Corvette pretty underrated at Seaside. Got a 1:37.2 after trying it along with the Merc, Mustang and GTR. It can do the COD flat-out no lift. Made some mistakes early on so could've broken 1:36 but here's me threading the needle with pedal to the floor.

I will also throw the Beetle in the ring. I did a 1:37:054, I also guess a 1:36:XXX is possible. And it is very stable in case of the COD

Yep, the Alfa is for me. Much more enjoyable to drive and more consistent. Amazing how the WRXs were constantly crashing out in my race..
It must very much come down to driving style as I have found the opposite. Time trial I can more or less equal times in both, but find the WRX takes a lot less wrestling around to get it there. It does sure like to not bother turning sometimes though and it appears to be random.

As someone who prides themselves on consistency when racing, Seaside is a nightmare.

I even started this one on pole

Safe to say I didn't stay there.

Got wins yesterday with the Z4 and the NSX in daily C. Z4 really surprised me, but its a car you have to be patient with picking up the gas. I found carrying a lot of speed into the corners and just letting the car rotate worked best. Felt slow but managed a 136.9 in qually with it. NSX races very well, just not much overall speed in it from what I found.

So 2 weeks in a row my fastest time has come with the R8. It's great for qualifying, but haven't had much luck racing it since it kills rear tires.

This was my race B performance with the Alfa.

Steadily improving through the race once I got out of the first two lap kerfuffles. Lost a bit on the last lap when I allowed the back end to get away from me in the uphill right hander which allowed the guy behind to get past. Otherwise that would have been a 1:27.x.

The Alfa might be faster with TCS at 1; not sure yet. Most corners TCS is not a concern but there are those couple where it might be decisive if you can dump power and not lose the back.

Has anyone else noticed the lack of wall penalties at Sardegna ?
I've hit the wall in different places and no penalties .
Sardegna: No but then I don't hit the wall :D

Seaside: I found that glancing side taps don't get penalty but anything hard, with some G force behind it does.

yeah I've had some wall contact that I would have expected a penalty from that didn't give me one. I think if you're striking the wall, especially post COD, a glancing blow basically almost side on rubbing it's not a penalty.

I did a thing. I was typing a message in the Sim Racing Equipment forum to get opinions on G29 pedals with Ricmotech load-cell upgrade vs the Logitech Pro pedals (which are out of stock) when I saw that there was only one RMT-LC27-3 left in stock. So I ordered it! :D

My wife might me a little mad at me for spending even more money on this silly game... Hope it will be worth it in my lap times!

That is exactly how I feel about it.

I'd say the same here, except I've spun out a few times due to inattentiveness, so I can't throw stones. Yet.

That really is fascinating. First off, I can't come close in QT with the WRX. As to the second part, I find the Alfa takes less wrestling. I'm sure it's about driving styles.

I was just thinking this in my last race. I very definitely hit 2 walls, and no penalties. Thank goodness!

I felt that way, but I wondered if it was just me.

IT'S NOT A SILLY GAME! THIS IS... never mind. That's me having a conversation inside my head. 🙄

I'll try the beetle and the Corvette but I suspect I'll have zero confidence on exit. Not being able to use even TC1 is very limiting.
I did a bit of playing around with the Vette this morning. It handles the 2nd and 3rd sectors pretty nicely. It does like to be downshifted to rotate and then immediately back up a gear for acceleration. If you're on automatic it's going to be harder to be fast with. The Supra, while eating Fronts, can just be hammered on corner exit without spinning out. Maybe that's an option?

Pretty sure though I'm leaving Seaside with a D/D rating from B/A to start the week. I have had exactly one race that's clean since the week started. Yes that's my skill level showing up but oof this track is hard to be consistently clean at. Like other than the COD it's not really a super challenging track to set a passable time with but ugh.

My last race I started P2 with a 1:37:8xx time. Pole sitter had a 1:35:7xx two full seconds plus some faster than I've been able to go. So of course I draw along side into the first chicane, then get left in the dust lol. Then bin it through COD, come out with 4.5 seconds of penalty, then get entry wrong into COD on Lap 2 and serve a total of 6 seconds penalty.
Pit on Lap 3, immediately get another 6 seconds of penalty in COD. Quit racing :D

Today is not my day lolol

Supra is my go-to car, along with Z4 and Lancer. The Z4 feels skittish here though, doesn't ride the kerbs well so gets nervous at times.

