What a wasted oportunity from PD to make a day to night transition in daily C.
A 12 lap race was perfect to simulate a 24hr race at le Mans giving us a much better experiencie...

I love longer races, thanks PD for that.
I just hope that next time we can see this feature with another group/track with several strategies at hand (2 o 3 pit stops) and with much closer racing.

Done 3 races B....3 crashes, and the second time I raged-quitted after the second crash in the same spot before the chicane of death.
Yesterday night I wrote that my wish for this week would have been to retain my ranking...it's gonna be hard :P
What car are you using guys? I'm at 1:41:7xx QT with the 911 RSR, it handles well but lacks something

ps. crashes caused by other users, always from behind, last time another italian that 2minutes before in the lobby tagged my username saying "watch out"....later he sent me to the moon. This kind of users need some kind of heavier penalty instead of a 4sec...

I quite like the 911 here. I'm not in fast enough lobbies that I need to use the Supra, and I prefer a mid engine layout.

I've tested the 911RSR, R.S.01 and the Supra plus some others. Supra is most likely to kill you with oversteer so I'm avoiding that. The R.S.01 is my preferred car and can be quick (one of the top 10 in the world is an R.S.01 in a field of Supras) but it suffers in races because it quickness is in its handling but not necessarily straight-line speed. That said it is a very confidence inspiring car to drive and in lower lobbies it is very competitive. However my quickest time, which is almost a 1:40 dead, is currently in the 911RSR. I'm using it with TCS2 and no other aids. While TCS1 may be quicker still I find that I often oversteer in the left handers at the bottom and top of the hill on the back side of the course. TCS2 tames that and does not slow you down elsewhere.

I have not tried C yet but I've been reading that a lot of people seemingly quit the race and so ends up finishing with a field on 6-10 cars. Personally that sound like an DR gain opportunity for those with perseverance to see it through to the end; easy points pick up if much of the field is DNF. How have you been finding it?

I think I'm going to love this weeks Race C, learnt my lessons from first time out. Aimed for consistency, so leaving a bit more of a margin for error than usual, this time I bought it home in 3rd, with no offs & just one 0.5s penalty all race. Looked after the rears being a bit more gentle on the throttle and a 5S/7M strategy worked out fine.

So I logged into B account as wanted to see how the actual Dragon Trail racing is this week.

I first noticed that a certain Mr @Nebuc72 already took a massive 💩 on my parade by setting a 1:38:6 vs my 1:38:7 qualy lap time 🤣 So I was a bit sad heading into the race and started P11 as only did 5 laps and set a 1:39:4 before it started.

However...... PODIUM !!! 🤣😎🎉🥳 And once again no idea why clean bonus taken away... But still, 8 places gained during the race Woop Woop 🙂

You mean 1:38.xx not 1:28 right?

After some unsuccessful testing with the Porsche, I broke the 1:39.9xx barrier with the AMG '20. I haven't done any races yet because I'm about to lose my A DR (thanks to Sunday night's B DR crashers at Sardegna, putting me in last place two races in a row).

Anyway the Supra loses traction too much for me to be fast in it. Next I'll try the Beetle, Genesis, Huracan, RCZ. I miss the GTS days when the Gr.3 Viper used to leave everybody in the dust.

P.S. As Tidgney pointed out, we can change brake bias this week. I'm curious to see how it can help improve lap times.

@GrumpyOldMan have you gotten your A yet? The 911 feels really good on Race B. Picked up a win in my second go at it, qualifier is down to 1:39.4 at the moment.
No, and I probably won't in the near future if my first race B this week is any indication. Lots of carnage, including me hitting a wall twice - once so bad I had to backup before I could continue. It was all due to my lack of skill in avoiding people who crashed in front of me. Hell, I probably caused at least as many problems for people behind me.

Started P7, finished P12, only lost less than 1 percentage point. It definitely is a Mondy out there.

A couple of questions:
  1. If you're going to race your B account this week, what is it? I'd like to add you as a friend if that's OK with you.
  2. For some reason, even though you show up in my Friends list, I never see your time. I'm going to delete you as a friend and re-add you, so I'd appreciate it if you accepted my request.

The GT-R '18 is a monster round Seaside.

Glides through the CoD as well,

Race A is similar to last week - get away at the front and you can often easily win whilst everyone else bashes into each other. Or Get caught in the traffic and get punted from pillar to post.

Some fast drivers seem massively aggressive over trying to get that 7th place, instead of being patient, driving smoothly and clean and the pair of you both catching the stupid panel bashing drivers up ahead.

Win or bust.

I've been one step forward, one step back all afternoon. I'll get it yet!

Edit: Just got back to A after mucking around in B for a good amount of time. I'm sure I'll B back in no time.

There were a couple of weeks at the beginning of the year where I was an A, but that's been it:

Ya 100%, tried the Supra cause I've seen tons of them in the upper echelon of the QT rankings but...it's not an easy car for me, not impossible, but driving with TCS 0 or sometimes at 1...it's a car that you have to handle properly, I'm not expert enough with the wheel to spend too much time with it, but it has what it needs to be really fast.
I tried the 650S but...the 911 seems superior to me in this track.
I'm at a 1:41 low, tried some different ways to handle the fast couple of turns at the start, taking them in 5th gear needs precision, trying a 4th/5th sequence doesn't make the time worse...also for the part going down from the hill, there's the couple of large turns that we can handle in 4th 5th it depends on the driving style...I need to get a focus on that, maybe watching some more replays.

