see there being a few variations considering how much trouble people are clearing having using the Porsche in race compared to qualifying.

I’m working on tuning the RCZ and I’ve got it going faster than my Scirocco so far, although I haven’t really tried the VW much. I may be wrong, but I think the RCZ has the most torque of them all when tuned up. I have a lot more testing to do and I’m only down to 1:21.9xx, but I like it as an alternative.

On a side note... Does a car perform better with better parts, even if has to be detuned post-installation?

Eg. Racing exhaust when installed takes me from 250hp to 275hp but the limit is 250, so I must immediately undo the power increase. Will the car still be 'better'?

yeah some car have vastly different aero from the same parts purchased. Also many of the good set up use less down force in the rear so you can rotate though the faster turns.

only if the power curve is better by the better parts and/or the engine revs up more freely.

Focus ST, is too heavy and not enough aero, not chance of it having against the meta or the beta.

it may give you more torque for the same power

Player numbers seem low for this one, always get stuck in races with As and above, so no chance of winning or competing with the meta. Just looking for some variety in the midfield battles (plus once this race is done, I can build the cars up to full BTCC spec - without the hybrid - 350 HP, 1280 KG).

To show how low the numbers are, I was in the top 900 times last night, with a 24.0 in the Civic.

Finally set some laps on TT last night. I know they is still a little bit of time to find.
Race B 1.31
Race C 1.19

Would anyone like a feature where you could see your old TT times on tracks that have been repeated?
I’d love be able to compare my lap time from the last time Gr2 featured at Fuji. Be good to see how much lap I’ve improved over the months.

That feature used to exist in the dashboard delta. It was in GT Sport and for some reason they removed it.

It's my number 1 complaint.

Also, because of changing BOP it might not be relevant data.

It never really worked properly in GT Sport, did it? Quite often it didn't save my times there or showed ones that were definitely not my quickest times

Oh that sucks. Would be good to have just a list somewhere of all your fastest laps from the daily races TT.
I guess the only way to really see the time difference would be to do the TT‘s on the tracks, but Ive only run this on one track, so wouldn’t really get a good comparison.

I honestly don't know.

The reason I miss it is because I only discovered the feature late in GTS' lifespan.

Maybe that's an insight into why they haven't got it in GT7

yeah for sure. in the racing I saw last night the vast majority of the top cars were Porsches but almost none of them were able to finish where they started. If you can put it all together the 911 dominates, but it's incredibly easy to spin off/cut track/make mistakes with.

I'm running the Mercedes as I'm most comfortable with that car. It's punchy, fast, and corners well. Takes care of it's tires pretty well (not great, should have pitted lap 6, stretched it to 7, lost a bunch of time that last lap)

Did a race c on my 2nd account. Knowing I’d Be near the back I was placed 12th in a lobby made up entirely of recognisable A+ names. Not a particularly enjoyable race. The porsche is easily quickest but miserable to drive, the medium stint was a chore. A couple of bins and one overtake saw me finish 9th in a largely uneventful 15 laps. Not sure I’ll bother again.

Race C is good fun this week. Feel like you have to concentrate 100% of the lap.
Quali up to 1.19.5 with AMG so started P4.
So far I’ve only done the 1 race. Start on hards and the cars around me are all on mediums (only 4 cars started on hards). I hate the 1-2 laps as I just don’t feel comfortable with the tyre grip and I’m always cautious about crashing into someone, but I seemed to be involved in a little scuffle with a Porsche and then a lap later a SLS. In my view I’m 50/50 on whether I was at fault all 3. I can see the argument from both camps. Other then that I had a great race with a South African driver behind me. We was about equal pace, I was strong at the start of the lap, but they were strong at the back end so the time was always between 0.5-1 seconds. Didn’t know what lap to pit to mediums so went lap 10. I was closing in on P3 at the end but not enough laps.
As for tyre strat has anyone tried pitting on the last lap for mediums? My race pace was 1.20 on hards and getting quicker ever lap, and mediums I did 1 lap in 1.19 (fastest) and the others were 1.20. So as for pace I felt like I would have been better staying out longer and maybe 1 or 2 laps medium.

Issue 1 - think racing incident. Felt like the Porsche maybe pushed to pass
Issue 2 - I run wide but I feel like I still have the racing line, but I still leave space on the inside. Not sure if the other driver just lost control or it was intentional but they got a 2 second for it. But then on the flip side should I have backed out?
Issue 3 - I feel like I had my nose along side them and they turned into me. But then did I push to pass?

First go at Race C, went with my dependable Hyundai Gr.3 which didn't qualify well, starting in 14th but in race seemed to keep pace okay.

It's an interesting race, finally a tire wear pitter and not fiddling with the fuel mix which I appreciate, gives 2/3 different options in how to play it. Short enough lap that it doesn't outstay its welcome after 15 and I'm not a huge fan of Maggiore usually, especially with the big dipper hairpin taken out but it does work well here.

Will have to try out some of my garage and see what could be competitive before settling on the Porsche or Merc.

Was running in 12th but totally fluffed turn 1 on the last lap and went straight into the wall, the braking point is very difficult to see in cockpit view in the sunshine, I'll need to be more alert going into it.

Yet to try Race B but the combo is a favourite of mine anyway, it's overall a much better week even if glaring issues still remain.

It's amazing how quickly people can take the fun out of something that could be enjoyable otherwise. Wanted to continue my hunt for decent finishes in the Scirocco cup. But in stark contrast to yesterday, today most participants seemed to think that by driving the meta car they have earned the right to push and punt. Whenever I entered a corner with someone behind me, I braced for impact - which then came almost every single time. Why use the brake if you have a MiTo in front of you...

Anyway, my race day is over. No server connection, error message E-whatever. Does anybody have the same problem?

I'm surprised it's a question at all but I did my fastest lap on the hards, which was admittedly likely just due to getting quicker around the circuit, but overall the times on mediums to hard were pretty consistent and very close. I pitted early off the mediums which in the moment felt like a bad choice but it didn't affect my actual pace all that much.

PSN went down for a few minutes I think, or at least it got hung up. Seems back to normal now.

1. I think that’s fine, alreday through when contact made and it didn’t really change the outcome.
2. He has dirty tyres and messed up, wasn’t intentional despite it looking bad but he should have been more careful so deserved penalty.
3. That’s fine. Clear overlap. He could have hung out on the outside and slowed your exit but he wasn’t paying attention.

Not enjoying Race B tonight. 3 races in a row I’ve been near the top
1st race some hit my rear on the final corner so went spinning.
2nd race P1 & P2 we’re fighting and i try to avoid them which then drops me back towards P4 and I get squeezed wide on the grass.
3rd race running in P2 and the rear just snaps before the final corner

Going to retire for now

Does anyone have a tune for the engine-swapped EK Civic?

I'm rolling with a half decent one, but it's designed for use with the default engine, and I can't get the thing to turn.