M6 is a solid run for me. Maybe not the fastest (in my hands) but stable through the tricky bits. The Atenza is another solid car to try, potentially better than the M6.

i‘ve also added “avoidance” to my previous “firm & unyielding” tactic. Experience shows that the early “try hards” will usually throw it all away before the end of the race. You can’t win the race at L1 T1/2 but you certainly can lose it.

Just had a frustrating race C. Was P2, the British driver in P1 spun.on L1 at the top of the esses.
I kept a 3 second gap to the Spanish driver in P2 for seven laps. As I was nearing my pit time I slipped off and a Porsche that had worked it's way up the pack slipped by. The Spanish driver in the BMW now P3, me in P2.
Lap7 the Porsche and me went into pit, came out just behind him and as I leave the pit the Spanish driven BMW almost clips me, only a slight lift saved me.
I now follow him for lap.8, and in the final turn I get overlap on the inside but he turns right in on me and we clash a few times side to side, I leave him space. Coming to turn one he lifts and when I get ahead he slams me right into the sand and drives off.
I manage to recover and just stay in P3, all the way to the end.

In pre race chat I ask if he drives without radar and mirror and he says "I am sorry".

I know he isn't and if he ends up ahead of me I will show him the beach.

Video later....

I am sure the leaderboards are right and the WRX is the META at Sardegna, but I find the Alfa 155 so much better to drive at this track...
Alfa is fun to drive around this track but against the WRX in the race...that's not fair. The top speed and the torque with the 3st gear of the Subaru killing it
My absolute best with 155: 1:24.0 and WRX: 1:23.8

I felt bad that I had contact with someone, and they got knocked into the wall. So I went and looked at the replay. I looked at it first from their camera, and it looked pretty bad for me. But then I looked at it from my camera and well, let's just say that perspective is everything. 30 second video:

By the way, yes, I shouldn't have been all the way out to the right in the first place, but there was a lot of traffic, and I messed up.

I'd take either of those times in a heartbeat. I'll swap you one of them for my 1:25.188. It's a really good deal - honest! In all seriousness, this doesn't surprise me at all, looking at sheer volume of WRXs on the QT leaderboard. But that's because you know how to drive, unlike the rest of us mere mortals.

dude even in the first part of the clip the fault was always the subaru. he drifted up into you. you gave him literally all the room except where you were and he tried to take more. probably just skill issues on their part but I can't look at that and say it's your fault like ever lol

It's fine to be honest, in the merc and GT-R so far and not noticed any significant issues with it, pitting on lap 6 med-hards or lap 3 hards-med.

It's much easier to manage since the updated display.
It seems my initial fear on this was wrong from everything I've read so far. I might do some races here after all this week.

So gave the Beetle a quick run over lunch and dropped my QT to a 36.7. You do REALLY need to wring it's neck though but it is fabulously stable.

Video below for those interested. This lap I got my throttle inputs damn near perfect but I didn't quite brake long enough for the car to change down on entrance to the esses, likely cost a tenth or two. i also braked too early for the tight right hander at the end of the esses and catch the inside kerb. Decent lap though.

Unsure if that was my race. P2 was in a Merc also. I started on pole on the wrong tyres. Ended up crashing out on the esses up the hill, went wide on the kerb. Was driving too hard then the rest of the race went from worse to catastrophic 😂 oh well, live and learn

I just can't drive a Beetle without a bag over my head...which makes following my line really hard...

I think I just had my first race with Grumpy Old Man - Race B. He started 5th and I (Slowpony17) started 7th. We each lost two spots.
I am lowish B/S. I can qualify Ok but don't race very well. I won't be sad to go to C for awhile...

Race B is challenging with WRXs and the 155 having such different cornering agility and braking points, and most of the field seeming to be going with one or the other.

I’m headed for C as well (will just blame refusing to drive the metas).

Audi TT won from pole in my very low B race, Mustang ended up 3rd, so not a total AWD-fest. I set my fastest quali time now with the TT but still don’t feel comfortable racing it. More practice tomorrow.
