Ricmotech Load Cell just got delivered. Perfect time as I'll be testing it on Race B for the remainder of the weekend. If anyone wants to know if I feel any difference or any lap time difference on Dragon Trail let me know!

Don't forget to move the brake spring to the accelerator.

I thought the concensus was to move the brake spring to the clutch and the clutch spring to the accelerator? At least this is what I did when I put an upgraded brake spring and tweaked the rubber in my G29.

I cannot understand how is possible to have drivers with such a low rating (ex: Onabee) being able to set such a time.
Are we speaking of Race B? If I recall properly I have a 1:34.2 as a low C. If I can make it in the 31 no way I am C anymore.
Am I missing something?
There's plenty of players that race almost exclusively in time trials, qualifyings and private lobbies. None of those gives rating.

Alright early quick returns. USPS dropped off around 12 PM and I installed it shortly after with varying degrees of success. Maybe eat lunch before install. I did the recommended swap of Brake Spring to Clutch and Clutch Spring to Accelerator and Accelerator Spring to Landfill. And.....

I'm not certain what sorcery this is but holy crap! It's wildly different and the overall setup is now a much harder beating on my legs and calves than the previous one. I would struggle to get into the 32s at the first section of DT having done so only a handful of times in the Mustang and no other car. I did already multiple times with the AMG and the Mustang. I'm not sure what this does or how it does it but everything feels more....linear? Consistent? Like the car is now doing what I want it to do in my head. It cannot be understated that swapping the spring in the accelerator makes sectors like the final sweeping turn at DT a breeze and MUCH easier to control the car vs the standard G29 accelerator spring. If people can't swing for the load cell itself then at the minimum swap this spring out with another. I've probably gained a few tenths just on that one section alone and it's letting me have way more speed at the beginning of my runs. All in all the confidence level is just way higher with this and I'm glad I did it. It's a little steep and people told me to just get a real set of pedals but unfortunately those pedals have to attached to something and that something costs a whole hell of a lot more than 150 bucks.

I found swapping the springs made a huge difference. Accelerator is much more controllable.

How much travel do you get with the new brake? I looked at the TrueBrake (from the UK which was about $90 shipped) but read that it only had about 3mm of travel. I wasn't sure about that. Curious as to if you tried different brake mods before this one?

Currently I'm using https://amzn.to/3jQFwN2 as my spring mod and then I took the stock rubber, trimmed about 2-3mm off it and also I cut a wedge piece off that was about 5mm long that gave a more progressive press feel. Probably not great compared to a load-cell but 100% better than stock. Now the question is, was the Ricmotech worth the $150 because, boy is that a lot of money...

About 3/4" of travel. Just finished up a session and the trail braking through the first round about is vastly different. I am more consistently faster (putting in consistent 1:32s vs the occasional 1:32). Is it worth the 150? To me it is but it's also a stopgap between where I'm at and whenever Logitech fleshes out their pro wheel.

It was nice seeing @Bullwinkle on the track. Unfortunately, I raced about as poorly as possible. I started P12 but I finished 14, which was DFL after 2 drivers DNFed. The worst part? I tried really hard to catch up to P13, but I lost ground. That's right, I couldn't even catch the next-to-last place car. Talk about demoralizing. Well... sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes he eats you.

Good info. So just a little background... you are using a G29 wheel with pedals and just ordered the Ricmotech to upgrade the brake pedal?

I am on the G29 as well, and as a whole I really like the setup. Enough so that I've not been able to convince myself to drop a grand on a a DD Pro (with the load cell). But I've always thought the brake pedal was its Achilles's heal. I've been meaning to order some better springs for it for a while, but it's good to know there's something else out there for a better upgrade.

Correct. This actually gets the setup (IMO) into a territory where I'm alright not getting the DD rigs quite yet. The DD Pro has a few issues that give me pause (mainly the road feel stuff) and the Logitech wheel seems better but there's no shifter and only one wheel. Road feel is a huge one for me so the DD Pro is a straight up no go for me at the moment.

Hmm. Good question, I think I just swapped the brake and accelerator. Is the clutch spring stiffer then the brake?

This is my thought process as well. Not 100% on the Fanatec (I think there is a bit too much sponsored marketing going on here) and when you dig deep you find issues (such as quick release slippage). The Logitech, IMO has the better wheel, but they can't deliver in the pedals, is more expensive and they have not committed to different wheels yet (you can even get the XBOX wheel to put on the PS base) or other accessories (shifter/handbrake?). Just doesn't seem mature yet; which of course it is not.

3/4" sound perfect. I might be sold. In my B races tonight, I did okay but I could tell that braking is still my weak point. Too much variability and inconsistency in the bite point makes it hard to dial in exactly how much braking I want. What rig do you use? I just use the Playseat Challenge and I'm not sure that is strong enough to withstand the 70 lbs force.

