Noticed that one had to complete 50 races in Sport Mode for one of GT7's trophies, so I jumped into this week's daily race B, in order to achieve that. It's just the right length in addition to some of my favourite cars to drive with.

Picked up a few wins in lower-rated lobbies and lots of Top 5 finishes, but certainly not going back anytime soon once this week is over.

By the way, general question: Do wins count as Top 5s for the statistic shown at the top of the Sport Mode menu too or are they counted separately?

As far as I'm aware, win tally and top 5 count are different, so taking P1 doesn't add to top 5 count.

Anybody start a race and suddenly realize during the countdown that you are drowsy and a nap is better use of your time?! To make it even better, I clip D. Quick in the twisty bits of race C (Sorry again!) 13 1/2 laps to go and I refuse to DNF. I get it together but lap times are way down. What a slog.
Honestly it was my fault. I got a little squirrely braking in the tunnel and was taking that turn way off pace. I went from p11 to p3 in lap one. I was just starting to congratulate myself for being the best driver ever until someone shoved it right up my tailpipe in the last corner. Then I went from p3 to last.

I asked the guy if he had anger issues after the race.

Despite all of that I've really been enjoying race C. If the first hairpin wasn't so finicky I think this track would be in my top 5. Once you find the rhythm you really feel immersed.

At La Source I got a penalty for hitting another car. Curiously I was in front of the other car and they hit me in the side.
Not to pile on, and you know I love you ;p but I have to agree with the others - it was a divebomb. If you hadn't made contact with the other car, you would have shot off the track. At least, that's the way it looks to me. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. It wouldn't be the first time - or the 100th time for that matter. And I get it about the racing line closing off - I've done the very same thing a few times myself.

Again, I'm not really criticising you - stuff happens, and you weren't being malicious. And I think everyone else can see that too, so don't worry we'll think you're a dirty driver. :)

As for the penalty, I'm surprised the game gave you one, but I think it was right to do it, even if the other guy turned into you. Which makes me wonder why they can't get other penalties correct.

Did a few races this week at Spa. Love that track so much, I couldn't resist. It was fun overall with some good races, a few odd ones and a couple of just plain terrible ones. I'm sure that's the case for everyone. Managed to finish on the podium (P3) twice after starting P8 and P9 mostly courtesy of guys taken themselves out but still had to work to hold them back to keep the position. Most of the other races I started from P10-11 or 12 (really terrible spots to be when the lights to go out 😒) and only moved up a couple of places. I may try to do a couple more today time permitting.

I finally got around to giving race C a go tonight and I'm having the same issues. I've tried a few different cars but nothing feels great.

I never look at my speedometer but on this turn I make sure that I start taking it 40mph or below. The exit is still tricky but I at least have confidence I'm not going to spin at that speed.
I've tried out and in, in and out, gentle through the middle but the last bump always gets me.

I think under friends there is a tab of all the recent players you have played with.

This doesn't help though if you don't know the PSN ID. I misinterpreted your friends quandry.
Not a popular opinion, but run with ASM. I have ran 12 Race C this week, 0 spins.

You can tell the leaders from the sheep... 😂

But it’s that hairpin which absolutely ruins the track for me! Such a deal breaker. Even Super GT was trashing it in his latest video, and he’s good at it! That turn is the single reason I quit doing that race this week. I want to love that track so much because I love the flow of the rest of it, but it’s like getting a lovely massage followed by a punch in the gut every single lap!

This is one of those funny statements:
A) don’t worry we’ll think you’re a dirty driver (no problem because we won’t)
B) don’t worry, we’ll think you’re a dirty driver (no doubt at all that we will)

Not a criticism, it just tickled my weird not-so-funny bone.

The black sheep as it turns out.

On my last race last night I finally hit it consistently every lap. The trick for me is to go slow.... Slow.. Slower. Once I got slowed down enough I could take it on the inside to cover off any dive bombers and get a nice run off the exit.

