Just a **** day today at Spa. Started in pole and was fine but ended up losing control at the first high speed chicane. Was still in first and then lost control at the stupid sweeping turn which I just dont understand. Still kept going and swapped tires now in like...11th place. Ended up finally spinning out again for the third time on the last turn before the last straight. Drove terribly, bumped people, just blah. Annoyed. I still get nervous during the races and don't know how to not get nervous. Just race more?
Beer + weed = speed;)

I recently noticed that the widebody makes the Enzo better for Race A and improved into the top 10 with basically the Viper tune from Suzuka.

I would still need to luck into the weight reduction roulette part to compete for first.

Also I don't want to spoil much for the next decades challenge video, but I'm faster in the engine swapped Toyota MR2 than the Porsche Cayman, results may vary but it's worth a try, also don't bother with the Porsche Carrera GT, it has too low of top speed.

Been enjoying Spa with the RX Concept and have gotten my time down to a 2:16.8 and have been flummoxed by trying a few other cars there. I cannot, for the life of me, navigate the 911/R8/Ford GT through the chicane without spinning out. Is this an issue for all rear engine cars? I have tried over and over again and end up spinning out or just doing it so slowly I'll end up losing anyway if I try. They also spin out at the hairpin. I've seen someone with the GT on the leaderboards though. Is there a trick I'm missing?
The secret is to keep the throttle open a bit. They turn around off throttle.

My final night at Spa was an interesting one. Firstly, quite easily managed to get my qualy time down to a 14.7 which is really hustling, I am TRYING to record it but FOR THE UTTER LIFE OF ME I cannot figure out how to make the clips longer than 30 seconds on the PS5. It's a very good lap for a mortal and would make good viewing for those looking for that extra second.

Anyways, two races last night with a user called Apollocass who I see pop up every so often in my races over the past 3 years, we are usually tight on pace. I am a touch faster but also prone to more mistakes. 1st race was good, I held a lead and took second as P1 vanished but it was tight all the way.

The second race was absolutely epic. The two of us cleared off on softs with the third place man in Ford GT a little further back and the rest of the field miles behind. 1st stint we are both on softs, I make a small error and he passes me lap 2, I return the favour lap 3, we hit the pits with me 1.5 seconds up but I notice GT man pits too, 5 seconds behind...... but was on mediums. I make a small error and by lap 7 the three of us are nose to tail though I can see the sifts are getting a bit crappy for the GT. I get a monster run out of T1 and gap them both a touch but using the D-pad I bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed time through radillion as I scrub the fronts more than the wheel users so I get a great entry and try to straighten it out a bit on exit but just, I mean by bees appendage, cop a penalty for running too far to the left. We cross the line with the three of us within 7/10ths of each other, myself third, with GT man taking the win but man was I peeved at myself.

How do you watch QT laps ? I thought all you could do was load their ghost.
They're in the Showcase, under "My Items". Yes, it's stupid you can't view the replay from the Q screen. And in case you don't know, you can view a global leaderboard leader's replay from the "Qualifying Time Ranking" screen accessed from the event's main screen, NOT the leaderboard in the QT screen, if that makes sense. And only if it has a Movie item.

If that doesn't make sense, let me know, and I'll post pictures.

There is an option to save your fasted quali lap, maybe when it’s showing the replay? I can’t remember because my quali laps aren’t worth saving . . . ever.

Speaking of which, I ran at least 100 laps yesterday and still can’t get better than 16.4 on Spa no matter what I try. I need to pick up at least a second to be competitive, but I just can’t find it. Even my optimal time only shows 16.1, so maybe I’ve just reached my limits at this track? Any suggestions would be great because I’m pretty sure one more last place finish will bump me back down to B. And I’ll most likely finish last because I keep starting at P14 which is the absolute worst starting spot as I only get control of the car midway through the first part of the chicane and never know quite what the car will be doing. I get passed by the last place cars every single time because the car is so upset in the transition. One last little “**** you!” From PD I his week.

If you save your fastest time, you can replay it from the Showcase, and you can record it while you replay it. If you can't record more than 30 seconds, perhaps your disk is full?
No the default setting is 30 seconds and I am absolutely BAFFLED where the options are to increase it. I remember the same BS with the PS4, drove me mad trying to find it.

EDIT: just googled it, it's under the most ridiculous sub menu that sounds like it has absolutely nothing to do with recording length. I'll go record the lap now.

FOR THE UTTER LIFE OF ME I cannot figure out how to make the clips longer than 30 seconds on the PS5.
Two ways.

Firstly, just let it play out, then single-press the Create button and save the last whatever time is appropriate (options are 15/30s, 1/3/5/15/30m, and "full video" which is an hour).

You can also adjust the double-tap in Settings. Go to Settings -> Captures and Broadcasts -> Captures -> Shortcuts for Create Button. There you have "Length of Recent Gameplay Video Clip" which is how long the double-tap goes back to. It defaults to 30s but you can set it to any of the options above.