Damn $150 though... Still a lot cheaper that $1350 for the Pro wheel and pedals.

No I believe it is between the brake and accelerator. The theory here is that you want a stiff clutch and a stronger (than stock) accelerator spring but not as strong as the clutch. You want just enough resistance in the accelerator that you can feel and dial in your amount of acceleration but not have it where your leg gets tired. For the first week my leg ached after several hours of racing with the stronger spring. Now I think it is great and I would not want stronger.

I'm on a Playseat Challenge as well and it does fine. I do have anchors attaching the pedal base though.

I upgraded my playseat challenge with (lowdown shifter) braces and a pedal plate as I've moved to a fanatec DD Pro.
But when I had my G29 I upgraded the rubbers from 3Drap. And also a (mvhstudios) magnetic shifter & GT wheel. Was a good wheel set. But once I'd tried a direct drive wheel I couldn't go back

It was the best of times and the worst of times....

Did four races on Friday.

Race 1
Started P5 in a full lobby of DR B/SR S. Lost a few spots on lap 1 but climbed back up to 4th where I was for most of the race. As is apt to happen, I was passed on the last lap to finish 5th. It was a clean race and not many went off track. The standard of driving was good and competitive. It was a good race.

Race 2
Feeling good from race 2 I jump on the next one. Again a full B/S lobby, most with 911s, and an even tighter QT spread and faster too! This one would be tougher. Again starting P5. This race was incredibly close and tight. A single slip and you'd lose a ton of places. I dropped to 6th at T6 but held it there 'til lap 4 when a wobbly by P5 caused me to lose two 2 spots instantly in a bit of drama. On lap 5, I gained one of those spots and on lap 6 I gained the other to finish the race in 6th. It was probably the best race I've done to date even though a lost a spot as the race was next level (compared to some lobbies I've been in). Full race below.

Race 3
Later in the evening I jumped on to race again. I'd had a beer and I'm sure a few of my competitors had as well... Started P8 but by the time we got to the hairpin, it became a slaughter fest. I got bumped out down to P16. After that it was a mostly lonely drive to the end to finish P13. Terrible race.

Race 4
For some reason, I decided I'd not had enough punishment for the night so I did one more. Started P9 in a mostly full B/S lobby. However these S ratings were BS LOL. It started off okay, but by the quad, cars were aggressively bumping each other for spots. After the hairpin I was boxed in 3 wide being bounced from one car to the next. Through all this, somehow I managed to drop no worse than P12. On lap two, drama happens after T2 and the yellow flag comes out because P9 spun out and I was already well on my way to passing P11 mid turn as that happens. Did not see flag and if I hit the brakes I would have only slid into P11 taking us both out. I got a 3 second penalty for pass under yellow. Ugh. I made it to P10 before the penalty drops me back to P12. In the end I finish P8, ahead of where I started having gained 4 positions on the last lap! It truly was the best of times, the worst of times and again another testament to never giving up.

This gives the first lap from three views. Quite the slammer fest.

All my races are shared. Search for tags, thenormsk, gtp or gtp6.

Not even tried Race B yet been addicted to Willow in the limited time I've had to play this week. Hopefully have a crack at it today though I'm not hugely fond of the track.

Knocked up a simple GT Planet livery for the Gr 3 GT-R for anyone running that today you can add to your collection here

Why do people do this? Do they have a "hard core" account that is only for serious racing and then have a "drunk" account for casual fun times...?
I've seen that Grumpy answered already, and for me it's almost the same. When a daily race combo smells like carnage ahead, I prefer to try it on my second account first.

So when you complimented me on being fast, I automatically get a case of "imposter syndrome". So that's why I laughed at your comment.
I get it every time when I'm in one of the top positions on the grid when the race starts. I'm like "Whoa, I don't belong here, I'm really not that fast, I just put more time and effort into qualifying."

Some time ago the races usually confirmed that, but it gets better...😆

No bugs? The Pro thread made it seem they were a bit buggy. I looked but the pedals are out of stock currently.
It hasn't been buggy for me, playing GT7. I haven't looked at that thread in a while, but the last time I did, I thought the issues were for games other than GT7.
However these S ratings were BS LOL.
I know, right? I purposely tried to lower my SR, and it didn't budge.

It's funny - sometimes I'm cocky and like "I'm so much better than these guys - I'm going to own them" and sometimes I'm like "Holy cow, those other drivers are so much better than me." Well, that's the G-rated version of what I sometimes think. It's possible that what I really think involves a few more swear words.

