Glad to see i'm not the only one. It just looks beautiful, with the sunset and all. But racing on it? Mehh...I have zero interest in race C though. I just don't like the track. There, I said it.

Possibly you were off-track at points other than when you got the penalty - that would still count as a non-clean sector and so take away the CRB, even if the game didn't judge you'd gained an advantage. That makes it even more baffling as to why I'm SR A after two almost completely clean Race C's just in second place, I might haave got a track limits penalty once but apart from that it was all clean lapping in the 1:49s!
It's TT, Mustang or maaaaaaybe GT86. One hand tied behind your back otherwise. The stang feels awesome to me, good power, safe back end, good turn in, really solid feeling car. I very nearly bought one IRL, went 997 instead but was a close call.Had a short window to go on last night so just spent 10 or so laps setting a QT at race B in the Cayman. All but 3 were either a penalty lap or affected by a previous penalty lap (Almost every one was cutting across turn 2 by the wrong side of an inch. Tires on the curbing in the replay.). Only managed a 2:00.2 in it. I'll try a different car later this week. Or try using a ghost, even my own would help I'm sure. In the game or on real tracks, I just don't get along well with (or enjoy) FWD cars so we'll see how things go.
Oh I'm sure the FR layout will be what feels the most familiar to me, but it's a mus🤢, must🤢, mustang🤮. Lol. My current "street"/track car is a 72 Vette, 500hp (before the N2O), 5 spd, 2850lbs.It's TT, Mustang or maaaaaaybe GT86. One hand tied behind your back otherwise. You are my soulmate! LOL. I hate TM this week. As everyone here improves whenever I try to QT my times just get worse. It is like, start of the week, I set my best time and then as I try to beat it I just ingrain some bad habit that I can't break and just get angry at myself that my laps are 2-3 seconds slower than everyone else. Ironically, racing B on Monday what actually good for my DR with some good point gains. But that was Monday. Everyone has improved significantly since then.I still haven't run any race B.
I went into QT last.night and that made.me remember that I absolutely hate the track.
There's not a single good section in it for me.
Chances are I just need to get gud but when ever lap feels like flagellation I just can't do it.

For the most part I've been using the rental car options as I try out different cars so that should not be an issue and I've been sticking for the most part with the Ferrari 458 which I don't have as a Gr.4 car in my collection yet. But it is a good reminder for the cars I do own. Usually I am quite consistent with checking the Gr.3 cars I'm using for C but B I have not been so on top of.This is a long shot, but check your oil status. Mine keeps going to "bad" way quicker than I think it should.
I felt a wisp of air against my neck with this one - had to make an evasive manoeuvre.@TechnoIsLove

Suddenly I've found out how to drive the Audi. Must have been my new paintjob, right?

It made a difference like day and night (wink wink).

it does have the absolute worst (most stringent) off track penalties in the entire game which makes for pretty bad racingGlad to see i'm not the only one. It just looks beautiful, with the sunset and all. But racing on it? Mehh...
Agree. There desperately needs to be contact penalties, it's the lesser of two evils. I know one gets blamed by the system incorrectly at times but with such a lenient system it's total bedlam.
I think I already sent you a request. Thanks for the new friends I got yesterday. It is nice to see some familiar names/handles from this thread on my leaderboard, even if you are all faster....lol
Heads up I am going to send a request to GrumpyOldMan, CmdrParabolus, and Bullwinkle and TheNormsk. I am PSN SubArcticK racing as Slowpony17.

Might be my best non-A (or Silvia) performance yet.

Wow, I could have written this post nearly word-for-word, it is exactly how I approach racing. In the great 'pace vs consistency' debate, I fall squarely on the consistency side.My QT are the same as yours, slower than others as the week progresses.
I am the eternal B driver. But I like it here.
I am not very good at qualifying, that slow deliberate search for hundreds or tenths.
I am usually doing maybe 5 or 6 laps if I like the track, then I go racing.
And I lack in QT but I have a lot of experience on running in the pack, to know what gaps to stay out of and to apply pressure.
I usually finish higher than I started. I don't often win, but I have fun.
I don't worry about my DR at all, have no idea how much of the bar is full or empty because I never look at it.
And a great fight for 10th is better to me than a lights to flag win.
Ok, that's a fair assessment for that situation. I just wanted another opinion on what I could have done better.60/40 his fault. He runs very deep then cuts back across the apex when he should have stayed wide. In saying that, you fell for the "oh there's a gap" when in reality, it was likely to close. But TBH I felt like you had to go SOMEWHERE and he shouldn't have cut back so tight.
I think I was in some lobbies with you yesterday around 6:30pm EST. That name looks familiar and I did have a giggle when I saw it.I am PSN SubArcticK racing as Slowpony17.
I went through DR E and D fighting through to the front as I didn't place any priority on QT, then gave it a go and might as well have skipped through DR C as all but one was a flag to flag win. Agreed, they were boring races. But the added benefit was that the SR boost to S was a HUGE improvement in the quality of races after that.I am usually doing maybe 5 or 6 laps if I like the track, then I go racing.

