I forgot the major downside of setting up another account. Worse than the boring early menu books. It’s that damned sportsmanship video you have to watch ignore at least one time all the way through.

Anyway, account #3 set up, just for daily races here and maybe other racing games. GTP-Fezzik, feel free to add me (probably only worth it for B-and-below PS5 Euros, will never be in a race with anyone else). Let’s see how long it takes to get this one up to DR B.

I sent a request but accidentally from my US account. I will send another later from my GB account. That is currently 1/3 DR C so you'll be in good company! That account I'm usually playing if I'm getting into 1am my time as then I get the 7/8am crowd in Europe. I really need to learn the flags as I think I am getting a lot of Eastern Europe types at that early in the morning as they are more hours ahead..

Race C is fun that is for sure. The Gr3 BoP is quite decent. However I do have one issue.

Daily C at the Glen
TT at the Glen
Manu race this week at the Glen.

Is Lego Maggie getting a challenge for over used races?
I think it's because of the 6 Hours at The Glen that was raced this Sunday.

For those of you, and I include myself in this category, who are getting reamed at Laguna Seca, here's what I noticed on my first race there this week, as well as what I remember from last time:

I (we) need to learn the proper braking points and corner entries. If we do something unexpected, or we're just annoying because we're taking the entrances too slow, people are gonna push their way past us, no question about it. So we (I) need to focus on that, to the exclusion of getting great QTs, so we stop being targets.

I'll be studying the leaders' videos, as well as my own replays (of other people's driving) to try and figure it out. I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.

Really liking race C. Managed to get a top 1k quali time and the GTR is stable in the race.

Still trying to figure out the chicane though. Not sure how to get it right.

Accepted. I switched to the Silvia and put in a few more laps at lunch. Took my time down to 1:28.4. Left plenty of time on the table. I have a habit of whenever my lap time is significantly up (like -0.5 seconds faster) I tend to push the corners that bit tighter to try to eek out faster times and then the sausages happened. :banghead:

I really must stop doing that! I figure I can get low 1:28s. After that, not sure if I will get into the 1:27s.

I'll agree that Laguna Seca can be rough. I tend to do well there on the Time Trail Challenges (I've got gold on the two I've done so far) but online racing is hit or miss. If you can get in clear air it's okay. In the pack and chaos usually ensues. I'll give it ago tonight to see how it fairs early in the week.

Don't be silly! I brewed my tea outside of the car. This car is Italian! It has a built in expresso machine. That's why it's extra caffeinated to drive! :D
Was in the 458 today at Laguna. Could’ve used some espresso!

Surprised people are having trouble with dirty drivers at Laguna this week, I've done a few races (love the track) and it's been really clean.
I think the slightly longer race means people aren't as desperate to launch their cars into other drivers, and the high risk of dumb moves means people are more cautious as if they cause an incident and end up in the sandpit, they're done for.

On another note, the V8 Vantage and Alfa 155 have been really good for me in that race. I've been trying to stay away from the meta cars and have pulled off a 26.3 in the Alfa and a 26.5 in the Vantage. The Vantage feels nicer in the race than the Alfa though, the Alfa has a lot of understeer.

Did some races at Laguna today. So much carnage! Went from 7th to 2nd after all the dive bombers were done at Andretti on lap one!

Also took revenge against a dirty driver (never wise) and then hit someone by mistake. Result - dropped from SR S to B in one race (might’ve been two). Then had to be a good boy and got back to A. Also dropped to DR C (was just hanging onto B …).

Man those C/B lobbies are something else.

I’m finding it more amusing, as I work my way up the rankings from the pits of despair (DR E), to bait them into a divebomb. They line it up, you move to the outside at the last moment and they go flying off into the gravel without you as a brake.

Did a couple race Cs to help prepare for Manu. A couple things really stuck out - how much the fuel load must effect tire wear.

First race I started towards the back so I started on RH tires. After five laps I pit and put on the RS tires. As I crossed the finish line there was a lot of usable RS tire left. I could've probably done two more laps, and I was doing some fighting while on them as well. Next race, started P5 so after debating a while I put on the RS tires. They didn't even make it six laps before the LF tire was full red. After five laps the LF had a sliver of white left and I decided to stay out anyway as this was practice; it went full red in the right after the bus stop. There wasn't even any fighting, I started P5 but due to some chaos I was P1 by the end of S2.

Despite staying out on the ailing LF tire, I still managed to gain ~.40" on the BMW that was behind me and pitted on lap five for RH tires. I was ~1.50" up as he went into the pits and by the time I did, then hit the bus stop (the delta coming out of the pits is a bit deceiving because you lose a bunch of time on that long bit before the bus stop), I was ~1.90".

Lastly, how good looking this car is. The looks have really grown on me in the past couple weeks.

Agree, that quicker is better/cleaner, but was hit several times today at Laguna and none of the incidents were due to my sloth! It was the usual dive bombing/barging down the inside where the dirty driver only makes the corner b/c your car is the brake!

I improved my QT for race B down to a 1:28.19 with the Silvia. I feel a 1:27.something is in the cards now. I did try the 155 but couldn't find the same pace. Still need to try the F-type and what else?

I've also turned my QT attempts into a fun outing of how far can I drive on two wheels. After all the car is 2WD. Does it mean this?

However, it turns out not that far, before you do a complete flip!

