Think I’ve been on GT7 too much and I’m burnt out. Tried to drive tonight and just couldn’t pull a decent lap together and it only got worse as the evening went on.

I did find the Huracan somewhat strong at Sardegna which surprised me. That was my fastest run of the night. Might have to work that more when my brain is engaged.

Seaside and CoD with foggy head was scary! Time to switch off for the night.

People just don’t care what they do anymore. There is no penalty for poor SR rating. Every race today had SR ratings ranging from S to C.

Penalties for car contact are a joke. I have seen folk today using their cars as weapons. Even if they do get penalised, all too often the victim is so far behind they still end up behind the attacker.

DR “ladder pressure” is currently so intense that I am reluctant to race in Sport mode after Monday. In all honesty, at least half of that comes from these forums where people are constantly posting how they are doing DR/SR wise.

Today I was in a race with so vile behaviour on display that I actually quit out of it while running in the top 6!

I started GTS/GT7 a few years back. It was fun, with the odd bad race (behaviour wise). Fun has long since ceased. The experience now leaves me feeling that I have had a bad day at work.

The problem is, I find GT7 compulsive. I just love driving games. Have done since I was a kid back in the day. So every day (I’m retired) I load up GT7 and subject myself to more of what I have previously described.

So I’m left with the simple choice. Play or stop.

I just wish they would fix all the crap and let me get on with what I love doing. Driving around GT7 with other folk having fun.

Interesting. It was of course the car of choice at Le Mans recently but would be thought not to have the space it needs to hit top speed at Sardegna. Will give this a run today as well as I've hit a wall in the WRX.

Didn't we already talk about Imposter's Syndrome?
I know exactly what you are talking about, Dr. Grumpy 😆.

Well, I'd say that I'm not bad at qualifying and TT, but I just don't hop into a new car and run fast laps right from the start. It's (almost) always me doing a lot of laps, finding incremental improvements until finally everything falls in place. And I like the process and find it quite rewarding. But it's still a very wide gap in talent and performance towards the real fast guys.

The Imposter's syndrome kicks in when I jump into an actual race and find myself in a good starting position, sometimes even on pole. Then I'm nervous about the drivers behind me finding out that I'm not that quick actually. 😬

Pole can definitely play mental tricks, you're not alone! Thankfully I don't get it often but if I do recently it's just trying to tell myself it doesn't mean I have to win, and not put pressure on myself.

Remember that the other players aren't watching your race, don't care about you for the most part.

I don't think it will ever be easy though!

Same 😂

At least I've improved a bit in that regard lately. Race C with the Sileighty at Suzuka was my favourite daily race ever (so far). My Q time was good, so I did around a dozen races in total, started five or six races on pole, and none from worse than P3 on the grid. Our forum mate @djolliea witnessed me bin two of them early on, but I adapted and won some from pole later that week.

You are never too old to learn something, I think... 😆

Oh, and one part of my learning experience that has really helped me was that I don't look back anymore. I drive in hood cam, which as we all know has no rear view mirror, and so I used to tap the "look backwards" button every five seconds or so. Which of course hurt my lap times and made me nervous as hell, especially when i saw someone come closer.
I've completely abandoned that habit. I use the radar, and that's it. What I don't see can't scare me.🤣

Sometimes you just know things are gonna get frisky... Started P5 with 2nd account and noticed dude behind had a B/B rating - no idea why he was in a lobby full of A/S and B/S players.

Wife was next to me on the sofa and told her "I guarantee he's hitting me turn one" as the race was about to start. Sure enough... 🤣

He hit another guy too so only lost 1 position but lots of mayhem going on around me. Start of lap 2 half of the drivers somehow go nuts and it turns into a ramming festival, with me receiving the bonus prize of getting punted all the way down to P11 🤐

Thankfully the driver behind me was quick and clean and we managed to navigate past a few of them, racing closely for the final 2 laps and I managed to gain another position 10cm before the finish line to end the race in P6!

Hey Techno, good racing with you again 😉 that was me (JP) behind you.
Gave you a 'GG' afterwards in chat.
Good vid...and you were a great pace to follow actually, and bonus that guy gave us another position at end lol.

Not sure if you guys follow GTWS but the next exhibition series got posted and in the details they've included a new setting for "Car Settings" - which means stuff like Brake Balance can be enabled using this setting - even whilst under BoP.

They've also seemingly got a race with a custom BoP, where its specific road cars with designated unique Car Settings that are specified.

Hopefully we see this used in Daily Races going forward. It'll be very nice to have BB back, and extremely nice for some fun custom BoP road races in A.

Some of my fave players in GT are those who seemingly think only they can do dirty moves and that everyone else will play nice when they do.

This guy just tries to swipe me out of nowhere, no prior run in, for seemingly very little gain since we're in the part of the race we should both be powering down to try and catch the leaders..

But, my friend, I'm right behind you now, going into turn 1, do you think I forgot what you just did? Or perhaps I'm just a touch late.. on the brakes... and oops, oh no...

😏 but no penalty for that bump? 👀

I love when these guys get vocal in post race chat also. I usually just tell them you get what you give, or that eventually i do hit back.

To be perfectly honest, i don't like it or approve of it, but this is what needs to be done sometimes. Especially if PD can't or won't try to clean things up for us

I did a bunch of race B yesterday after work with mixed results. Lots of good racing, including two wide through half a lap or so, a few different times. Unfortunately, i was having a really sloppy night. I kept dropping a wheel into the grass or dirt at least once a race, which had the expected unfortunate results. Still, fun was had and that is what counts.