I've been SR S since sometimes February 2018. It happens from time to time that I fell out of it, but every time I do what it takes to get back there.I went through DR E and D fighting through to the front as I didn't place any priority on QT, then gave it a go and might as well have skipped through DR C as all but one was a flag to flag win. I'm with you 100% on this - at 68 years of age, I'm just in this for some fun, don't want to be world champion! (Don't have the ability to do so anyway....).My QT are the same as yours, slower than others as the week progresses.

Come on! You're not giving up, are you? 🤣🍻Wow! Massive achievement, congrats! 🎉
Managed to squeeze out a 1:58:5 after 10 more laps today, but I'm not interested in improving further 🤣 Will focus on more races as of tomorrow.
This totally reflects my experience too, I managed to get into the 58s by abstaining from brake usage into the first four corners. Saved me a whole second. I think that sector might actually be my favourite set of corners in the whole game. In both directions. So satisfying when you hit them just right.FINALLY have gotten into the 1:59s at Trial Mountain. Used the Mustang to get there. I figured out what was causing my "squirrely" issues into the first set of corners. Do NOT shift up into 6th gear at the end of the straight. Send the rev bar into the stratosphere in 5th gear and then instead of downshifting and getting unsettled just lift a touch into T1. Lifting there allows the front end to come down a touch creating more of a contact patch for turning which is desperately needed because of the off camber elevation changing corners.
Hmm, not such the amateur me thinks!Right.. I’m starting to have some fun on GV. Somehow I’m able to dodge the clowns and the carnage during the race today and i am finishing on the podium twice on a row whilst starting somewhere around P7/8’ish.
Have you tried swapping the clutch spring with the accelerator? A stiffer pedal helps me modulate the throttle.👏👏👏👏
You win the internet today for the best description of driving the Ford.
Side note I'm driving these cars with TCS1 being fastest for me. With TCS0 I might potentially be quicker but I am more likely to be too cautious on the throttle and be slower or I over boost the accelerator and spin into a rock. Part of that may be a function on the G29 accelerator pedal. Perhaps TCS0 is more controllable with better pedals but that is what I have for now..
Obviously this is where I need to focus. My QT is decent enough at 1:58.915, but if I don't survive the first set of turns, there's no point. The good news is that I apparently have a decent amount of time to gain there, so if I succeed, it should help my QT. Time will tell (yes, I like that joke.)This totally reflects my experience too, I managed to get into the 58s by abstaining from brake usage into the first four corners. Saved me a whole second. This is the exact opposite of me, at least this week. And the reason, for me, is that even though I'm getting decent QTs, they're interspersed between multiple resets when I screw up. I just can't get consistent, other than consistently bad. I'd swap with you if I could.I am not very good at qualifying, that slow deliberate search for hundreds or tenths.

I'm 66, but what is this "fun" you talk about?I'm with you 100% on this - at 68 years of age, I'm just in this for some fun,
Mine was doing the same. Once I turned the lights on it was fine. You can't play VR in the dark.Alright after experimenting with racing in VR it seems I have to shelve it for the time being because it cannot stop giving me the Can't Read Room error which loves to pop up during GV corner section. It pauses my game for a split second and then figures itself out only to ruin my lap. I haven't jumped into any Daily Races for fear it's going to do this in my race and have decided to just give up entirely until I'm 100% ensured it won't do it. I do prefer racing in it and believe I'm a little faster in it but it's too inconsistent. At least mine is or in the room I'm playing in.
Went back to pancake and managed a rather stress-free 3rd in the 911 fighting with a Ford GT to just obliterates the 911 in the straights. Not confident enough in that car to try it but might tomorrow. My first podium in a LONG time (DT Reverse) so was happy about that.