It's still a rhythm killer. It would be amazing if PD opened that corner up just a tad and made it a steeply banked corner like zandvoort. Or even more suicidally the nurburgring carousel. That would invite some different lines

really hope that something rwd is worth running next week at brands
Since the BoP change, I've done pretty well against the Audi TTs in my Mustang. There's another guy who I've seen winning the Watkins Glen A races in the NSX.
Based on your blistering TT time at Laguna Seca in the Mustang GT, I think you could get good results with the Gr.4 Mustang. It has far less understeer than the street version. 👍

FYI, I just posted this thread in case it helps anyone:

Hmmmm, I wonder why you have trouble going slow, "D Quick"?

yeah, they could do something like this:
Maybe make that last corner there something steeply banked and sweeping letting you carry far more speed through the corner than otherwise would be able to which would make the kink leading to the start/finish straight mean something especially for low downforce cars. I dunno just a thought. Would have been cool to see that instead of what they built.

Yes B and C have been great this week and have managed to get some binging in even if the evening runs during the week were particularly violent, the weekend has been fun.

As an aside, running the mustang at Deep Forest this weekend instead of the Jag I was using before has been a revelation. The thing is so damn fast and as long as you open up the steering to stop it from trying to fishtail round the tight turns it's not tricky to drive at all.

I should usually like the combo for Race A but I'm way off the pace at the short track, I wonder if I usually do well in the second half then and claw back lost time there as I'm doing what I would normally do and finding myself at the bottom of the order.

With the other two races so appealing I've just left it though, I'll figure it out some other time.

Racing Daily A at the moment. Great little track with some good racing. Shame it wasn't for DR Hello to the driver with the GT Planet logo on the back of their RCZ!
That was me!

Ran with the RCZ all week, and learned that TT drivers don't like me overtaking them! They either get all flummoxed and drop further back as they start overdriving to catch up again, or else they just ram me clean off the track....

I think the SLS is another possible contender

Managed to recover this to second but ah, to be out in front for the first time this week I was dreaming of the (imaginary) headlines and was fuming in race.

You brake toooooo early and he saw the opportunity, you closed the door.
But to be fair, i guess you didnt count with him.

fell asleep at the wheel other week and ended up going off piste

I just finally tried race C on my GB account. Thank you for the recommendations for the Jaguar. Finally found a car I could drive on this track. QT was a 1:28 something but I had no idea how that would stack up in a mid DR C lobby. Turns out it was good enough for Q13 (I think). I selected to start on hards with the strategy of 8 hard/7 medium.

Somehow by end of first lap I had avoided the chaos up front and I was up to 5th. I truly have no idea how that happened. Over the next 7 laps there was quite a bit of trading places and I was down to 8th by my pit but I'd noticed those in front who pitted the prior lap had been on mediums, so I figured I'd have later stage advantage. After pits I was in 5th but slipped back again to 6th. Last lap exiting the tunnel I tried to switcharoo with 5th (as I was all over him at that point) but I get it wrong and hit the barrier in a spot where you have to reverse out. Argh. I drop to 9th but I end up finishing in 6th.

Turns out three cars ahead of me had either not pitted or pitted wrong and gained 1 minute penalties. Wild.

I think I would have been crucified in a DR B lobby but in DR C it was a fun race. Wish I'd figured this out earlier in the week...

Daily C this week is great fun, if you don’t get punted on the hairpin in lap 1. Starting on the hards and switching to the mediums is the strategy to go if you don’t start somewhere up front. The advice I can give to you is that the mediums can hold up longer than the 7 laps you did. When I start on the hard tire I like to switch to the mediums after lap 5. The mediums can go that long. If in doubt, switch one lap later to the mediums.

This being first race I had no idea how tires would play out as, quite honestly, I’d not been paying attention up to this point.

I noticed that the mediums were holding up and I like the strategy of changing at lap 5 now.

Weird thing in this weeks's C race is the clean race bonus. I've had multiple races where I haven't touched anyone, never went off track, no penalties and no crashes, but still no clean race bonus.
But then there was a race where I lost the end, crashed into the barrier twice as a result, facing whole grid backwards, causing a mayhem, but still got a clean race bonus at the end.

To be fair to them they made the apex and gave you room around the outside. But the speed they came in there meant you had no chance of seeing them and took your normal line. I was surprised you went into the barrier but it can happen. Hard to give it more than a racing incident.

That is way too far back for a dive, you can't just force yourself to a position from half a straight back, he had no right to that line.