Started to see the genesis showing up, and it seems good so i may try it later. Not sure about the alfa, as i always am a bit faster in the scooby, but it does look to be good and strong here

😏 but no penalty for that bump? 👀
I knew I'd be braking enough upon contact for the game not to consider it a punt, so knew there'd be no penalty.. this gets abused all the time, sadly.

It's rare that I'll do it, especially these days, it's too difficult in race to know if a move was deliberate or part of another sequence of events etc. and I don't want to punish someone for a mistake... but that one, I knew right away he'd just went for a swipe and i felt like teaching him that hey, being dirty is actually a choice we all make at many points in a race, and everyone can choose an a-hole move whenever they want, not just him... we just usually don't.

Nicely dealt with, it baffles me why anyone would do that, and I have a special name for them :)

I agree with this. And I also think this forum has a part in it.
About 2 years ago we always had focus on clean driving and didn't really care or discuss much about DR.
Since GT7 came out the focus is on improving, qualifying and gaining DR at almost any cost.

It's a bit of a shame that we can't really seem to have both as our focus.

I don't think this forum really plays a role in it, there's a tiny % of people racing online that are using it.

If anything, I'd say the main problem is that there's no incentive to be anything but the highest DR.
GTWS is the only active 'ranking' of your performance, and that is solely dictated by your DR rating. Not only that, but there's no actual rewards for anything aside from being as high as possible. You have all these classes, leagues and ratings, but only the best A+ drivers get anything.

It sets the precedent that having the highest DR possible is the best place to be, as you get nothing for being anywhere else.

I've completely abandoned that habit. I use the radar, and that's it. What I don't see can't scare me.🤣
So you haven't run into issues with not seeing the drivers come up from behind? I'm going to try this.
I was able to secure my weekly race win(goal) tonight in B.
That's awesome! When I was a lower ranking I used to get wins all the time (no idea why), but lately, one win a week is a great goal.

I'm the same, with starting a new car. Except I give up really quickly, because I don't know what things to vary in my driving to get another car to work.

I go half-and-half on this. If I manage to open a little gap right at the start, I get cocky. Otherwise, I'm not unhappy when someone passes me, so I can chase them instead. And half the time they succumb to the pressure, just like I would. My guess is, everyone who isn't way better than the rest feels the same way.
Remember that the other players aren't watching your race, don't care about you for the most part.
Very true.
You are never too old to learn something, I think... 😆
Yeah, but remembering what you learned isn't so easy!
Unfortunately, i was having a really sloppy night. I kept dropping a wheel into the grass or dirt at least once a race, which had the expected unfortunate results. Still, fun was had and that is what counts.
That's been happening to me more than I'd like, also. And even still, I'm having fun also. That's why I like this track.

When I was watching your vid and saw what he did, I was thinking "There's no way that wasn't deliberate. Most of the time you can't be sure, but this one is clear-cut." So I don't blame you for your response.
Since GT7 came out the focus is on improving, qualifying and gaining DR at almost any cost.

It's a bit of a shame that we can't really seem to have both as our focus.
I wonder if instead of DR letters there were just points, if that would help? I mean "I've got 50,200 points, so it doesn't matter much if I lose a little", as opposed to "I can't afford to drop back to DR B".

What about the idea of giving players also a progress bar for SR, and actually communicating to the playerbase that the SR rating affects how the grids are put together, like: higher SR means cleaner lobby. That could maybe provide some real incentive and positive motivation for players to stay clean, instead of the threat of penalties (which they can't seem to figure out anyway).

Honestly there's a hundred different methods we could all come up with to improve things in probably less than an hour, it's a mystery they haven't adjusted anything for as long as they haven't.

I've always thought that giving S SR like 10x the payouts of the other SR's would solve most of the problems - more money for driving clean will make more people drive clean.

I just don't get that. Only the select few that goes to the world tour gets anything. And how many of us is that?
The rest of us gets nothing - NOTHING - from having a higher DR. I could understand if having a higher Dr gave you better races but it's my understanding it really doesn't. It gives you less accidental mistakes but more elaborate dirty.

So dropping down to B makes absolutely no difference unless that A is a bragging right.
And it isn't. Try it on your wife....

I am sometimes B, sometimes high B, sometimes low B, sometimes C.
I measure my racing in fun.
I haven't set up the kudosprime way to see my advance in DR, because it simply makes no difference. If I put my nose to the grindstone I might be able to get DR A
And so what??

Really enjoyed it mate. Was getting slowed down a lot by the ones in front and it was amazing to have you there behind, respecting the sportsmanship and making clean attempts to pass me, rather than getting rammed as most times! Usually would be racing with main account (Malta-Saab/ TechnoIsLove) - hope to race again sometime soon :)

some group of people will say something like " an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind". I would counter with "this moron is already blind it doesn't matter does it?"

Dude tried to end your day. You returned the favor, with interest. Good on you and maybe next time he won't be so eager to wreck someone just because he can.

No worries buddy you're welcome.
I was watching you ahead for a while actually, and I could tell you were good and clean, and yes, I'll only ever pass whenever the opportunity arises if safe.
Especially for other respectful drivers.

Ya, raced you as Malta-Saab too a few months back...can't remember where, Daytona possibly.....anyway, I'll be back on this aft and tonight.
See you out there.
