Have PD made any announcement re: the lag? I mean it's one thing to have a specific region being impacted but global any with no update causing it? Smells suspiciously like a DDOS to me... Unless they forgot to pay their monthly internet bill

These issues have been going on since the last update.

I tried a few Daytona Q laps this morning. I was trying to be careful at the bus stop, to not cross any of the lines.

On one lap, I screwed up and went right over the first white line. I was surprised to not get a penalty. On the next lap, I tested it further. I crossed two of the lines. Still no penalty. Then I watched a top 10 replay, and he crossed all of the lines.

Has it always been like this, and I just never noticed? :crazy:

No they fixed it last time, and now it's apparently broken again.

I wondered why I didn't get a penalty completely cutting the left hand entry - by mistake (I hadn't practiced and not been there in a while)

Yep same thing here for me in B. Annoying as I have picked up the pace here quite quickly so was hoping to make some hay into my DR early in the week before folk get up to speed.

I went absolutely all in at Suzuka last week. Initally hadn’t planned to race this much but the opportunity to beat some previous personal best records opened up and I thought hell, why not? I enjoyed the combo and had the time. Also tested all 48 cars, won with 44, did a tier list. Lamborghini Huracán turned out to be my favourite here. 150 races, 128 wins, 135 CRB.

Also took the opportunity to record some more credit reward statistics as I like to do that. Since there were quite a few races I’ve put them in detail inside the spoiler below.

So DR|SR question: If the lobby disconnects do you lose any DR and/or SR? If you quit out of a race you lose DR to everyone who was left in the race (and you lose some SR too but that's a little less straight forward), but if you get disconnected presumably everyone gets dropped at the same time... so are you losing any DR to anyone at that point?

If you quit out of a race you lose DR to everyone who was left in the race (and you lose some SR too but that's a little less straight forward), but if you get disconnected presumably everyone gets dropped at the same time... so are you losing any DR to anyone at that point?

I just got kicked out and i don't see any change to my DR.

I can't confidently say because I am too lazy to actually count pixels, but I was disconnected from a nations race this weekend. It happened after I finished the race but was in the countdown, waiting for others to finish so I never got to the post-race lobby. Visual look at my DR looked like it took a fairly big hit. SR was still S but I likely have that padded well.

Maybe others can say definitively.

Edit. Actually thinking about it, I wasn't 'disconnected' but the game crashed (ps5). Reboot required. I have to think the server issues and crash were related but I have no evidence for that.

I also finished P10 but in a balanced lobby, that shouldn't lose you too many points. Maybe my game crashed but others finished?

A mid race disconnect counts as quitting and impacts DR/SR in the exact same way. Putting you last in the race, unless someone else left or disconnected prior.

As far as a complete lobby disconnect goes, I don’t know. Can you with certainty say everyone disconnected? I can’t recall ever seeing that.

Well that was an interesting few races earlier. Decided to stick with race C as I like daytona. Did seven races with mixed results. 1st race, won by 16s, 2nd race 3rd, 3rd race won by 6s. And then it got really interesting. 4th race I ended up racing by myself after everyone else got disconnected 🤣🤣 Easy win and the result stood. 5th Attempt and I was 2nd before it again crashed. 6th race was basically like pinball with the lag and I ended up 2nd but getting annoyed with the server. Tried 1 more but we got 2 laps in and again it crashed. I was properly p*shed off at this point so walked away. It is actually a joke at this stage. No more for me until PD fix whatever is broken

So definitely the UK servers are screwed at the moment. They can't hold an 8 min race together.

Sony and PD need to sort their infrastructure out.

EU lobbies that are EMEA and South Africa are just a silly idea. Same with the US lobbies being all of South America and visiting Europeans. Ridiculous or just cheap skate

Honestly, South Africa isn't that bad. The data-distance is only just above the Great Circle distance, with a bunch of nice fat submarine pipes including the recently opened Google Equiano line and two or three cables called WACS.

Vladivostok is the real bugger. Similar distance but somewhat chaotic path over land and round the houses (and China). You'd get a better experience from San Francisco.

I knew you had written an excellent article on the lobby connections I just couldn't find it to reference.

I've had 3 lobbies crash by lap 2 not just lag but cars parked up and everything.

I get the pipes are big but Middle East and even Israel are a bit of a stretch to a guy playing in a room in Cambridge. When we talk about the quality of the backbone...

Tried race C. Unexpected error code before the countdown timer had finished kicked us all out. Games gone. Shame, got a week off work so was gonna niavely attempt Manufacturers.

Edit - tried again, didnt even get to the countdown the 2nd time.

3rd attempt I get kicked out on lap 6, when
I was in the EXTREMELY rare position of P.1

Now that connection issues have plagued servers outside USA, here's a reminder how to accurately measure your DR rating:

I have had a disconnect only just before start of a race so unfortunately I don't have an answer whether it affects DR and SR. I have seen folks saying that it hit their DR but unless they provided evidence with kudosprime, I wouldn't be so sure.

It shouldn't affect DR or SR but if it does they will be reset like they have done before basically erasing the races.

The issue seems to be localised to the Uk or at least Western Europe but it's frustrating as hell.

@Famine I'd really like to re read that infrastructure article if you could give me some search pointers or a link.

I’ve been kicked out of 3 races in a row, no DR rating drop and I’m at the bottom of A so if I left 3 races in a row I deffo would’ve been demoted by now. Seems like if you get an error pop up there’s no effect.

Managed 2 full races, and 2 cracking races they were too 👌👌 I finished 2nd in both but it was very clean hard racing with the French guy, really enjoyed it. How close 🙈🙈 1 more go before bed calls

I'm happy to report that the Mustang looks to be a great choice for Race B once again. There's 1 in the Top 10 overall and I'm 55th overall at the time of typing this.