PD don't understand that putting penalties in qualifying (and Time Trial) is POINTLESS. I cut the track? Just make that lap invalid (like Turn10 does in Forza Motorsport, duh). The worst part is that not only you get a penalty, but most of the time you will be slowed down on the FOLLOWING lap. It's (partially) understandable only if you cut the last corner/sector...giving you an unfair advantage for the following lap. But if the cutting occurs before that? It's simply stupid. The only way to cancel the penalty is to restart the qualifying session and I have to do this quite often this week on Red Bull Ring.

This is simply bad game design. I can't picture PD employees trying out the penalties as I just mentioned and think "oh this is fine". No, this is evil and trolling the players.

OK here's a 14.7 lap, I am a mid tier A driver but strong at Spa. Note I use d-pad so I am bleeding about 3 tenths per lap scrubbing speed through Eau Rouge/Radillion and Blanchimont, not an excuse, just saying if you take these inputs it's a sub 14.5 on a wheel I reakon so it's a very strong lap from a non-alien.

Looking at the lap, I do give up a lot of time through Rivage, I slow down too much, realise it then hammer the throttle so lost a few tenths there too. Probably pulled up a TOUCH too long at the final chicane and miss the apex, though I do get on the power very early so not sure if I dropped time there.

Two other notes,i am very week through the left hander after Rivage compared to my peers, I felt i nailed it quite well this lap but in races even when i feel I get it right, my peers gain a tenth or two. Lastly, I know I keep saying it, but my run through 15 and 16 is perfect, there's so much time there, I get on the throttle mid apex at 15 and by the time i get to the chicane i am nudging 270 despite scrubbing speed at blanchimont.

Apologies for the crappy video, you will need to skip forward 2 minutes, no IDEA why the PS5 included all the lead up garbage BEFORE I double hit the record button :confused::confused: like why confuse the simple?????

I also recorded in both chase cam and hood cam as I know some folks can't stand one or the other.

Are you watching the top leaderboards lap replays?
My routine for setting a lap, is first make between 15/20 laps without watching others replays.

Then, I check the top times replays several times with all the info displayed to see the correct braking points, gears (when short shift or double shift) and speeds entering and exiting every corner.

Watching the replays with the previous experience of 20 laps on my own, gives me almost inmediatly the clues on the things Im doing wrong.
After this I download the ghost and start another set of at least 10/15 laps.
In general, I can improve about 1.5 or 2 secs my initial best time with this method.

I "waste" mondays doing this with practically no races until I feel I got a decent pace.

Wow, thanks for the info! I assumed they took the replay feature out for the Ranking boards. It was much easier to view in GT Sport.
It doesn't feel very user friendly in GT7 🤦‍♂️

First race in 2 weeks after working abroad. Did some practice laps in Race B and so far only managed a 0:52:9, which was good for a P10 start.

Made some mistakes in starting 2 laps (still rusty) and was down to P14 by the start of lap 3 😱

Thankfully I started to get back in the groove towards the 2nd half of the race and between some good defending, calculated overtakes and some players taking each other out, finished in P7 and happy with that 😁

Welcome back. So far I've shied away from that race because of... reasons.

Does anybody know if saturday morning is a time when there are more, let's say reasonable people in the races?

Thank you again! I don’t know what changed but I gained almost an entire second today! Thanks for your help. I think I was able to look at a couple of key trouble areas and smoothed them out.

In addition, I started P8 in the next race, so I got to start on the straightaway and not the chicane. It made a huge difference. I was a mess in the first race because I was rusty in traffic, but the second one I finished P5, only losing to A+ Racers!!!

So RBR is probs gonna be the 911 RSR as the Meta Car and the GR.4 race is going to be all GT-R all the time.
wheeeee

I'd say I'd probably play Watkins Glen regardless because I love the circuit but RH mandatory 10 laps I bet that turns into a fuel saving race more than anything and there's nothing more annoying than fuel saver races.

EDIT:
Why not go somewhere weird/interesting like Blue Moon Infield with GR.4 (except it'll be an alfa fest), or experiment with High Speed Ring (something fast, GR.2 or GR.1), Alscace can be interesting, run something there idc what.

EDIT 2: Unrestricted Tomahawk 3 Laps Special Route X. Make it happen PD you won't because you're lame and afraid of speed

IIRC you could do practice time trials on any track and set your car for BOP in GTSport. Is that possible in GT7? I looked in vehicle settings and it did not look doable. Would be nice to do this ahead of next weeks' races..

I remember the last time we had RBR Gr.3, and yep the Porsche was the winner. I also remember plenty of people choosing the NSX.

I'm still waiting for Daytona Road Course in Race B...

I'd love to race something quick around HSR. While they're at it, how about an actual oval race? They've only done 1 so far and that was at Daytona. I want one where you at least have to lift off the throttle. BMB is always fun, but Northern Isle hasn't shown up in a Daily in literally YEARS. Gr.3 at Broad Bean was also fun.

I’m thinking about using the Viper next week at Red Bull Ring. Will it be utterly terrible? If so, I’m definitely using it. I may be heading for DR A rating but I’m going there kicking and screaming!
I tried it last time we had RBR Gr.3 and it wasn't competitive.
