The weather radar also moves far too fast. One of the races I entered lap 2 in first, all looked clear. Weather became visible right after I passed the start, people further behind pitted for tires and the top 5 all got swamped in the rain and fell to the back.
I have also noticed the unbelievably fast moving weather.

After reading your post, I figured a test was in order. I just did a custom race at Le Mans, and I chose the worst possible weather.

Judging by the 5 mile scale at the bottom of the radar, I estimated that the track is about 3.5 miles from Tertre Rouge to the Mulsanne corner.
The rain appears to cover that distance in about 6 seconds. That is 35 miles per minute, or 2,100 miles per hour (3,379 km/h)!!!

In summary, I have no idea what you're talking about. The in-game weather only moves 10+ times faster than the worst category 5 hurricane.

Again, crossgen being enabled would alleviate a lot of these weird low player lobby issues, it does surprise me that they haven't yet. I assume there's some stability issues behind the scenes preventing it, because there's not really any other reason.

I honestly don't think it's difficult to solve. You can easily track where and how contact is made.

For example, the system can be programed to recognize and register the difference between contacts with the wall and:

  • Contact with a car from behind
  • Contact with a car from the side
  • Contact with a car from the front
  • Speed of both cars
  • Braking measurements

From there a simple algorithm can be set, using countless volumes of data gathered and be able to separate players who make genuine mistakes (as these instances wouldn't be frequent) and those who are bastards.

Once someone accumulates X negative points, which would be the dirty moves, you're moved along into lobbies with scum like you. The end.

Also, just to add some more context to my argument, I've been working in product and dev management for 18 years so I'm not speaking out of my ass 🙂
I’ve been saying stuff like this for a while. They brag about being able to model and track every single ray of light for the most realistic visuals possible, but they can’t track how 16 cars move in a race? I don’t care if I get blinded by the “realistic” light reflecting off the car’s tail lights in front of me. I DO care to be able to see their brake lights when they’re brake checking me. And why can’t they figure out what should be penalized?

People complain about the braking zones in the game, and I agree that they’re not perfect (I don’t use them anyway), but that seems like an incredibly easy way to track who is braking appropriately, who is brake checking, and who is divebombing the crowd at T1.

The priorities in this game are so jumbled, like they couldn’t decide if they wanted a race simulation or a car collecting game, career mode or online sport mode, so they threw it all in trying to please everyone, yet giving the worst versions of each so almost nobody is actually pleased with the outcome.

Could not agree with you more!

For those of you that ran the De Tomaso Pantera race with me: round 2 is up for signups

In GT Sport matching was supposed to be based upon SR lvl first. In GT 7, this appears not to be the case nor has been for some time, if ever.

Yet another example of breaking something that didn’t need fixing.

Today I saw that my ABS light was flickering and realized that when I calibrated my pedals a couple weeks ago I did the clutch twice and not the brake, so I’ve been basically riding my brakes for two weeks! I recalibrated and immediately took over a second off my quali time for Race B. I’ve had good races all day but for some reason tonight I’ve forgotten how to do the chicane of death, and died. Several times. I don’t know what changed but I had to quit because the collateral damage was unfair! Ah well, one problem solved, a new one to figure out.

I think the lobbies are pretty thin at times so they get loose on who to pair together. I’ve had some races with only 14 cars at times.

I had 1 race A start with 4 players and 5 end with 4 players this week. I've also raced against the current fastest on the leaderboard twice and had 1 race with 4 players within the top 100. It's pretty much random at this point.

Having a blast in race B this week, not getting much practice in, could only muster a 1.41.2 which is about 8-12th starting, but really liking this track, been using a beetle and best result been third from 14th. Looking forward to red bull’s ring next week!

Absolutely true, so unfair!

So after a week of this new damage thingy I'm starting to feel its maybe just a bit too much.....In Race C i've found it acceptable but that's maybe cause I'm starting near front and in A/A+ lobbys.....Tried a few Race B's and......jeez your entire lap/race basically comes down to if you can get through the death chicane at a decent speed without touching the wall.

Now Race C next week........Basically it's probably gonna be a Porsche 919 one make and how you manage the hybrid. The Toyota TS050 that was amazing on keeping its hybrid/battery in GT Sport does nothing of the sort in GT7, the newer Toyota GR010 is amazing on retaining battery.....but it hates corners....its murder to get it to turn.

Had a good race day! I did race Bs, got a pole, got 2 wins, and finished on the podium so frequently, I decided to mix it up and try different cars. I podiumed in the BRZ, the VGT-1, and the Supra, and took pole and the win in the beetle. It was a great lobby with the top 5-10 drivers within a second, many different cars, and for the most part, clean racing on the American server.

But alas, I flew too close to the sun...I was working my way up in the Mazda Concept in the time trial when I was taken away from my safe place in the DS lobby, and thrown into the B/C lobby.

First race - I ruined a Canadian's race in turn 1 - so sorry. We both wanted the same apex.

Second race - I was absolutely sent into the wall by a Northern Neighbor in the channel of chaos.

Overall, though, a good day, enjoyable racing. I hope to continue to get better so I can someday compete in a lobby other than D.

Returning from my cough 'suspension' cough I see it's still elbows out in the daillies. I actually don't mind Seaside in reverse, it's not a bad track, but we still continue with this everywhere is an overtaking opportunity mentality it seems. At least damage punishes some of these but often both parties.

There's one line through the esses, the idea you're going to overtake someone there without incident is madness.
I felt like the BRZ was capable of a faster line through the esses. Made more than a few clean passes there in the BRZ.

I ran race C for the first time Saturday and was surprised at how well it went. Not to many bashers.
Now race B on the other hand was all about getting your elbows out. I'm D/S driver and my lobbies
were mostly C drivers.

Really hope next weeks Race C is better.

Not a fan of this Sardegna layout in reverse, no strategy, and a total BOP mess with one car being way better than the rest.

Hopefully you like Fuji then 😝. As next/this weeks race C is looking like its a one make (Porsche 919) and there is no strategy either.
I'm not really a fan of Sardegna A Reverse either, but that was part of the appeal of Race C.....I like trying to get better at tracks, combos I'm generally not that good at. A wider choice of cars would be better i agree.....but with everyone in the same car it creates a more level playing field. I've had some amazing racing in the last 2 Alfa fests (DT Gardens & Sardegna A Rev)

Happy to confirm they did not change Race A from Nenkais tweet, and DR/SR is now enabled in it again!

Long time overdue. Y'all know where to find me on track this week :D

I’m so ready (for my DR to tumble)

Go Tokyo Drift GIF by The Fast Saga

What daily-races do we have ??
A - Laguna Seca, 4 laps, Honda Civic Type R (EK) '97, CS, grid start, DR/SR enabled !, no tuning
B - Red Bull Ring, Gr.3, RH, 5 laps, fuel/tyre both 1x, BOP
C - Fuji, Gr.1, RM, 13 laps, fuel/tyre both 1x, BOP

Never give up (especially on your own challenge).

I was doing a first to last to first challenge, but then it got interesting with synchronized spinning, ABS failing, and great racing until the very end.

It's time

And I'm so ready to get pushed in the "sandpit" of Red Bull Ring's Schlossgold (sector #4), losing 5-10 positions each race.

So Daily C is all about regen of the battery. If you can regen the battery before the straight it looks like you are in with a good chance of winning. Some of the YTers that can regen are winning but like 20-30 seconds of the rest of the field.
