Had a quick race at Daytona this evening in the 650S… was on pole position with a 1:55.5 which was a bit ominous… got swallowed up by a couple of 458s in the slipstream on lap one, but thereafter had a nice run in third trading places with them until lap 4 or 5 when I got glitch-bombed (it was the server glitching or I got dive bombed by 3 cars, so we’ll call it glitch-bombed) into the hairpin at the start of the lap… by the time I got going again everyone was past me. Spent the rest of the race catching up to the pack and passing a few stragglers to finish 9th. Would have been a great race I think, but the server issues just aren’t sustainable, as many have already said.
 
Saw a streamer at Grand Valley (Moskafy on You Tube) using a manual shifter on his rig last week. But I thought that was disabled in Sport Mode (or so I was told back in GTS days)?

So I tried my logitech shifter in Race A today and sure enough it is disabled.

I’m confused!
 
I only got in one C race tonight after trying different cars and once again settling on the Altenza as best for consistency. I had tested cars yesterday so I had a clue what was fitting for me.

I qualified with a 1:55.245 (just .005 slower than a certain friend who has been beating me lately:-) and got p7 for the start.

Great hard racing throughout with no punting and lots of side by side action.
Lost a couple of places t1 on about lap 6 and was never able to get them back.

Was all 458’s in front of me and I was the only Altenza in the race finished p9 with CRB. Enjoyed having a clean race 😁

Was really concerned that the lag would come but I didn’t experience any lag at all during the 10 laps 🙏

Shifter still Works in lobbies, single player and if remember correctly also on TT’s.
No dailies etc.

Shame there wasn't much actual race though. Just dropped me straight back to race select, no error message or anything.

Managed to complete the next attempt. Got sideswiped by someone trying to survive a tankslapper on lap 1 and ended up in a nice battle with someone for the rest of the race despite a few lag issues. He bumped me into a spin through the bus stop and backed off to let me catch up and continue the fight. Several people got dropped through the race so ended up a lot higher than I should have!
 
a quick question, a little off topic.. but after you un-tick the box to stop receiving emails for this thread, how long before the emails stop coming..?
ive un-ticked all the email notification boxes yet ones for this thread keep coming through.. 🤷🏼‍♂️
 
Didn't do any races yesterday but ran some quali laps just to see what's what. The car groups really need swapped for Race B & C, IMO.

A 44.3 in the Viper on B and a 53.8 around Daytona in the Veyron. I might do some Race Bs (assuming the servers are working okay) as I just really like Dayton RC and at least the Veyron (with some Ferraris sprinkled in) is more exciting than the GTR that used to be OP.

I'm still happy racing at the mid-rear and taking in the beauty of the immersion

Your profile is still set to "Follow content on interaction" and "Follow content on creation". Turn these off and Unfollow this thread.

I play almost exclusively in VR now. Only grind or do some initial qualifying laps in flat mode. I did qualifying laps for Race C in flat and 1 race in VR yesterday. The rest of the week I’ll do pre-race qualifying in VR prior to the race.

I jumped in a race a couple weeks ago and didn’t have time to setup VR before the race started. It seemed so much less engaging. I’m just so used to VR now.

Race C is okay this week. I’ve only done one race so far. I can see myself getting bored with it after a handful of races. Started out okay with a P2 to kick off the week.

These server 'glitches' have been a sister over the last two days - cars disappearing all over the place, into walls, off on the grass etc, etc and miraculously re-appearing right in front of me. Think I'll stay away for a couple of days so PD can sort their **** out.

The other thing that they need to attend to is the penalty system. Race B today, I get nudged from behind, bump the Lambo in front who then gets smacked into the wall at the hairpin and I get a 5sec penalty. Seriously PD????

“Sequential” mode will work for any car in sport mode, wether it has a sequential box like the Tom’s Supra, an H-pattern like the Alfa 155, or any paddle shifter car.

I really do wish they’d let us use our H-patterns in sport mode though

Agree, I really hate driving cars w/have h-pattern manuals irl and having to use paddles.

Where is sequential mode? I can only see manual and auto in settings.

Double agree. I always used my clutch and H pattern on cars that actually have them IRL, in the game... in 1P anyway. Was kinda bummed to discover you can't in Sport. Cars like the Gr3 Ford GT LM II, all the GrC cars, the McLaren MP4... all stick shifts.

If your shifter supports it, it'll likely be a physical switch on the shifter itself to change it. That's how it is on my Fanatec clubsport shifter.

Nothing in settings, just leave it on manual in game. That setting is purely "automatic or not" regardless of the shifter you use.

I had an absolute blast at the Nations Fuji Gr.2 round, heel-toeing an 08’ NSX GT500 for 45 minutes straight!

I have Logitech’s shifter. Pretty sure there’s no sequential mode unfortunately.

That’s the spirit! Love driving the Alfa GTA or the Escort 1600 in Asseto Corsa w/manual shifter and heel and toe. Especially at 60s Monza and Silverstone.
 
I don't know if Polyphony has noticed that the servers are down, the daily online races cannot be played. We users pay to play online but it's a shame that since Monday it's not possible to do so. We are in 2023 but there are still problems for online gaming. Very sad.

It's genuinely scary when you're thinking a car in front has gone wide then bam it's right in front of you a second later. Jittery as hell and just not fun.

It's a shame as the 458 is a dream of a drive round there.

No other company would just let this level of instability pass with no word for a day, let alone a week like the US has had it already.

the lack of transparency, the amount of head in the sand is really just showing how disrespectful they are to their fan base.

But what was really really odd is lobbies aren't experiencing this issue at least none of the ones I joined last night were :thinking
 
I've just attempted a Race B and it had the current issues but also something new.

By lap 2 some cars were randomly lagging and appearing as we know, randomly crashing etc only to reappear in front/in you (so to speak)

But this one crashed on lap 5/8 as I crossed the finish line I got the end of race music/jingle a fade to black and dumped on the race selection screen. Previously I got a GT error code in the pop up and the OK button....
 
EMEA, Race C. “Unexpected error” crash from race.
PD are a shambles. They must be the laughing stock of the esports community.
It’s time the community voted with its feet and boycott this rubbish until they fix ALL the issues with Sport mode.

I think I know or at least something massively odd is going on.

After my last B that managed to finish I did the next one and it crashed....

BUT it was a full night race at the daily B maggorie illuminated corner markers, full pitch black. It crashed with the error this time rather than the fade to black race end music...

In all of GT7s time I haven't seen a full night race and my god it was weird!

So my theory is everything is so broken we are getting random stuff....or more likely they are introducing some different race setup mechanics and out there conspiracy they are using some ML to derive combos and basically running some A/B or MVT tests.

Really really random.
