GR.4 at Goodwood would also be a blast. Fast and flowing and throwing cars through corners
I was excited at the idea of seeing Goodwood Gr.4 or even 3.....until I remembered the chicane.
It would be a total disaster between pile-ups, penalties and damaged transmissions/engines.
A blast indeed, in every way

Fuji gr3 would be nice... No mandatory tyres, multiplieres and number of laps set that at least two strategies are possible, no stop on Meds with fuel saving or one stopper on Softs for example.. Yes I know, it wont happen;)

Taking a break from a frustrating race b, where everyone in front of me was too slow around corners and caused me to have to be defensive to not hit them, and the people behind me used those opportunities to pass me. And in typing this I realize it doesn't make complete sense, but that's the way it felt. And then on the next to last lap, someone hit me twice just to make sure they knocked me out of the race - I honestly don't think it was intentional, just bad driving, but it still was the capper to a bad race.

So instead, here's something I'm not sure I'll ever accomplish again. First, I'm at the top of my friends list by a quarter of a second:

That may not seem like a lot to most of you, but remember, I'd never sim raced before this game, I still use assists, and I just turned 66 (yes, I'm milking this for all it's worth). So to me, this is pretty cool.

Good job mate! Any achievement is an achievement to be proud of. Milk it for all you want!

But did you fist pump as you crossed the finish line next to the pitwall?

It does it always shows you your starting spot and the other drivers....
And you can change tyres before the start.
You can change your tires while waiting for the race to start... at the time when you can chat with people, go to the car's settings and swap them out.

I usually change tires when I'm waiting on qualifying to finish...
Holy crap! How did I not realize this?! Sheesh. . . :dunce:

I don't think Glen will come up. We already had it the past two weeks for the Corvette time trial, and the week before that in Race A.

It's time for some Daytona road course....but knowing PD they'll opt for another unpopular track created by them.

I don't see them putting La Sarthe in any of the three races. Did it ever come up? It's a long track. Doesn't fit A. Doesn't fit B because it would be only 2 laps or so. Maybe C...
Daytona road course was up for Gr. 3 not too long ago 10 laps if I recall 1x RH tyre of course and the Supra Racing Concept dominated ..
La Sarthe is too long yeah, twice (about) as long as Spa is. That said, Spa had a 5 lap GR.4 race a couple weeks ago or so, I can see PD trying to do a 3 lap La Sarthe but I'd hate it. You really need that to be close to 10, with tire wear and fuel usage, and I don't see a whole lot of people wanting to invest 30+ minutes for a daily race like that.

What would be really fun, for any class, would be a 10 lapper at High Speed Ring, tire and fuel usage, two compounds. I think that'd be a blast.

GR.4 at Goodwood would also be a blast. Fast and flowing and throwing cars through corners
This would be heaven for me for a nice change, especially if they went day, night, day w/ a bit of drizzle in the middle .. who am I kidding this will never happen ..

Well wet weather would definitely eliminate some of the idiots from wrecking you, since most of them can't drive in the dry weather,

Hey! That's me in the black Viper...does this make me famous?
Well, you know what they say: You don't want to be pictured on someone else's poster.

I kid, thanks for racing clean. I specifically remember that other red Vette hitting you off the track going into the last turn... that was shady on his part. But you were doing well!

Race A (and tuning races in general) are always a good bit of fun for car variety. The front runners always run the same things (as always) but with no stakes the bottom half of the grid produces some close battles with some good variety. Gives me vibes of the GT4 Tuner Village races.

The livery and car customisation of GT7 is really really good. The game lacks racing cars in some areas but you can certainly make up for some of it in how you can customise the road cars.

I'm in the same boat as you mate, i slow down to not hit the ones in front as they're slower but get bombarded from behind... I've given up plenty of positions to not get rammed but at least finished higher than I started and kept my clean bonus!

No... am I supposed to do that?
There's always next time. My first two wins in GT Sport were stolen from me right before the finish line (seriously, it could NOT have been timed better) by a power outage and a disconnect, respectively, so you can bet I fist pumped on my first victory.

Got my first win today! Race C with RX Vision. Went in not expecting much, just to practice short shifting and racing under pressure and ended up winning by 10 seconds or so. Great lobby as well, people trying to learn and not bumper cars. Still get nervous during initial laps and need to be better about practicing with short shifting in mind. The differences in the gears at certain intervals threw off my cadence for a bit.

Ah, now I understand. I have 52 wins now, but absolutely yes, when I won the first one, I celebrated loudly!!

I ran in A lobbies yesterday evening in Race C for maybe 6 races and didn’t die! In fact it was only a mixed A & B lobby that I got torpedoed. In the others I finished between P7 and P2 in different races. I’m now firmly ranked A/S (for now) and expect to run in mostly A lobbies. A couple weeks ago this was a hopeless proposition for me, but now I actually feel competitive even against A+ drivers. I’m not stuck at the end of a procession, and feel like I can work the strategy in my favor now.

I got to race just ahead of @Childe Roland in my last race. I have no idea how you ended up behind me, but hanging on for P5 felt like a real accomplishment. I was sure you were going to overtake me. I get the feeling that other driver was slowing you down in the fight for P6.

For what it’s worth, I’m shortshifting on RH for 5 laps and then running RM as hard as I can for the remaining 8. I tried starting in RM with the idea that better grip would help me stay on the track in all the traffic, but finishing on RH and trying to defend was too harrowing. I decided I’d rather finish on mediums and make up some places when I put and don’t refuel. I’m still not entirely sure and will still experiment with strategy, but for whatever reason this is one of those tracks that agrees with me.

Exciting start, then had 5 laps of consistent times and gapped cars behind by 2 seconds and then on final lap, was presented with an opportunity to get a podium.

Could have easily opened up the wheel on the inside of the turn and tapped him onto grass to take the place but I'm not about that kind of racing. Still happy with P4 and clean race. He told me after he expected a nudge but I've been on the other side of it and it sucks so wouldn't do it to others!

Also had time to redesign my livery 🤣 The Farmalfa 155 🤣

Does anybody know facts about the races next week?
Not yet. Keep waiting for Nenkai to post them but he hasn't yet. Don't know why as I have no idea how he does it, so I give him the benefit of the doubt that the information isn't available yet.

@permaculture Good racing with you earlier. New school vs old school indeed. You had that C4 movin'!

He's been busy modding GTS/GT7 if you follow his Twitter. Has managed to bring the Lotus cars from the GTS Beta into the retail version, which is insanely cool.

Anyway... speaking of.

I don't think C could be any worse honestly! It's just going to be a fuel saving race with no tyre strategy... in group 4 cars on the worst layout of Catalunya. Yahoo!

Race A seems fantastic though, a tuner race on Fuji... makes me weak at the knees just thinking about it. B is pretty average. Nothing ground breaking.

8 laps on medium? Mine were dead after 6 laps. Which car do you use?

Race B and C... No thanks, another Alfa Cup and in B most boring track in the game.... Oh sorry, Special Route X is more boring... Cant wait new season of GTWS

I’m in the Porsche. I don’t know why I’m the only person who seems to be able to run 8 laps on mediums, but I’ve been noticing the disparity in my races. Maybe I’m not winning because I’m not running my tires ragged, but I was doing top five finishes on 8 laps.
