3 more races at Trial Mountain. I really didn't try and improve my time and just did some laps for practice.

Race 1 I start P3 and @newb1017 is in the lobby. My race starts ok, but I become collateral damage when the car I was following misjudged the entry into turn 1, hit the barrier and shot across the track directly in my path. Nothing I could do to dodge it. Oh well, it happens. I then get taken out on the final lap also going into turn 1 when a TT driver tries to stick their nose on my inside as I start my turn in. Completely stupid move for them to try that. And to add insult to injury, I get a barrier collision penalty. Yay... I finish in P13.

Race 2 has me in a lobby with @GrumpyOldMan and that was neat. I start P12 and I have my work cut out for me as this room was fast. I avoid the mess Grumpy got caught up in and I don't know how I wasn't collected in it as well. I said out loud "oh no" when that penalty popped up for you. I did give a "tip of the cap" as I drove by as you acted as a blocker for the driver I was side by side with on the backstretch. The rest of the race was really competitive and clean minus the usual tiny bumps and such. I manage to finish P7 with a clean race bonus.

Race 3 is mostly the same people and the same intense close racing. I make my way to P9 and I'm just happy to be there based on the strenght of the field. Some contact on the final corner between P7 and P8 allows me to steal a spot and come across the line in P8. I also got a clean race bonus for that one too.

Minus that first race, another successful day at Trial Mountain. I'm having fun this week so far and I like this combo a lot. I'll do a few more tomorrow and hopefully I can get similar results.

What's your preferred method for taking T1/T2 in Trial mtn. Do you brake slightly and turn in sharp or do you lift and turn in a bit early. If you don't hit T2 straight then you aren't making T3.

I tap the brakes and turn hard for qualifying but it's to dangerous for racetime. I usually lift and tuck in early to be safe. But this leaves me vulnerable to the inside on the exit.

Ultimately I just need to practice and get better but curious what others do.

I need to be able to build gaps better and that's my weakest point. I keep getting tangled with those behind me and not attacking what's in front.

I became so frustrated with a particular non-country resident earlier I had to quit and go for a run.

@D Quick I've started employing a safety-first policy of lifting fully into T1. I'm using the Mustang so I'm usually within catching distance but I'll follow them through and hope the pressure counts for something. It's all about staying close enough to make a move after the long tunnel, anyway.

I had a guilty but probably karma neutral moment in my last race tonight, 3am slot. Top 6 drivers are A+ & A. I'm chasing a podium into the last lap and there's a number of position changes ahead which puts me in prime position coming into the last sector. I've just taken 3rd and the Audi rear ends me into the left hander before the uphill taking us to the final chicane. I only just keep it on the road and squirm my way back in front of them to prevent a run, fully expecting them to go easy after compromising me. They don't, and instead take a weird line on the inside of the chicane, overshoot it and end up coming back across me for the second turn. I'm pretty confident they had already lost it before I gave them an accidental, almost unavoidable tap to the rear panel and fully let off the gas but they span into the barrier on the left.

It's a weird one but I definitely think a bit of conscientiousness to begin with would've avoided the whole thing.

This is the exact opposite of me, at least this week. And the reason, for me, is that even though I'm getting decent QTs,
I bet you spend a lot of time just running QT laps. And that it reflects in your starting position.

I'd swap with you if I could.

I don't think you would :)
I think your measurements of success is so different from mine, you measure your QT all the time in here, competing with other forum members and you even wrote scripts on measurements of your DR.
If you swapped to my method you would totally get frustrated and feel that "what's the point of racing" feel.
And that's OK. It's one of the beautiful things about this game, it can be different things to different people.

I've noticed that my last two wins are not registering in my win total on my profile
and it may be more than that. Is there anything I can do about this ?

My son gave me his PS5 with his account still on it and I set myself up an account as part of his.
He then bought a new PS5 and moved his account to that one. I then had to buy GT7 for mine
and it seemed all my info transferred over except for the free DLC cars and now with the wins
not counting.

I have done the renew License deal and nothing changed.