Wow, 1:39 it's fast, I'm at a 1:41 low trying to find a way to gain some time around.
I'm gonna try the Mercedes in 10minutes , I'm not used to it but I'm curious.

The GT-R '18 is a monster round Seaside.

Another one to try, gonna get a few laps in it!

I did a bunch of races tonight, highs and lows, for the first time I've been dumped in A - SR because the driver in front of me just braked with all the force he had got in himself...but way way before the chicane.
I crashed him, I'm honest with you, but I didn't want to, I was just following....and so, 4sec penalty and A - SR.
After 3 clean races in a row yesterday...mh.

Ok, it's time for the goodnight session, need to stay clear of crashes and test a few different cars

EDIT: Last race for the night started 6 finished 6...and back in S-SR with a clean race.
Tried the Mercedes...it's fast and quite easy!
:P

Race C, wow, nice! My bike ride got rained out today so I jumped in at an unusual time for me, didn't really recognize anyone. And oh my..... The driving was atrocious! I was punted every which way for two laps until things settled down. Maybe it's just monday and I will try again tonight and hope for the usual gang of idiots (except those here of course!) I never take for granted the comfort of knowing the driver on your six is going to behave rationally.

I also wonder if race C would have been better to give us group 3 or 2, a more stable and predictable car. The group 1 is every man for themselves and too bad if your car brakes different from mine. Again, maybe its monday and maybe I just got a bad lobby but I'll try a few more of these and hope PD gives us more.

Race B is also good, had some decent results in mixed lobbies this morning.

Today's Daily Race Bs were quite the experience. Here's what I've come away with:
  1. I can't use the 911 during the actual race. It's much too squirrely (for me), and doesn't hold up well to paint scraping.
  2. The Supra holds up like a charm when the fur starts flying. It's like a tank - several 911's bounced off me (their fault not mine, although I did plenty of my own bad things).
  3. Trying to go 2-wide through the CoD may not mean instant death, but one or both of us are going to come away with pieces of walls imbedded in our cars.
  4. Please, please, PLEASE don't brake too early on T1. I'll run into you and get a 5 second penalty, because YOU WERE THE IDIOT. Believe it or not, I survived the 5 second penalty to finish in an OK position.
Over today's 4 races, I lost 8% in DR, 6.5 of it in one race. All things considered, it could have been a lot worse. Dropped to SR A, but I expect that to come back up. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

This is probably the best lap I'll get for Race A.

While the video was processing I did a last to first challenge on my alternate account and something happened that will bring back a series that I haven't done in over 6 years. This week will be interesting to say the least.

I saw - congrats on the class podium (assuming the penalty for the #71 stuck; there was lots going on).
We did! Thankyou, quite a tough race still recovering from under 4 hours sleep haha!
Hey man just wanted you to know that your videos are the ones I always watch. For a while now I’ve been thinking that what would really help me learn is seeing you diagnose “average” laps.

What I mean is, I would love to see you watch someone else’s lap that they send you (a beginner or just average driver) and just have you point out a few of the things they did “wrong” and explain how to fix it. As a newer driver, sometimes I learn WHAT to do from your videos but not HOW to do it. Thanks again for making the videos.
I read this yesterday and I have been thinking about it ever since (Yes a bit weird I know). I may look into this but via the time trial instead but will have to see. I haven't done this in the past as most of the time the issue is actually the time I have then which lap do I pick etc. But I have some ideas so lets see :).

Added you. 2nd is BruceIlGustuz 🙂

Be nice if they would put the Race A car up for sale in the used lot while it's required. I know you can rent it but would be nice to buy it and deck it out in flourescent pink for the event.

I have no intention of owning every random version of a Lancer on the off chance it may be needed in a Daily.

PD KILLED A GREAT RACE....
I loved the 12 lap race C, did ok, only had time for two races, it was a great 42 minutes and happy to have a long race. I get home late (work nites) and get ready to go for some long runs at LeMans and shocked to see PD killed a unicorn of a race, a wonderful lovely long race, and they KILLED it.
They have done dumb things and not fixed things and I kept my thoughts to myself but they went to far this time.
I'm almost at the point of quitting and go back to playing GTA III...

Why would they? Did a change to the Daily Races mid-week ever occur? 12 laps at Le Mans fits the narrative of an endurance race, unfortunately without meaningful fuel consumption.
Want to double check that, mate? I had a feeling...

Just noticed this while waiting for it to start, how irritating :ouch:

If they had changed it straight away when it was noticed I would accept it more, but after leaving it for that long and presumably seeing the positive feedback... you leave it alone, you don't change it back anyway.

It was fun while it lasted.

What B'stards! Glad I got one last full length race in this morning, have any other settings changed, or have they just halved the length?

Wow I can't believe it. I think I was in the last 12 lap race at 8am UTC. What a joy and now they killed it for no reason.
The reason is pretty obvious - it was a mistake from the beginning, as shown by the estimated time being 25 mins.

Okay yes there was a mistake, but who's to say they maybe want to try a longer daily race and just forgot to adapt the estimated time? However it just doesn't feel right and PD could just embrace its mistake and make the best out of it, maybe even some A|B testing by adding a Daily Race D with 6 laps.

I don't think this showed anything necessarily. They never change the estimated time even when they do stuff like 4 minute long Race A. I just saw that as "we forgot to change the thing we never change"

Not quite what you're after, but the Mazda 787B is available in the Legend Cars section now. Which is a good car for this weeks Le Mans Race C.