That was a weird race, and I didn’t fare much better. I was looking forward to a few laps with you (hopefully behind me!) but then I was having a hard time with the people in front of me driving erratically. I was forced to do some weird maneuvers to avoid them. Thanks for not hitting me in the hairpin, by the way! That section leading into the hairpin sees a lot of carnage and I’m not sure why people keep losing it there, but I thought for sure I was going to become your hood ornament! Anyway, the next time I looked you were gone.

I only did a few Races B yesterday and decided that it’s a boring slog. There aren’t many overtake opportunities and most people don’t amounts to not screwing up and hoping that the people in front of me do screw up. I haven’t done Race C yet, but it’ll be about the same only for more laps.

Maybe I’m getting bored of the game? Probably, actually. The dailies are not very imaginative, and looking at next week I feel like I’m still emotionally recovering from the last time we did those same races. I’m going to focus on the Manufacturers Cup today, although I hate (and I mean HATE!) Fuji, which only makes me want to race even less this weekend.

Basically, looking back at it, February has been complete change in my routine. I’m no longer racing every day for the first time since the game came out. This isn’t a good sign for what’s to come . . .

Not necessarily, I would say.

I've had the same experience some time ago. I don't know if "oversaturation" is the right english term for it, but I hope you get my point. Since then I've, partly intentionally, partly just by how it went, changed my focus a bit. I've become more selective with the races I take part in. I still do all the qualifyings, and some quite intensely, to improve and compare where I'm at, somehow as a friendly and stress-free competition in itself. But I no longer have "fear of missing out", which had caused me to try and compete in every different weekly race. Instead I choose daily races very consciously now. Last week it was race C exclusively, and I had a blast. This week it's race A, and I might give C a try on sunday. Some days I might only fiddle around with liveries and making nice fotos for a change, some days I focus on the daily time trial and nothing else. And then, when I actually jump into a daily race, I feel excited about it and motivated again. I still play the game almost every day and am usually looking forward to it.

It shows how subjective the game and racing in general can be. I've not raced much over the last couple of weeks but have made sure I had at least one Big Willow run each night this week and have been banging out the races today, could go around that track for hours without getting bored but some people won't even touch it when it's in the daillies!

I also wouldn't get too worried about losing interest, nothing wrong with taking a break, and other than those people who have one singular passion in life most of us will dip in and out of our interests as our moods dictate. To have come all this way since launch says more than feeling a bit done with it now, Sport mode has been unimaginative for months after all.

Chuffed with this pass at Willow, always nice to get the jump, pass clean, and get a better exit out onto the straight.

It takes two as well to do this so props to the opponent for not turning in or being an a-hole here, solid clean racing, love it.

Maybe I’m getting bored of the game?
I've wondered the same, this week. But I just think that although I like this track from a driving perspective, it's been mostly boring to do the race. I think if we had RMs it might be more interesting. Add that to the fact that I can't seem to improve on my QT, which I set early in the week.
Thanks for not hitting me in the hairpin, by the way! That section leading into the hairpin sees a lot of carnage and I’m not sure why people keep losing it there, but I thought for sure I was going to become your hood ornament!
You're welcome - I tried hard! Wasn't my best race by any stretch of the imagination.

So you know how some courses are better for some drivers than others? Well i suck at Gardens Reverse. Most likely from lack of practice... but I am getting pretty darn good at Willow! Thought I would hate that course but I absolutely love it (both in my trusted Jaguar F Type and the TT)! I was upgraded to B this week after my first victory last week and now my last three races I have made podium at Willow! (All B/S lobbies)
3rd in Jaguar
2nd in TT
3rd in TT

Last night I only had time for one race. Was able to bump my QT to 1:37:2xx. Started fourth in hards and pit after first lap (like to avoid the chaos). Slowly worked my way up and by the 11th lap I was gaining about 1-2 seconds per lap on leader. Was in a solid 5th place only 18 seconds behind the leader who still needed to pit. I started getting excited on the back straight and lost focus (the glimmer of victory blinded me)... spun out on final turn and had to have the hand of God place me back on the main straight at 0mph and in 8th.

I did not fret, and went back to work. Was able to have some of my best Laps and ended finishing a decisive 3rd place only 3 seconds behind the leader!

Btw the race was great. All drivers were B/S and almost all very clean and respectful. First and second place finished 0.01 seconds of one another! Really wanted one more try last night but couldn't. Hoping to find some time this weekend and hopefully will get my first DR-B victory!

Well done!

Funny I like Gardens Reverse and I suck and hate Willow Springs. I've never done well at that track. But perhaps it is time for me to work that today. I've got nothing else to do as COVID is running through our household and I need to hang out in the basement to avoid the infected 🧟‍♀️ anyway..