I am not the fastest by any means but I am usually ok with T1 ,T2, and T3 then into the tunnel...... usually. By Ok I mean keeping pace...lol

I am using the TT and I lift "briefly" where the orange/yellow padding starts on the right and I move left at the same time. I am back on the throttle well before the left curb, so it really is being off for a short amount of time.

I try to get the left tires on left curb and then move slightly to get a line with the right tires on the grass and left tires on the track at the jutout on the right. As we all know, you cut a fair amount off there with no penalty or traction problems.

From there if my line is good I can just go fully over the left curb (and cheat a bit without a penalty, but just a bit) and not have to lift. But, more than half the time I am feeling that if I don't do a safety lift at or just prior to that last curb before the tunnel then I will run wide into the grass.

Anyway, the lift I have at the start is so brief (and small too..just barely dropping off max speed) that it makes me think I should be able to run the first two curbs flat out, but when I try in QT I found that after getting the left curb I can't get back on line for the curb where the grass is without basically being out of control. It is amazing how much difference for me that very brief lift at the orange/yellow padding makes to reduce the speed and keep control.

Hmm, not such the amateur me thinks!
Well, compared to other drivers from this forum i trully am the amateur haha! It's funny though, with my current QT time sometimes i start somewhere in the midpack and a race later, with the same QT time, i'm starting at the back... So yeah, the name Amateur is often justified.

Does anyone have any tips for the left hander before the back straight that leads down to the chicane? at TM. I can't seem to nail that corner. In races this is where people either really close the gap or pull away from me. I think i've tried every line imaginable through there but my speed seems slow.

Good morning everyone! Since yesterday I'm a proud owner of a PS5 and the GT7 upgrade...🥳

...and I'm slow as **** now😬. Seems like I've got some work to do getting used to the new controller. I don't "feel it" yet. No way I'm jumping into any daily race now to embarrass myself😆.

So I've got a question to the guys who are using the DS5 controller: (How) do you use the "force feedback" on the triggers (R2/L2 buttons)? Off, weak or strong? Does it help to get used to it, or better turn it off?

I turned it off after a couple of weeks and was suddenly a few tenths faster per lap, I feel like the feedback it gives is a bit misleading when you can actually push the car harder. If I remember right the pad aliens like Calster have it off too.

You probably won't get such a big shock in races as I did when I switched to a PS5 last week - went from B/S rooms on PS4 to rooms with A, and the occasional A+, drivers! Too fast for me.

As a wheel user I didn't have the problem of adapting to different controllers though.

I think you just get used to it (I didn't race a whole lot in Sport on the PS4 so don't have the best reference). It "feels" more authentic, and to be honest if you turn if off you may as well just reassign those controls to normal buttons.

Never really cared much for the daily races until last week with the off road one. Came back this week and man I love the TM Gr.4 race.
I'm trying out all cars, just for fun. Currently my fastest lap is a 2.00.1xx

Top cars right now:
Aston Martin
Lexus
Lamborghini

Good cars, got victories in them but the lap times are a bit slower than my fastest cars:
Megane Trophy
Hyundai Genesis
Atenza
McLaren
TT, I know everyone is setting the best lap times with it but I just don't feel it yet.

Crap cars:
M4, horrible

Hoping to try out all the others tonight.
Got a couple of victories yesterday. Not making any profit though because I always need to purchase the RM tires first :D

Brake a bit hard in the tunnel and turn earlier than what you think. If you can start the turn with your car in the dirty asphalt then you can accelerate all the way through.

Another crack at Race C today to try and take advantage of my quick quali. Another pole position and another scruffy first lap... Only 2nd place had enough race pace to keep up with me but annoyingly I lost it in the technical bit (do the Hards take that long to warm up!?). He tapped me into the barrier but luckily I didn't get a penalty and kept 4th. Passed 3rd and 2nd place nicely and in the end took a comfortable 2nd again, annoyingly picking up a 0.5 penalty for cutting the first part of the chicane (wow that limit is HARSH) so no clean race but a pole position and a fastest lap looks good for the stat padding!