Tough introduction for me at Laguna, started the day as a C class user and after two races I was back in D...ok, I'm a rookie but the first couple of races with the 458 were absolutely horrible this morning.
Then this night I took a look at more expert users replay, switched to Silvia, worked the track better, and things started to turn for the better...I like the longer race, but there are a couple of spot where dirty drivers just go mad, and it's a pity cause it's such a fun track

@TheNormsk and I were in a Daily Race B together, and I doubt either of us were happy with being placed near the end of the pack. I was P14, and I think he was P10. Whatever the case, neither of us had a particularly fun race. He finished last (sorry, man) and although I finished better at P12, it was a miserable experience.

I'm rethinking whether I want to spend the week in this kind of hell or not. Leaning towards "not".

Yes. I did not see you in the race until after the end because you qualified behind me and I was in 10th to start. But through my calamities, you must’ve passed me and I only saw you in the results. This evening‘s been brutal I’m going to do a separate post and some videos on this. One race was the roughest I have ever seen. You won’t believe it until you see the video. It’s insane.

Now I’ve got a good qualifying time of a 1:27.8 now but I’m not sure I can do anymore these races. That’s a shame as otherwise I like Laguna Seca but this nights crap fest was OTT.

The last race was clean and I came in third. But I’ve been in top three several times only to be hit out. Very frustrating.

Had a couple of tries at the Glen last night.

First go was in the Porsche, starting 10th on RH. Had a great race with lots of nice battles including this that made me feel like I know what I'm doing for once! 😁

Came into the pits on lap 5 I think and made it up to 7th by the end. Had a great time.

So I thought I'd give it another go, but in the Ferrari, as practice for the manfacturer's. Only had a couple of laps to set my QT in this car, so I was surprised to find myself in 9th. Got started on the hards again and was making up time on the other runners around me, so I thought I'd go 1 lap earlier for the softs as I had a bit left last time.

I was having a great time watching the position counter go down as people pitted. It went all the way to 3rd and I could see the cars ahead, and then I just lost it in the bus stop on lap 7. Full sideways in the middle, no idea what I did different! Pulled off an incredibly lucky save and that's when I noticed how red the rears where. Probably better try and save them a bit then.

It did not work. After a couple more half spins, halfway through lap 9 the rears had gone completely and I just couldn't keep up any sort of pace. Off the track, in the barriers, trying to keep out of the way of everyone else, just a complete mess to cross the line in 14th 😆

So lesson learned: In the Ferrari, do soft first! 😊

I created a new UK account for this weeks racing. 2 fold reasons. One so I could still race in my neck of the woods and 2 so I'd have an alt account.

Not going to lie, I'd forgotten just how awful the menu book grind is. Hiding even lobbies behind an hour of game play along with sport.

To be expected the default E/B rating you start with is also a little grindy and seal clubbing. No offence to anyone but there is a difference at those levels with someone who has a top 1200 QT I lapped a Veyron in the swift TWICE...at Laguna

The stats look mega though 4 races 3 1st and 1 2nd....

But besides all that, it got me thinking they have Sophy, why not give you a test race against the medium Sophy and then allocate you levels rather than just default everyone to the same level when abilities and race craft vary quite wildly?
Well the grind is not the most terrible, just started myself yesterday an American account. Maybe good that the newbies get to do some driving before going to sport mode. Imo I'd put them still to do national A licence and to complete 2-3 more menu books. Don't want drivers too chaotic to come ruin others races in sport mode.

Good thing in GT7 are the circuit exps, most should be able to bronze them, that is decent cash, and if you are a decent driver, you should gold them. And if you do a second account now, the Olympic event for 2 mil is still available. Available after collector level 6, you do like 5 menu books or so + maybe buying a few cheap cars.

Well well. If this is a sign for the manu I'm looking forward to it!

Sweating right through here :odd:

What's the tyre wear like for the Sup?

I had a couple of good runs with the M6 for race C. Admittedly it was down in DR D so the driving standards were appaling. I didn't join in time to do a quali lap but it didn't matter - I went from 14th to 4th on the first lap. Car feels a bit lighter on tyres than some of the others I've tried - the Ford GT LM absolutely shredded them.

7 races into the new account and I'm almost back up to DR C. My SR S survived some Laguna carnage as well. May have to concentrate on WG for the rest of the week - the rammers were out in force for race B.

.

I got 5 laps on the Supra and I was rolling on reds the last one of those. I got 6 out of the Porsche running on reds and 6 out of the RCZ though it could have gone another, it's not the fastest on the straights though.

I'm getting 5 to 6 laps from most cars as well. Could probably get more from the BRZ but I'm too scared to use it. Will get swamped off the start.

I just finished 12th in that B race. The fastest lap was a 1:43:xx. That was 4 seconds quicker than mine. I have no desire nor aspiration to race any higher than my current level.

Experience has taught me to respect my own limitations, of which there are several. :)
Have you escaped the group of death and destruction with the low SR drivers yet?

I didn't manage to stay in B, so dropped to C and got the same sort of messy lobby full dirty drivers. Thankfully Watkins Glen doesn't seem bring out the worse in them and I've scraped back into B after four races like that this morning.

I’m getting 7 in the Porsche if I run hards first, but the left front and rear are full red by the last sector.

I‘ll be finding out later today. I’m still testing tbh as it seems your race pace on hards is the key to a decent race. I have been toying running the Audi but my last test car yesterday was the Peugeot VGT (the “flat” car). It’s not too shabby! More testing on the way.

Hope my lobby is better later on.

** I can guarantee I pick the wrong car….always seems to happen.

Looks like I've already got a pretty sweet time for Race A - within the top 400! It certainly helped to have TCS on 2. Now I'll have to actually try racing. That false start check sounds especially interesting.