Back to SR S THANK GOD and some lovely clean racing in this lobby. Nice to be back in the happy part of Daily Races again. The Jag is doing me well at Grand Valley, I really like it's jack of all trades abilities despite a slightly lively rear end, the supercharged power delivery keeps me out of trouble most times and it's easy to be consistent with it. GG

FINALLY got a win in the Ferrari in C! Man this car is bad. It's slow (barely 158 on the straight at the s/f line), twitchy as can be, and the understeer is insane!

To finally get the W things had to line up before the race even started. My quali time on the 2 account is 1:47.9X done in the Audi. If I get put into a B & A lobby I am usually top five but forget it. If I can get into a full B lobby then I am usually towards the top two or on pol. If there's a Ford behind me there's no way. This happened and I was able to hold him off for a couple of laps but he wet by so fast on the front straight it wasn't even funny (Ford is like 167 in slip?). If there is a Porsche then maybe. Porsche is better through the infield (and everywhere else for that matter) but it's too hard to pass. If I can keep the delta to ~.600" going onto the front straight it won't quite have enough for a move into T1.

Thankfully, the stars aligned and I got a race last night where I started on pole with two Porsches behind. Then, of course I still need to do my part and keep the widow-maker Ferrari pointed in the right direction and put in some decently competitive laps. The guy behind was super clean and probably could've sent it more than ones going into T1 but backed off, so cheers to "Mr. Bill" for the clean race.

So now that I checked Lambo, Audi, and Ferrari (and McLaren and Ford GT but those are META) off the list, what's next? I am honestly thinking of trying the McLaren F1 as it's not horrible (drives like the Ford GT) but it's just slower.

If all you’re doing is trying different cars, you can save money and rent the cars.

I bet you spend a lot of time just running QT laps. And that it reflects in your starting position.
Yeah, you're probably right. It's not that I like QT laps, it's just that I want to get more consistent before I race. I guess I'm just perpetuating the problem this way, though.
I don't think you would :)

I hear what you're saying, and you might be right. But on the subject of qualifying times, since I've added a bunch of people to my friends list, I'm so far down the list it almost doesn't matter anymore! This week (and last week, honestly) have been different than most weeks, where all I wanted to do was race.
I am using the TT and I lift "briefly" where the orange/yellow padding starts on the right and I move left at the same time. I am back on the throttle well before the left curb, so it really is being off for a short amount of time.

That was a fantastic explanation, and I really needed it. Thanks!
The replay angles here are beautiful, PD have smashed it.
Absolutely true - thanks for the video! I just wish PD would have more cloudless days. Imagine those replay angles with blue skies and no haze, deep blue ocean, etc. Would be awesome.

Here's a video I made that will hopefully help (I'm not the driver, by the way). And I just realized this probably isn't the section you were talking about, but since I've already made the video, here it is anyway. D'OH!

Yep I got my corners mixed up. I meant the left hander before the short run down to the chicane. Its at the bottom of a small hill. Probably explains why I can't get it right if I don't even know how to describe where it is!!

Turn (unlucky) 13, right?

Good morning everyone! Since yesterday I'm a proud owner of a PS5 and the GT7 upgrade...🥳

...and I'm slow as **** now😬. Seems like I've got some work to do getting used to the new controller. I don't "feel it" yet. No way I'm jumping into any daily race now to embarrass myself😆.

So I've got a question to the guys who are using the DS5 controller: (How) do you use the "force feedback" on the triggers (R2/L2 buttons)? Off, weak or strong? Does it help to get used to it, or better turn it off?
I found Weak FFB on the haptic triggers worked best for me as compared to the PS4 triggers. Strong was far too strong for me. I had the same problem you did and it took messing around with the controller feedback configurations for a few minutes in basically any regular race to really figure out what was comfortable and fast.
I too was slower immediately after the upgrade to the PS5 and it really did come down to controller settings. You'll get there!

Right now when i switch it to "weak", then L2 (brake) gives more force / resistance than R2 (throttle). That feels weird. Don't know if that's a bug or a feature...😆

I run it on Strong when I use a controller. There's a lot of opinions on it, but it's ultimately just preference. It wont make you faster or slower either way.

For me, I find the extra stiffness makes it easier to modulate throttle/brake pressure.
